Hi

Just introducing my self. I am actually a toy industry veteran (mostly games and girls toys) but if anyone has any questions about the behind the scenes of the industry let me know. I have worked on some Marvel stuff (licensed stuff nothing too sexy though)

you actually worked with toy industy companies? like hasbro and mattell? how hard is it to get a toy idea made?

I actually worked at MGA, we made the Bratz dolls. The only (semi) major boys toyline we had was Alien Racers.

An original toy idea is tough because of the amount of risk involved. Toy Buyers generally are only going to buy and support what they can sell, which is typically what they sold last year just with a different color. Most toy companies have ton's of "good" ideas that you never see because it is a failure adverse industry so generally that why there are so many line extensions and sequels, etc. If you had a new idea it would be branded under a line that was a hit or with license (star wars, marvel, etc.)

Mainly I live in LA, but commute to China quite a bit.

Off the top of my head...
Spiderman 3 Pinball

Marvel Heroes Poker set that didn't come out

random marvel card games not sure if any made it to shelves

We did try to make a game that was like an electronic heroclix but it was too expensive. It was pretty cool, but price became an issue.
