I contacted Brdge Direct a few weeks ago to try and get a straight answer on the scale. The reassured me that it was a true 3.75" scale so the hobbits would be very small . From those photos , it looks like Gandalf is 4.25" like Marvel Universe. This is not a bad thing at all , it just bugs me that so many websites described these as 3.75" when clearly they are not.

I am still exited about these and overall I think they look alright. I definitely want some big ugly goblins but I might pass on some of the oversized Dwarves.

Found a handful of the smaller scale figures at TRU today, kinda pricey at $9.99 but they look really great. Picked up the only Gandalf, haven't opened it yet though.

Anyone know if other stores besides TRU will have these tomorrow?

I wouldn't be all that surprised if TRU cut a deal for an earlier street date like they did with The Avengers figures back in March. They got 'me a month earlier than Walmart and Target but when the other stores for them in April they sold figures at $7.99 instead of TRU's $9.99. Haven't been out to the stores, but there's not sign of 'em online.

TRU has updated their site with promo photos. Also for the 6" collectors Tauriel is back in stock, but Legolas is still out of stock.

I'm pretty sure that the Avengers line was out everywhere the same day with the exception of the few Targets that put them out a little early in February.

Saw these at tru. I'll kick myself later if I can't find a decent gandalf later, but I passed for $10. They looked decent. Not fantastic, but not terrible, either.

I will be crestfallen if they dont expand this line to LOTR at least for the 3.75 figures. These figures are superbly made and I highly recommend them for the 3.75 collector.

Bridge Direct would be seriously missing a huge revenue stream if they ignored making other figures outside the Hobbit lore.

Anyone else not find these anywhere yesterday?

Outside of the one TRU that I found a couple at a day early, no one else had any sign of these.

On a side note, I opened Thorin and I really like the figure only thing was that I wish it had a hole in the foot for a base, but that's just personal preference.

seriously debating those gandalf/bolg and gollum/bilbo sets. may wait till they're out everywhere or if TRU has one of those BOGO or 20% off all Hobbit toy deals they tend to have with movie merch.

anyone got a gollum opened? need to know if they gave him bendy arms and legs.

I opened mine. Gollum's legs aren't bendy, but they're a softer plastic. He's a very nice figure...

sweet. was wondering if there was any articulation in em. seen pics of him with limbs bent at the knee and elbow but the in box pics show em straight-legged and couldn't see any noticeable joints.

He's articulated at the head, shoulders, and both hips. He also has articulation right under the chest.

They need to do The Fellowship in this scale. They're awesome.

My TRU order just shipped but was split into 2 shipments. Both are coming from the same place and were shipped less than an hour difference from each other. But one is coming UPs ground and will be here tomorrow, the other is coming via UPS Sure Post and won't get here til Friday (and knowing my post office that really means Monday). The one coming tomorrow has the elves, warts, Goblin King and Gandalf/Bolg and I'll pics up ASAP. The other has the dwarves, Gollum and Bilbo so pics will have to wait on those. Psyched and frustrated at the same time, but mostly psyched to get some of these in hand tomorrow!

Here's a promo shot of Yazneg. No idea who he is, but he's played by the same guy playing Bolg, was originally named Azog, and was cast for both movies (before they became 3). Is he an orc? Goblin? Something to do with the Necromancer?

No idea on the scale of that Yazneg figure, but here's hoping its the 4" scale.

Got my first shipment of Hobbit figures and I'm loving them. Pics first, then some thoughts:

First a scale comparison

Now lets look at the baddies:

And a shot with the ToyBiz Sam and Frodo in goblin disguises (an army of which I'll be using as generic baddies)

Now some thoughts:
  • The skirts are very stiff plastic and really don't allow for a lot of movement. Legolas has one of the softer skirts, but there are no slits anywhere and doesn't provide any leeway for the articulated legs.
  • The baddies are awesome! They're chock full of articulation, detail, and greats it apps.
  • All figures could benefit from ankle articulation and peg holes in the feet.
  • The Goblin King is huge and really gross looking. He's also got a mid torso joint with a really good range of motion.
  • The wargs are tremendously awesome! Tons of detail and articulation and great paint apps. There are a few red splotches to mimic wounds and scars, but there aren't any sculpted scars, which would have been nice, but that's a really minor gripe. I also wish they had saddles like the ToyBiz warg. Regardless, I gotta have more!
  • Thorin looks great and I can't wait to get the rest of the dwarves.
  • The functional weapon storage is pretty great, though bow storage would have been nice for the archers.
  • I LOVE having a Gandalf the Gray figure in this scale!

Bilbo, Gollum, and the dwarves should be here Monday. I'll post pics as soon as I get 'em.
