			Hey everyone,

I have a quick question... I mostly focus on collecting Marvel Legends figures which usually average about 6". Lately, I have been consider collecting figures from other brands, and manufactures, etc and they use a "scale" for example 1/12 scale. Am sorry if I sound too much like a noob, but I am just trying to understand how this would compare to a 6" figure. For example what would the breakdown be for: 1/4 (if this exist) 1/6 1/12 1/24 (if this exist) . . . etc I think all I need is a reference, like lets say that a 6" figure equals 1/12... then I know that 1/24 would be way bigger for example... Thanks for any example or help anyone can give me regarding this matter. Also I am curious.... sorry for my ignorance but is this somewhat common knowledge, or would this be valuable information for new collectors who would also need to know this and maybe a subject like this should be sticky topic? thanks for any input |

These are roughly what each scale translates to in feet and inches. There's always give or take depending on characters.

			1/1 Scale - Life Size (usually about 6' tall) 1/2 Scale - 3' tall 1/3 Scale - 24" 1/4 Scale - 18" 1/6 Scale - 12" 1/10 Scale - 7" 1/12 Scale - 6"

1/18 is 3.75" or 3 3/4" BUT since Hasbro has been making their Modern 4 inch figures taller than most, they've been closer to 1/16

Most of the Joe characters are about 6' tall so reducing them to 1/18 would be 4" not 3.75" The easiest way to figure out scale is to take the size of the character and divide by the scale. I'm 6'1" so 73 inches a figure of me in the following scales would be 1/1 scale is 73/1 = 73 inches so 6' 1" 1/6 scale is 73/6 = 12.17 inches 1/12 scale is 73/12 = 6.08 inches 1/18 scale is 73/18 = 4.05 inches Last edited by theArchivist; 08-10-2016 at 11:24 AM.. |

See I can never get that math right since I've always believed that 3 3/4" is 1/18. Played with old-school GI Joe and started to collect when they came back. Kind of like the discussion about 25mm miniatures: eye level or top of the head.

Wow, thanks! This information was explained perfectly! lol. See, I thought the lower the number, the smaller the figure, but now that I understand the reference of comparison it actually makes a lot of sense now.

Just a warning though.. Sometimes figures advertised in a similar scale might not look right together when they're from different companies, especially when it comes to 1/12 figures.
