So, I went to Wally World today and ppicked up yet another AIM soldier to customize and decided to check the Cap pegs for the green comic Hydra varaint.

I already had one and was kinda "Meh" but it was there so what the hell, right?

So I'm looking at this while watching Firefly and it looks really really good...except the eyes.
Hydra uniforms have red goggles (infravision or somesuch).

So I decide to repaint all my cap line goggles to red...and then I see that the new Hydra soldier is NOT the "attack" soldier, but the other kind!
Different head, different patch on the arm (the other variant has none- the dark ones a red patch to this one's yellow Hydra emblem) and yellow harness (the other version looks like ass with a brown harness!).

Anyone else notice this? Am I the only one with both versions?
Can I sell it and retire to my own carribbean island?

Yeah, if you're talkin about the dark versions, they aren't variants, but 2 diff waves completely. If there is a green/yellow hydra in both waves then that's news as currently only one of the 2 have a comic color variant that I know of.

Not the Deluxe version- which sucks- but a comic colored version of BOTH kinds of trooper.

Both kinds of the troopers pictured here, only with the bright green paint- the version with the molded on "H' helmet hasa yellow harness and the other a brown version.

Also, as mentioned, the holded helmet version has a comic Hydra emblem patch while the other has none and the movie colored versions both sport red movie patches.

Prior to this, I heard there was only ONE Hydra fig variant- bot both.

Anyone else got both?

This is news to me. I didn't know there were 2 different Hydra Troops. I would only pick up the comic colored ones. These do look cool and who knows when I actually see them.

I didn't know there were so many versions of goons. I've seen less goons (non-deluxes) than I have Crossbones so far.

Correct, there are two comic-colored Hydra troop variants. Red Skull had a comic-colored variant as well.

I haven't found the Hydra Armored soldier variant yet. However, I have purchased the Attack Trooper variant at Wal-Mart and the Red Skull variant at two different Target stores.

Following are pictures of the variants I have found:

I have seen movie versions of both the armored and attack, but the only variant comic version I've seen is of the armored.

I had no idea there was a variant Red Skull, now I want to find one, lol. I'm still hoping to find a couple more of the Hydra goon variants as well. Right now I have two normal and two variants of the wave 3 version. Maybe someday I'll find the wave four ones. *sigh*

The variant Attack Trooper is the one to get- better head sculpt and yellow comic harnes make it the perfect Hydra fog...once you paint the eyes red, that is!

I saw these the other day. I think they're the exact same figures with a different gun, so I left them on the pegs.

Yeah, but has anyone ever seen the Hydra episode of the 80's Hulk cartoon, "Enter She-Hulk"?

Methinks it's time to start hitting Targets again. That's the only store I've ever seen the ones from the third wave at, maybe wave four has started to hit now.
