After today's trip to the post office, i'm starting to think that to work at the post office, you must either be a total bitch if you're a chick, or a complete dick if you're a dude. I've never had good experiences with people at the post office, but this lady I dealt with today, was just short with me the whole time, and pretty much just wanted rid of me. I had alot of stuff to ship out too, and she acted like it was the worst thing in the world that I was shipping all this stuff. REALLY? Isn't that supposed to be your job? Damn i'm ashamed to be included in the human race sometimes. Do you guys have similar problems, or is it just me?

There's only one lady i've dealt with at the PO that I still see from time to time that was a b*tch a couple of times. Everyone else has been pretty kind. I thinks its the 80-20 rule, 80% of people are good while the 20% are jerks and make it seem as though there are a higher majority of jerk-offs in this world. Or is it the other way around...who knows??

I think anyone who goes to any retail shop like Walmart has had this feeling of why is this person such a douche? It doesnt matter where someone works or what they are doing, there will always be miserable people in the world and also good people that are having bad moments which cause them to be miserable in that particular moment.

Getting paid $8 an hour at places like Walmart doesnt help either.

Strangely enough I've never really ran into that many problems at Walmart...I've had clerks ask me if i'm buying a toy for my kid, and I'll be like "something like that" What I want to say but don't is "Yes, my inner kid" lol

i've had some really awesome experiences at my post office. once had to send a huge huuuge box to brazil for an ebayer and ended up holding up the line and i was getting nervous and visibly frazzled and the lady just calmed me down saying, "they can wait, it's your turn now." and went through the steps for how exactly i wanted it shipped, insurance, the confirmation receipt. also the guy working there used to teach me arnis and hapkido and i think he still runs the martial arts place in his off time. he prolly doesn't remember but he's a nice guy.

but yeah, i guess it depends on the place and the people.

Have you considered shipping via UPS?

They are a for profit business. It is in their best interest to offer professional customer service.

It does, but it's not like she was breaking her back helping me to get this stuff ready to ship. The extent of her work was getting boxes to ship, putting on the shipping label, and writing the address on them. Not exactly what I would call slave labor. Hell I could do a better job at it than that. For the kind of money those people are making you'd think they would be a little more courteous.

The guys at my local USPS Store are really awesome. They sometimes don't charge me for packing materials when I come in with something I didn't have a box for.

I think at the USPS (as with many work places) it has a lot to do with the culture. At PO's where the same a-hole employees have been allowed to treat customers however they please for years and years, that kind of attitude becomes pervasive.

I have a really awesome PO in a tiny town next to my work where they have only 3 employees and the front line staff couldn't be more polite and engaging. I sometimes bury them in parcels and spend 20 minutes at the counter and they still treat me like a valued customer.

The larger post office in the town where I work is the complete opposite. Tellers interact with me like I am interrupting their day. Then they talk to each other when they need to be paying attention to their jobs. I stopped going there when I found the new place.

I keep having unpleasant adventures at my PO. They only have 2 employees. The guy is cool but the woman is a bitch. First off where do they get off closing for 1 hr during the middle of the day. there only open from 9-5. I'f I don't leave work right on time I can't even make it.

I came in with a reused priority box that was going to cost almost $10 to ship just because of the priority writing. So I asked him how much if it were not a priority box and he says $6 so I told him I would just go home and cover it up with a paper bag. I come back and get the lady and she is bull shit that I covered up the box. She's all "you're not supposed to do that. I didn't even bother to tell her the guy standing next to her knew I was going to do this. She somehow made my package cost me just over $8 anyway that bitch.

She always gives me a hard time. I used to work at my local post office. I tell them that all the time when referring to the fact that I do know the rules are. I would much rather go to a different location than have to deal with her all the time. Thanks for letting me rant.

My Post Office is pretty much perfect, have some really nice employees there plus since we go there fairly often mailing out packages they're pretty cool and recognize me when I come in.

So I haven't had any problems with the post office whatsoever....guess I've been pretty lucky....even the mail carriers are nice.

Maybe it's because I'm in Canada , but never had any trouble with the post office, I've gotten mail lost but never had a rude rep.and if I did I'd be sending a not so friendly email to their boss with their rep id and name and demanding either a formal appology or some type of credit!

This is why I love the APC. AND it's 24-hours.

In their defense, that's gotta be hard having that hanging over their heads. I've been laid off before.

I've only had one or two rude ones at the Post Office but usually they're pretty nice and I got there a lot, whether to pick up items or ship them out.

No complaints here. With all of the clueless dipshits they have to hand-hold through the process of mailing something, I'm surprised at just how nice they are.

If this thread was about them losing packages, and the "go pound sand" attitude when you expect some sort of resolution; I could complain about that all day long.

Thinking about this again, arent there automated machines where you can do basically everything at almost every post office now a days?
Also you can have your label printed out online as well. This way you dont have to deal with any jerks at the PO.

They have physical locations you can go to, just like the post office does.

I don't go to the post office very often, but I've never really had a bad experience there. Maybe I've just been very lucky.

There are also several other stores that partner with UPS and will ship it for you, sometimes even free of charge if the package already has a shipping label on it.

They'll send you a kit (USPS) for free that contains everything you need to ship with them other than a printer and a scale.

..they really want to get rid of their employees.

EDIT- it's also cheaper to ship on your own as opposed to going through an office.

DAMN STRAIGHT, I get most of my shipping done from home unless it's over 10 pounds.

So I don't have to deal with the post office unless I'm shipping something damned heavy.

I have had nothing but good experiances at the post office. The closest thing I have to a bad experiance is when I am shipping trading cards and they question me as to what it is Im shipping
