So..........I was cleaning out my room today and I came to the sudden realization (like many of us do) that I got quite the collection...to the point where I don't know how to contain it.

Now I know I dont have the biggest or even as big of a collection as some fellow arkers, but I wanna know how do you store/organize/show off your collection?

Do you display some, store some etc...

Im kind of weird in how I store my stuff. I have all of my stuff in seperate boxes.

I got a Marvel Universe box which is divided into smaller boxes with themes such as "Avengers" "Villians" "Mutants" "Army Builders" "Other Heroes" "Spare Iron Man, Cap and Spideys" "Big Figures" and "Vehicles"

The rest of my collection (DCIH, Indy, SW, Transformers, GI JOE POC, 12 inch GI Joe etc etc etc etc) are all in their seperate boxes.

If I display anything though its always with a dioramma. I simply however don't have enough room for all these boxes of boxes of boxes of boxes of figures...

Good topic!

Even after I sold most my G1 complete collection off, I still can't display everything I have. I'm either picky or focused on what I do display

I do have my Classics, but I'm picky on who I let in there, ex: ROTF Bludgeon won't go there, or any WFC Generations toys, and only the ones I like, no Tankor, Hot Shot, Dinobot, or Galvatron. I use Energon Galvatron with the wings removed as my Galvatron and some FP stuff and Igear Arcee.

I have a nice glass case for my 1/18 die cast collection (I think I have around 40 of them, been collecting those since high school and I'm out of HS 15 years, it is crazy how stuff piles up.

I never sold any of my Primes, so I have IKEA Detolf cases displaying my Rodimus stuff, one for Primes and one for Black Primes

I display all my Animated toys on a floating shelf, some boxed stuff on others, I've sold off a ton, but I still have closets full of Star Wars, GI Joe, McFarlanes, Armada Energon Cybertron (whats left) etc. that I have no room for.

my nightmare is I'm moving in 6 months and have to bag and wrap it all up

My collection is set up on bookshelves and seperated into categories. Top shelf is the "movieverse" with all the movie versions of the Marvel characters. The next shelf is "my" Avengers lineup{whomever I feel that is at the time}. Next is the Xmen shelf with all the Xmen and their allies. Then I have a larger area{two shelf areas together} for my Marvel heroes. Same goes for the villains under that. Then I have my Iron Man armory. Next to all these are seperate shelves with my "cosmic" characters like Thanos and Galactus. Under that is my army building shelves with both the good and bad armies such as SHIELD, Hand,AIM, and such. The rest of my collection as well as my old Mego dolls from the 70's and 6 in figures, Marvel Transformers are on the top of my entertainment center. All are loose as they take up enough room loose I can imagine what kind of room I'd need if I kept them MOC.

If I box em up, I box em up by line or property. Marvel with Marvel, DC with DC, GI Joe with GI Joe, transformers with transformers.

For display, I have a couple. One shelf is just pure villians from all genres so long as they match scale. Another is all Marvel Teams, another is just DC villians and Heroes, what I call the cosmic shelf since it focuses heavily on green lantern anyway. I have one shelf for just all japanese stuff, microman casshern, astroboy, kamen rider, Megaman and DoA. I also have an expanded japanese shelf for all the Robots, mostly sentai candy kits, and the occasional figure.

My last 4 shelves for toys are all transformers. One for the ark, one for the nemesis/decepticons, one for season 3 and the wreckers (easier so I can keep springer, kup and perceptor on the same shelf without having to buy multiples) and one for the history that collects the primes and cybertronian forms.

I also use the tony stark armory to display some figures, and a minimates house to display them. There's a military shelf ontop of the villians shelf that focuses on just the random gi joes I've accumulated (which is where my legion of Ashiko's will go if hasbro ever manages to get them in stores!) and has the ironman alcoves from target.

I might do pics later of them all.

My Transformers are displayed on various shelves in my office (based on series), with my original G1 toys in a glass case (I can't afford glass cases for all of my collection yet). The rest of the toys I own go through display cycles while those not on display are boxed up and stored.

Most of mine is in large storage bins in individual baggies. My joes are in a couple of big plastic bags, and their weapons are in tiny bags with labels.

I display my collection by faction roughly according to the (Transformers) Dreamwave comics, I've even gone so far as to match my Marvel Universe figures with them - X-men with the Wreckers, Avengers with the Autobots, etc.

In terms of my entire collection, I think of it as Classics, WST, Primatives (Transformers) and 3.75" (MU/IH) which I display at home.

Video Games - Mario, Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Mortal Kombat (and soon Streetfighter), which I have at work.

Power Rangers and 6" figures (Turtles, Ghostbusters, Gremlins and soon Thundercats) are safely stored in plastic boxes at home.

And finally my 1984/85/reissue and leader/Micromaster G1 figures, and Star Wars (SWTF and miniatures) are boxed up in my parents attic.

I dream of the day where I can display it all at the same time!

My 4-inch figures are bagged and sorted into baseball card boxes by line, series and wave. I use 3x5 and 4x6 craft baggies but I'm looking for an alternative -- I haven't had a problem with the bags yet, but I'm worried about them breaking down and damaging the paint. Six inch figures go in a Rubbermaid tub in my closet. Vehicles and playsets go on display in the living room. MOTU and vintage GI Joe vehicles are stored in the attic because they were taking up to much space. If I ever have grandkids, Castle Grayskull and all the tanks are fair game.

Can't believe I forgot about this one thing.

I keep ROTF deluxe ravage with my X-Men, acting as a predator X. I also keep legends ROTF ravage with my Decepticons acting as a puppy. Sometimes he ends up in entry form mode next to cybertron though.
