IMO, the new MU female buck is bad. Very bad. Garbage even. Even with few points less artic, the 1st lady buck is superior. The only bad thing about the 1st lady buck is it had no bicep/elbow swivel so it couldn't reach inward. The cons of the new buck are much more vast:

-Torso is too small.
The upcoming Rogue figure looks horrible because of this (and the legs). This isn't the buxom southern belle she should be. That being said, the torso would be pretty good...for little girls. So after they make a 1st App X-23, Magik, and Classic Jubilee, this torso should be about done. Unless we get some New Mutants or other teen female that are just as figure worthy. And unlikely.

-Torso crunch doesn't work. Neither my X-23 or Scarlet Witch have any crunch range.

-HIPS HARDLY MOVE! Do to the tiny hip wells on the tiny torso, the hip range is near non-existant. No high-kicks or leg triangles for X-23= Bull.

-Legs too long and skinny. I switched out the stilts on my X-23 and I'm about to do the same with Wanda. Those crooked, froggy chicken legs of hers gotta go. Sadly, it looks like Rogue has very similiar if not the same legs as SW.

I'm sure whatever heroin-model fan of a backward-idealist sculptor Hasbro has on the payroll thinks these are cute, but action figure-wise; the new female bucks are crap.

Thoughts? (Be warned, if your opinion differs be ready to debatle. )

I would agree with everything you said. BUT... I still like it more. In a static pose it looks better. I only have the X-23 so maybe when I get Rogue I'll feel the same way as you. But there really shouldn't be just one mold for the female. There should be like 3 standard. Average, skinny and tall, and a super babe. This mold could work for other characters but not many. I'm not sure why Hasbro can't do small things like have different length thighs to help adjust the hight of each figure. I was never a fan of the original female buck, but on some characters it worked. Ms. Marvel to name one.

Definitely think the legs are just a bit too long. I would like a ground-up new female buck but not seeing that happening.

So you agree that they have all these flaws including all the non-working POA and everything else that makes them unsightly including the skinny crooked legs and miniature torsos.

Yet you still like them more. I'm gonna have to figure you out one day Synapse.

Anyone else?

In all actuality, all both X-23 and SW need are different legs. That problem is somewhat easily remedied. But I don't wanna keep switching and repainting the legs on every chick fig from here on out.

Nothing can be done about the tiny torsos less than making a whole new figure.

My X-23's legs are not crooked. The sculpts legs are a bit long I think we all agree on that, and I would also agree that there is not enough clearance in the leg socket to allow the range of movement desired. But yes, despite these flaws I like the figure. I could see it working with some female characters as it did with X-23. But as always I would like more sculpts. I'm sick of figures being typecast into molds that don't accurately represent the characters.

In the 90's X-Men line Toybiz released new sculpts all the time. Most figures had their own sculpt. I don't expect that, but we could get some more diversity. Instead of having shitty side lines like XMO and Spider-Man, I think all figures should be released under the MU line. The money and resources that have gone to these half-ass molds could have been put into better molds that could then go on to be retooled for future releases.

But Hasbro seems to be the masters of stupidity.

I would say that the new female buck has a lot of potential. The leg issue is an easy fix for Hasbro. I would imagine some of the problem for X-23 was the lower legs being new and much larger than typical Marvel female legs. I have no issues with Scarlet Witch - but I was just so glad to finally get that figure!

The She-Hulk buck has a ton of potential and seems a lot better. I would be very surprised if we don't get a Titania or Volcana figure.

I agree that there should be several different body types for different female characters.

I agree I never liked that new buck the old buck is better proportioned if it was up to me all characters would have their own unique molds like earlier movie lines(xmo,CFA,IM,thor).

I like the X-23 buck for Scarlett Witch and Emma Frost, i.e. the spell-casters.

It was too tall for X-23 and yes the legs are too long. Hopefully Hasbro can fix the hip problem that she and She-Hulk have.

There should have been more muscular build for Rogue and other hand-to-hand fighters.

Hopefully the Electra figure fixes some of these problems.

The Avengers Black Widow body is okay, no? They should be able to repaint it with a recycled head into Sharon Carter pretty easy.

She-Hulk is the very best MU gets in my eyes. Of course I can always pick nits (bust and arm size), but realize that can get unreasonable.

True. It's Scarlet Witch that has that old Marvel Legends problem.

Very agreed. It's seems Hasbro wastes way too much time, money and resource on inferior offerings that are always soon re-made. If the initial product planning was the better, they'd make more money with us being much happier buyers.

I also agree about the interchangability. Each and every peice should be sculpted to look it's very best with attention to keeping the details ambiguous so that the part can be used on other characters. Easily interchangable parts are always great. For Hasbro (and customizers) to make the very best representations for each character while saving money and resources. I know there may not be a lot of Mattel fans here, but IMO that is the very big reason DCUC (and MOTUC) destroy both Toy Biz and Hasbro's Marvel Legends series in terms of consistant aesthetic quality.

Here's hoping. Both are a must since we now have a big girl body (Hasbro, don't waste it!). Titania is crucial. I like the duo of her and Absorbing Man and we need some veggina in the MOE meat fest.

Small (Magik, Jubilee, X-23, Shadowcat, etc), medium (virtually the majority of superheroines), and large (She-Hulk x10 repaints, Titania, Volcana) is most feasible.

She-Hulk has no hip problems. She's super great.

Hopefully, but those hopes are not high. I'm mostly hoping that the old female buck (or most of it) isn't fully retired yet.

Good idea. They can make a better single card Maria Hill as well. Though hopefully made with non-gummy plastics like ScarJo is.

My scarlet witches legs fell off instantly. the new mold sucks. Which is Jubilee?

She-Hulk, bobble head aside, is great.

I think Hasbro shouldn't take the cheap/douchey/crappy way out like they have with a few figures that aren't limited to gender (Jean Grey, Astonishing Wolverine, Old Man Logan, Scarlet Witch, Single Carded Storm, Black Widow etc.)

Idk about Jube. My Shulk doesn't have a bobble head. I was fearing that from hearing others. It's probably easily fixed with fingernail lacquer...?

I only have Wanda, and I like her fine. Her cape makes for dramatic poses though, so I don't know how I'd feel about other characters in the same sculpt. I'll see when Rogue hits.

Right now though, there are four different sculpts for females that I've come across: Storm/Jean/ect, Wanda, She-Hulk, and Maria Hill/Black Widow.

Of these, the last is my favorite.

Wanda is the same as X-23, and X-23 is the figure that had the horribly bowed legs. The only problem I have with the Avengers female figure is that it has neither waist articulation nor ab. It is a great figure for any character that wears a jump suit - Sharon Carter should have been a lock for this figure!

Agreed on the Sharon Carter comment! That was my first thought when I got Hill. If I had any custom talent in my bones I would full grab an extra Widow and do that.

the only thing they have to do is sand off that Widow emblem.

Chuck: they didn't even bother to do that with Hill (it's not painted, but is still in the sculpt). It doesn't detract though. Her holster belt covers the Widow symbol.

Laura and Wanda have different legs. Wanda has actual sculpted thigh-high heels. Her legs are just as long as X-23, but much worse since they are sculpted crooked. Mine has a right knee that's permenantly buckled.

X-23's legs tend to warp, but that's easily fixed. They're still stupidly long though.

Just got MU Beast in the mail yesterday and he seems to be sporting the same type of hips as the new female mold. Very limiting and annoying.
