*Spoilers* Azog was an orc chieftain of Moria and killed Thorin's grandfather. Thorin and his father gathered an army of dwarves and sought revenge, which resulted in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. Azog was eventually killed by Dain Ironfoot, in the same battle where Thorin got the name "Oakenshield". We may see this in flashbacks. In the movies, it is speculated that Azog is still alive or undead and allied with the Necromancer, and that Yazneg and Fimbul the Hunter are working for him. Bolg is the son of Azog and leads an army of orcs/goblins in the Battle of Five Armies at the end of The Hobbit. |

I personally like Gandalf, is a very wise, knowledgeable of all Middle-earth. Bears a resemblance to Dumbledore.

I misjudged the scale earlier. When I had a chance to see some of the very few figures at TRU , I could tell they are fairly accurate. Too bad there were only a few single packed figures there. I am planning on getting all of the 2-packs.

Got my Dwarves, Bilbo, and Gollum. Probably wont be able to post pics for a couple days but here are some impressions:
I really wish the tunics on these guys were softer. They don't need to be cloth soft goods, which rarely look good at this scale, but the Last Airbender figures had a great rubbery plastic that was soft and did not impede the articulation at all. It especially hurts on the Dwarves - since their legs are so short the hard plastic tunics render the lower articulation on Kili and Balin basically useless (similar to that of Gandalf and Legolas). The lack of ankle articulation also really hurts the shorter characters whose poses can be quite limited as is. Ankle joints across the board would be great and hopefully those get added down the road. Sculpting is impeccable, especially on all the tiny dwarf rune designs on all their costumes. Paint is great too especially on Dwalin's tattoos. Functional storage wins again! The weapon storage on everyone from Bilbo to Fili is amazing, with the sole exception being Balin who has no weapon storage. The functional scabbard for Sting is great! As is the knife and scabbard on Dwalin's belt! And Kili has a place to store his bow! I'm loving all of it and can't wait to see what they have in store down the line. Gollum is wonderfully sculpted and painted - love the way they nailed his stringy hair. And he's crazy scrawny. I'd be surprised if they found a way to articulate those arms and legs. That being said, I really wish there was more articulation to get better poses out of him, but he can get into a couple good skulking poses so that'll do for now. I think the hair sits a little high on the head, but other than that small gripe (and the one about the ankles) Bilbos is a fantastic figure and may be my favorite so far! He's got a great range of motion in all his joints, looks fantastic, and is scaled perfectly. A real winner! That's all for now. I'll get pics up as soon as I can, but it may not be til Friday.

I'll probably wait for them to go to discount stores =3. As for 6"....NEED THEM ALL. Even if they have mediocre articulation..

I was at Books a Million here in Winchester and they had the two packs and 6" scale figures. I grabbed Kili and Fili. They and the other dwarf two pack are 1 per a case while Legolas and Tuariel, Bilbo and Golum are two per a case. Not sure about the 6" as I am going for the smaller scale.
With Thorin I need 10 more dwarves, I didn't have the money for the other two pack. They were being sold for $21.99. A bit steep but I wasn't sure if they would go single and figured strike now while I have a chance. |

Toys R Us is having a sale on-line and in stores this week. I am not sure of the end date but it is going on now. Buy one, get one half off. There might be bigger sales later but I will use this opportunity to get a few for now. So far , I only have 3 . I opened Grinnah and I really like the quality .

The 3 3/4" figures are showing up in Wal-marts now, but shoved in odd places.

It was cool to see photos from Toyfair of the Epic Journey set with a bunch more dwarves. I thought I would wait and buy that but I bought some sets at kmart anyway.
Incase anyone does not know, Kmart has all of these Hobbit toys at 50 percent off. I did not post the news until I knew for sure that this was in effect at all stores. Some Kmarts have the clearance sticker price and no mention of further price reduction but the toy still rings up for half at the register. So single carded figures that have a $4.00 sticker are now $2.00 and the $8.00 6" figures are now $4.00. Fimbul and Warg are now $5.00 and the 2-packs are now $4.00. I hope that the sale will last through the weekend. Sorry for not posting it sooner. |
