What the heck? Seriously? Why wouldn't those countries allow a prop like this? It looks nothing like a real weapon. SMH.

Who knows. It might be that those countries would require other safety warnings on the product itself that would require compromising the look of the prop.

...I really hope I have the money for this come December. My Ghost Trap requires it.

In some of the countries, it could be something as simple as requiring that all the labels and warnings are multilingual. Or it could have something to do with [toy] weapon laws. Without knowing exactly what laws within each of those countries the Neutrino Wand would violate, it's just a weird puzzle for us. But it's not like Canadian and US collectors are strangers to this kind of situation.

I feel bad for GB fans in those countries, though. Based on what Scott said in the PR, I don't think it can even be imported as a collectible or movie prop via resellers.

Hi!

Dear Trebleshot

You said, "Based on what Scott said in the PR, I don't think it can even be imported as a collectible or movie prop via resellers."

What exactly do you mean by this??

Regards,
Robert

I'm speculating based on a particular sentence from Mattel's Press Release (the full version can be found in the link posted at the top of this thread). For convenience, I've quoted it here:

Quote:
To be compliant in all of these countries the Wand would have needed to look extremely different and that did not seem like the best service to fans.
Since he says that the Neutrino Wand would have had to look "extremely different" from the movie's depiction, I don't think resellers/importers would be able to modify the existing product enough to comply with each country's applicable laws. And even if they were able to do that, would their customers even want a product like that?
