Nowadays I usually make it a point to buy something rare that I want. I don't just buy something because it's rare tho, I usually need/will find a use for it.

Two stories both concern figures of The Question from DC.

One time I saw the 3.75in Blue suit Question at a target I believe and didn't get him. Never saw him again, but I did find a two-face who is the exact same mold with a different head. Considering that line wasn't that good, I didn't care too much.

On the other hand tho, I had found DC Universe Classics The Question at Chicago Comic-Con. After scouring the whole center I finally found one for $45. The guy who sold it to me let it part for $40, and said it was probably the very last one in the whole convention. But guess what? A month later I found him stocked in with some Supermen and Mr. Miracles at my own local goddamn Target for retail. Annoyed, to say the least.

There's been times where I've gone back for something later in the day and already missed my chance. I try to not do that anymore.

Nothing huge, but two things come to mind..

1) Classics Prime - I just got into collecting and did get myself one of these, but I wanted to get one to keep MISB because I liked the fig that much, but felt it was a stupid move to buy two of one toy. After all,.. I was only going to buy about five or so TF's (that didn't hold true).

2) RoTF Bruticus - Superion shelf-warmed the hell out of my Target. Once they got Bruticus in I was going to get one, but the line was too long and I didn't feel like waiting. Three days later they were all gone. Still plenty of Superions though.

The first Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles Goliath and Super Skrull 2 packs. They had a ton of them at my Walmart on clearance for 12 bucks. I regret not buying any.

A dealer at a flea market had a loose ML Yellowjacket for $3, but I left it because I figured it was missing parts. I found out it wasn't when I went online that afternoon, and when I went back to get it the next weekend it was gone.

The whole Transformers classics line lol...I was like 14 and my older siblings were really pressuring me to stop getting toys and I caved for a year or two. Of course I dropped out during the second golden age of Transformers.

I hate you. I need to get one of those because I have the City Commander without any version of the Prime mold. Plus having a Skywarp would be bad ass.

I passed on Universe starscream and prowl for 3.00 each a couple years ago at walmart. I had stopped collecting transformers temporarily and now I kick myself.

MP Skywarp at walmart was on clearance for 30 bucks and passed on it, i thought to myself that I would rather spend that money buying MP Starscream since I dont have him and since I dont have him, i felt it would be odd to have MP Skywarp and no other seekers.

Thats an AWESOME idea, I never even thought of having my TFs autographed. I have never been to any convention (Botcon, comiccon, etc). I have always wanted to go to botcon just once to see what it is like, but I never thought i would really care to go again (maybe a little overboard for my taste), but getting one of my figures autographed by the people who did voices for the character or even having Michael Bay sign a figure. I cant believe I never thought of this, its simple and like having a baseball player sign their card. Is it pretty easy to get ur figures signed, do u pay cash, are they stingy about signing stuff like that?

It's so easy man. Haven't been to SDCC but at Botcon it's part of the itinerary and there are no extra fees that I'm aware of. I paid for a primus package and everything was included. Certain guests are there to sign autographs for a specified amount of time. I was in line for Peter Cullen several hours before the line opened (I wasn't the only one ) They'll sign anything you want they don't care. They usually have a limit. For Peter Cullen it was one item and I don't believe you had had time to take pictures. Depends on the guest. Good thing I showed up earlie because people who were in line got turned away once he had to go.

I'm 29 right now and I still remember seeing ARAH Leatherneck on the shelf when I was a kid. Must have been about 8. I also remember my mom telling me to ask for him from Santa. I finally bought one last summer.

I've had this feeling a BUNCH of times. I will probably post more later on once I remember more.

Off the top of my head, my big regrets were passing on the Gundam Arch Enemies Wing Zero Custom and Tallgeese III...I only saw the latter ONCE and these were the very best Gundam figures made by Bandai America. ABS plastic was used...at a time when PVC was the dominant material in Gundam action figures. Also the figures were in 1/100 scale and the most detailed Gundam figures available domestically.

Lots of Marvel Legends and other Toy Biz 6" figures I regret passing on. Also regret passing on Jazwares Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Reptile and Smoke. Also the short lived 8" Knights Of The Zodiac figures by Bandai America.

So far I have been regretting not buying a Cybertron Soundwave. I thought to myself "Meh, he doesn't even turn into a stereo, I'll pass". Then my brother showed me a video of a made up Stereo form and I was all "OMG!!!!" So now I am looking up and down for this guy, and can only find MEGATRON. I'm really kicking myself in the ass on this one.

There were several items during the Toy Biz Marvel Legends run that I had passed up on at the time, that thinking back now I wish I hadn't obviously.

I absolutely regret passing up the NECA Turtles. I think at one point I had both the colored and B&W sets ordered at BBTS, and cleared them out when I was trying to trim some preorder fat.

On a Turtle note, I think I passed up on all of the reissue Ninja Turtles that were available at retail recently. Wish I would have picked at least one of everything up.

I've also regretted passing up on a few Cobra BUGG and Rolling Thunder auctions a couple years back, seems like the price on all that stuff has gone up lately.

My biggest regret was passing up on Voodoo loonnngggg from the WildCATs.

Back then it was the only figure I needed to complete the team, and at the time i saw it, I was still a kid and couldn't afford it. Of course I have it now and its so easy and cheap to find on eBay lol

I think that's pretty much it, or at least the only big regret that I can think of...

This is the big one for me, the one that ALWAYS pops into my head everytime a thread like this turns up. I hate thinking about it, but I figure maybe talking about it will eventually let me get over it.

So I remember the Marvel Legends Icons too well, specifically the Iron Man one. Now there were two versions, one where the gold was just your typical yellow paint and then a special variant where it was gold. I remember finding the variant around Christmas time and for some reason not having the cash on my though I had a shit load at the time.

My then-girlfriend convinced me she would pick it up as a gift... Of course she didn't. I don't know if it was because she never went back(which is well within her bounds) or if the numerous figures just got snatched up. Ever since then I've regretted not finding a way right back to the Wal-Mart I was at. That period of time was the height of my Iron Man obsession, but it always stings a bit in the back of my head when I think of it.

My stories aren't so much ones where I passed or missed out...quite the opposite, but equally painful.

Jumping on figures that I SWORE would never go retail, paying 5-10X their worth, only to spot them later @ retail. (Carnage, Phasing Vision, Variant Warpath, etc.)

When I think of what I have overpaid on impatience it makes me want to chew gravel.

All if the Transformers classics line, the Universe Unicron rerelease, and the Neca Ken Masters figure. Now, the Ken Masters fig is out again, but I'll probably put it off once more...Damn not having a job.
