lol

So let me get this straight, a new company picks up the license to MOTU, makes all of these promises, but then suddenly, OOPS!, Mattel lost the molds? WTF? How is this even possible?

My knowledge of MOTUC is limited but here it goes:

Classics - The main group of figures that Mattel put out for several years. Super 7 is continuing with this style and producing new figures.

Filmation - A separate line for figures that are meant to reproduce the old cartoon's visual style. Mattel released a few figures last year like He-Man and Skeletor.

Ultimates: Just re-releases of some of the more popular Classics figures like He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, etc. The figures will come with more accessories than the original Mattel figures. Mostly alternate heads that were released on variants throughout Mattel's run of figures.

It sounds strange to loose molds but yeah, it is possible. I know Hasbro/Takara have lost a few of their Transformers molds like G1 Sunstreaker. However in the case of Super 7, they specifically mentioned that the molds were either worn out, missing, or destroyed. Given the heavy parts reuse in the MOTUC line, the number of molds that are missing is probably a very low number. Most of the pieces needing to be retooled come from molds that are probably worn out due to heavy use. Or the molds were destroyed when they reached the end of their life, with the expectation that Mattel would have new molds made to replace them.

There's a difference from losing a mold to a toy from 25+ years ago to a toy made in the last 7 years. You would think that this would have been something Super7 would have made sure Mattel had given them BEFORE they signed the paperwork.

Consider this: a mold was used until it was worn out and destroyed. Since there weren't any upcoming figures that required that particular accessory, the destroyed mold was never replaced by Mattel. Therefore when Mattel and Super 7 signed their agreement, there was no mold for Mattel to give to Super 7. And this doesn't even take into consideration that molds could have been left behind when production moved to a different factory or even stolen by an employee. Mattel, and most other toy companies, doesn't actually oversee the factories that manufacture their figures. Whatever agreement Mattel and Super 7 signed only required Mattel to hand over what they currently had, which is why in the video the guy says that some of the molds they received are worn out.

Pros:
quality
height
comes w/3 heads
articulation
details on clothing

Cons:
not a "true" 7 inch (6" 3/4)
no droopy hood knob on 1 of the heads
staff kinda plain, color wise
should have included a laughing head
