Thought I'd start a thread where people can chime in to share info with fellow Hot Wheels collectors about the different variants and chase cars within each Hot Wheels line.

For instance, I bought a Hot Wheels Classics '47 Chevy Fleetline chase a couple days ago at my work. I noticed it had different rims from the other Fleetline in the case. And upon further inspection, it had RUBBER TIRES too! Not only that, but another way to differentiate the packaging from the normal ones, is the silver foil stamp at the top right corner, instead of the normal gray.

Know of any variant or chase cars within the different Hot Wheels lines? Post here and let me and everyone else know!

Some big time discussion going on here. I thought more people would be interested in the variants or chases....

For a brief time, I was knee-deep in the HW collecting world and I got out as soon as I completed the sets I was after.

But yeah, there are all kinds of crazy variants with Hot Wheels. It's why I don't even bat an eye about the variants with Marvel Universe or any other line. Nothing will top the fervor that HW collectors have for their hobby.

During that period though, some of the variants I've either seen or chased down were alternate/missing tampos, different-sized card backs, different paint jobs, different tires/rims and different packaging (such as a Bat-logo or no Bat-logo on the FE 2000 Batmobile card back).

Yeah, I'm not hardcore into it. I just buy what I think looks cool. And sometimes I don't even buy all those, because it's way too easy to go overboard on them due to them being inexpensive, comparatively speaking, and I'd much rather put that money towards a marvel figure or Transformer. I do like finding Super Treasure Hunts(but I haven't since they went over to the new system this year).

Oh, Treasure Hunts used to be the bane of my existance back in the day. And I felt like such a skeeve when I got the Walmart people to bring out unopened cases of HW even though there were two center aisle bins AND the regular peg aisle full of them.

These days, I'm the same as you. If it looks cool, then I might buy it. Especially if there's some kind of novelty to it, like the Batmobile from Batman:TAS, the Time Machine from BTTF or the A-Team van.

This year, I'm on the hunt for Kitt from Knight Rider.

I'm on the hunt for KITT too, man. If you see more than one, could you pick it up for me? My luck lately has been pretty crappy when it comes to HW.

Sure thing. I'm hoping he pops up soon, because most of the stores in my area have thin selections for HW at the moment.
