Yeah, that's why I see everyone as just some guy. LOL. It really doesn't matter to me their gender or orientation... as long as they don't like anime. Just kidding on the last part. LOL.

My gf loves anime. I have been trying for years to convert her to comics, no such luck.

It can change peoples re-actions to the person. Asking if they are male or female, not really rude, I can see your point, but asking what their sexuality is.

LOL, I'm very careful when I address things to people that I don't know and this clearly translates into my posts online. I consider dude to be a generic term. I even refer to female friends and girlfriends as dudes. It's been used so loosely in the media, I've come to use it as a generic placeholder for anybody's name. So quite often, I would refer to people as dude online, especially when their gender is unknown. Or I word the sentence in such a way that it could refer to either. LOL. No harm, no foul. Or FOWL in the case of the Penguin. Whee whee whee...

Hey guys, I think we accidentally hijacked this poor newb's thread. LOL.

I get you on the sexuality part. But to be fair. I don't think anyone out right asked him/her what sexuality was.

I think it was only brought up to get an Idea on the Sex (m/f) not to bring up specifically any ones sexuality.

I dont think it's necessarily rude. We all assume everyone here is male but when there is a picture of a guy with his shirt off, I think im not the only one wondering if this person with this screen name is a male or female.
Posting here might answer all these questions:

It doesnt really matter, but I think most of us would like some sense of who we are talking with. I don't want to assume I'm talking to a guy when it's actually a girl, or think I'm dealing with a kid and turns out to be an older man.

I completely understand why female geeks/gamers/collectors would want to hide their gender. Fanboys can be overly aggressive and I'm guessing they'd like to avoid the hassle.

Sometimes it's easier to pretend and be treated as an equal than reveal the truth and get harassed by over-sexed morons.

Personally, I don't care what your gender is. If you collect toys and want to chat about it, then glad to have you.

And here's a tip for everyone. I understand wanting to use the correct pronouns when typing or speaking to people. But If you must know what the genders of Toyark members are, you can always send them a PM. Much more appropriate than discussing it in the Arker's own introduction thread. Whether they answer you or not is their business.
