Iron Man 3

Iron man 3 Movie Poster

We are far from seeing "Iron Man 3" in theaters but the new director Shane Black has been chosen. Actor Robert Downey, Jr will reteun as Iron man with little detail about the direction of the next film.

Staff Edit: As the movie has been released, this thread will contain spoilers. If you have not seen the film yet and don't wish to have plot elements or scenes ruined, please exit now. Otherwise, read on. You have been warned.

While I did enjoy IM2, I certainly felt that the battle at the end was just way too easy. I mean he took out ALL of the drones with some fancy laser, and then the two of them took out Dynamo in like 2 minutes. In any event I am definitely looking forward to the third film and to see what Black can do with it.

Rumor has it IM3 will be loosely based on the Extremis story line. As cool as it sounds, I kind of hope Stark doesn't get to a point where he can simply control the armor with his mind. Seems kinda cheesey.

Agreed, having Jarvis help him makes it so much fun.

How'd that even happen? That's crazy. Paying one guy who before iron man was still in his rehab can we hire this junky phase. I was in a movie with a bloated val kilmer.

Absolutely brilliant. But those guys deserved more than 3mil

I'm not in any way qualified to dispense that kinda of pay check but these are the facts:

Captain america and thor had their own movies with the same stars. That should entitled them to be on par with RDJ. There were only two iron man movies because that came out first. I can see paying hawkeye and hulk lower because other than hawkeye uncredited cameo in thor he hasn't been a part of the franchise, and the hulk is a fresh cast.

Pay the damn actors more.

I think the fact they are filming the movie in Asia is an easy give away they will have the Mandarin. I don't see the Extremis story line translating to the big screen well at all. I think they will probably delve into the alcoholic side of Tony's personality (the dark side of it. not the funny witty social drinker he has been portrayed as)

Holy crap- that wuld be a hell of a stretch to stick Coldblood 7 in there!
Why would they possibly do tha when they could do the Extremix story and upgrade not only the armor but Tony as well?

Dont get me wrong, I loved Coldblood 7 (for no good reason though) but he has not been seen since freaking out in the 42 prison in Civil War.

The extremis armor wasn't stored in his bones just the under sheath. The current bleeding edge was housed in his bones in its entirety, and that I agree was/is stupid. Hopefully its gone for good now since it was recently purged from his body by Reed Richards at Stark's request. There's a new armor now piloted by a presumed dead to everyone but Tony and the reader Rhodes, but the armor looks like a Tron costume reject to me. Hopefully when Tony becomes Iron Man again, and he will, he will have something much better that lasts longer than the recent two armors did.

You forget that IronMan relaunched the whole Marvel Movie Franchise, and IronMan 1, made more $$ in box office and dvd/blu-ray sales then thor and cap combined. basically people pay $$ to see RDJ, hense sherlock homes 1 and 2. Last good movie Cap was in was Fantastic 4, and last good movie hawkeye in was the hurt locker, as in they don't make many good movies, so don't pay them much, also IronMan's face is plastered on all kinds of merchandise so he gets a lot of royalty checks.

Plus RDJ is the "comeback kid"- having fallen off the map with drugs and then getting clean, married doing Iron Man and now he's back on top of the world.
He only got half a million for doing the first Iron Man movie and 12 million for IM2 and now FIFTY MILLION for Avengers!!!

Shows that Marvel knows where all that money from the Iron Man movies came from, and it aint Paltrow, baby!!

Matt fracton's done SO much damage to Iron Man...how is it that Iron Man is amazing in The Avengers, New Avengers, Carnage...whatever, except his own damn title?!?

The Tron Suit is a nightmare- and I dont think it's even Rhodey in there based on the Diamond solits.
I think it's another suit with no person, based on Tony's brain patterns- like the Hypervelocity armor.

No its Rhodey. The latest issue shows him in it in the last panel.

To be honest its only the resilient, Fear itself tie in and Demon story arc that has been really slow for me. Everything else fraction did was already happening as a product of Norman Osborn taking over in Dark Avengers in terms of why Tony was broken down. I think maybe its because Tony is kicking ass everywhere else in Marvel books that Matt feels okay spending some time focusing on him being so broken in his solo book. I would definitely like to see him kick some more ass, and very soon. Preferably in some non Tron looking armor. Please no Tron armor, Sal.

Having now read a large portion of his silver age stories and all of his director of shield run the only thing I'm really disappointed in is the recent changes matt made to Mandarin. I agree with you that what they did for him in the Haunted Story line shouldn't have been diluted to what he's being portrayed as now.

I do like the revamped villains and I do like how everything that has been brewing since the 5 nightmares back in 08 is now coming full circle and reaching its boiling point. I also like seeing how Tony can win without needing to be in the suit. He's resourceful as fuck, but even in the haunted story line he at least needed his older armor to beat Mandarin. I feel like fraction is also exploiting his addiction to the suit more than the alcohol. When i see the 22 days sober reminder at the beginning of issues I see the toll being unable to be Iron Man is really taking on him.

Another problem in my perspective is this Iron man run does not read well in single issues but will collected. When i look at fractions run as a whole body of work put together instead of individual shortcomings I appreciate what he's done with Tony and his supporting cast...but DAMMIT they shouldn't have changed Mandarin! Lol.

Btw, thought you might enjoy this. I did at least:

Whoa interesting take, will be cool to see how they use him and Mandarin together.

I need to rewatch IM again, I don't remember them really focusing on Tony's drinking problem, would be surprised if they did just cause they're trying to catch the all audience in general...

Yes. But that article expands on the villain role, most notably confirming that the Mandarin has been altered to protect the Chinese Image.

Did you see the pics? It certainly has the star in the middle and looks nothing like Detroit steel...but I could see it being called Detroit steel for some odd reason in the movie lol.

it seems so out of place though to use iron patriot without norman osborn. Plus he looks like a repainted war machine.
