They probably didn't have to. Gentle Giant has detailed 3D files of most of the original Kenner run, which they use to make their jumbo figures. So I wouldn't be surprised if they used those.

Because - even if what you said is true - if the line is successful they will probably want to continue with it. That will mean the next run of figures will have the Death Squad Commander. Either way, they can use the same mold for both, which they can't do for Tarkin. Also, if they have access to the original figures, they can make perfect molds from those - no tooling necessary.

Doppleganger and Scorpion look good, I wish they’d make them in 3.75” scale.

God fuck Hasbro for killing the 4" line. I would have loved a 4"Overwatch line so bad, and it makes way more sense given the GiJoe-ness of the OW characters and ease of depicting larger characters like Rein DVa and Orisa. But above all not a single thing for Marvel 1/18th collectors. Nothing.

I really wish all the worst on Dwight.

Well 4'' is simply a weird format nowadays where tons of lines are in the 6'' range. Also it's better for joints and paint application.. even though the Tracer is really an extremely bad example for it. Boy that character is the poster child for the brand, what were they thinking?

I guess it also had to with Good Smile Company license of Figma Overwatch which are around the same scale. Also, 3.75"-4" fits lines that have vehicles and playsets which as far as I know doesn't fit/ necessary to Overwatch.

And she can't even do her classic running pose!

Not just that, but the price of 4 inch figures is astronomical these days and hardly worth the price when for $6 more you can get a 6 inch figure.

6” makes more sense for the audience they’re going for in this case, since they’re ideally gonna have it alongside the similarly scaled Marvel Legends, Black Series and Dragon Stars figures at GameStop.

I know people rag on Dwight, but the reality unfortunately is that the 6”, 7” and 8” scales all seem more popular for collector focused figures. I’m not sure what happened that led to the lessening popularity of 4” scales, but it’s observable even in import figures.

6” really is the worst of all worlds: too big for vehicles/playsets, too small for natural-looking soft goods. I guess it’s an okay scale for baby’s first action figure, when little hands are too clumsy and weak to handle anything bigger or easily manipulate anything smaller.

That's hilarious. To me, GM was a foil and nuisance and a reminder of a narcissistic co-worker from years gone by. It's interesting and kind of cool how perceptions differ.

I am a collector and I won't touch anything but 4", unless it is a character that is supposed to be big. Rag on him? He is the rag.

You clearly don't know about Super 7, Hiya/Mezco, Boss Fight, Zombie Labs, Dime Store Legends, and that other company that starts with an M. I would include Zica but they seem to be firing blanks at the moment. It is a battle royale for control of the 4" market and Dwight has left Hasbro unarmed.

CCC.

Btw, I want a 1/18 Tracer for Ready Player 1.

And that’s fine. But obviously just because you don’t touch other scales doesn’t mean plenty of others don’t either.

Such an amazing Toy Fair. There are some things missing of course (no JL Storm or Firestar, hoping we see both of them in five months) and I'm really hoping Emma gets an alternate Selene head, but the only out and out disappointment is legless Cannonball. Or make that a half disappointment, the top half of him looks great and so does the blast, but he needs legs.

Yeah, Hasbro killed it at Toy Fair while Mattel is on cruise control with their car curving towards a cliff and they're too busy jacking off to notice.

Not looking forward to the movie at all but I dig Far From Home's stealth suit. Gives off some major Spider-Man Noir vibes.

Wonder what the chances are of the PS4 game patching it in?

Hasbro really came through with the Legends reveals this year. I actually feel pretty content with what they've shown (though I wouldn't say no to knowing the whole Vintage X-Men line-up.) and there weren't really any major disappointments.

However, I would like someone to straight-up walk up to the Hasbro folks and just aks what's going on with Dani Moonstar & Super Skrull. I know they were never formally announced, but I'm tired of ignoring the mutant valkyrie/shape-shifting elephants in the room.

Damn, the Hasbro Overwatch Reinhardt fig is gonna be 50 bucks at Gamestop... at least the rest of the singles are in the 20 bucks range.

As someone who grew with GI Joes I can't force myself to start collecting 6 inch line even though I have to admit that the line is currently in perfect shape. I just do not feel it. And I do not think I am alone. It is a shame to totally kill the line. Ten new figures a year would keep many collectors going. But changing even those movie related limited-PoA lines from 3.75 inches to something like 5 inches line? That was unnecessary and frankly it feels like middle finger to us.

Interestingly that seems to make him the only one Gamestop isn't overcharging for. On their site the singles are $23 and the two packs are $50 instead of Hasbro's prices of $20 and $40 provided with the official images, this practice matches with how Gamestop overprices Legends. Reinhardt is listed as $50 by Hasbro too though, however this makes some sense as he is a massive character so the toy should reflect that (if there are any images showing the figure's exact size I have yet to see them).
