I know as soon as I saw it without the chest piece I thought it looked badass with the more futuristic looking weapons & the mask looks well done (I tend to call the masks with the bottom jaw painted differently "Vampire" or "Fanged IM" since the colors give off that illusion)

I bought him and is amazingly nice figure, worth the $15.99 it cost me, the missle cannon was a little tricky getting it to snap on, but the paint apps, mask sculpt and articulation is sick, also the metal pegs for the armour is a nice touch.. I semi wanted a chest piece, but it still looks basass either way... also snagged the stealth armour, nice figure as well, digging the red highlights, and the 6 interchangable hands are always a nice touch.

Looking over the SDCC pics. It looks like the 6in line will continue. Did I miss pics of the 3.75?

The on;y figure I'm interested in is the Mark V with a non-gimmick suitcase accessory... and I picked up one dirt cheap on eBay already. marvel figures are exhausting. I want more waves with diversity, but Hasbro chocks each wave full of main hero variants... blarg.

No, the 3.75" line is probably done. Especially considering the one wave they made for it is still nowhere to be found.

If I were doing this line, wave one would have been Mark V, Mark VI, Whiplash, War Machine, and a generic Hammer drone. In my hunts, I've heard many kids and parents upset at the inability to find anything but Iron Man, when they wanted to have all the bad guys too. Wave II would have introduced a few armor variations, his older armors, and maybe a Whiplash in battle armor. All the waves after that could do whatever they wanted, because the basic stuff the kids AND collectors would like would have already got the product moving.

Same deal with Thor, Captain America... why can't Hasbro dedicate themselves to getting more characters on the shelf before getting into variations? Imagine if the old Star Wars POTF series had been nothing but Luke Skywalker for the entire first wave!!

You make a good point. One you think Hasbro would catch onto by now. I can forgive the constant insertion of top tear characters like Spidy, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man and others into the Marvel Universe line. It helps the line to sell because while collectors are grabbing up the nobodies, kids are freaking over the main characters. But when it comes to lines like Iron Man and Captain America, kids want bad guys to fight. If they can't find them they will stray onto others things. When I was a kid I liked getting as many characters as possible. But at the least i wanted someone to fight, but when you go to your local toy store all you can find is Iron Man or Captain America. How many years of shelf warmers and clearance sells is it going to take them to figure out that there is an element to their distribution practices that doesn't work and needs some consideration. I don't think I've seen one Captain America villain at retail. And I think that all the Iron Man villains I have I've ordered. Now i hear that stores are dropping Marvel lines because of all the shelf warmers.

I've found about 6-7 Crossbones, 2 Red Skulls, and I found like 6 deluxe Hydra's once (bought one, went back the next day and the rest were gone).

It's rather interesting, but one of the most evenly-distributed toy lines I've ever see is Tron Legacy, and it tanked. But there were seriously more villain figures than heroes, and finding the villains was never a problem!

I will say that Mattel has a great idea of distribution because when you see the WWE figures they have 3 or so of each guy in each case assortment so you are almost guaranteed to nab them (if you beat the scalpers before they get all the Macho Man figures LOL). The other part of it shows that the amount of heroes to villains works well too since they don't produce too many gimmicky variants. I don't see why Hasbro doesn't see that & understand that they should produce more evenly when it comes to characters because even the Dark Knight things did well since there were a good ratio with the heroes to villains figures. That gave people enough of a chance to nab their favorites or all of them if they wanted to. You had only like 3 or so versions of Batman but a lot of Bank Robber Clowns, Jokers, two Faces, & Scarecrows. This gave people a chance to get a hero & villain from the movie

I was actually interested in getting a few of those figures, but unfortunately, none of the stores in my area got over the IM2 line. Over 16 months since they were initially released and still full priced.

There is one Kmart in my area that had the Iron Man 2 figs on clearance the other day. My son picked up several for like $2.00 a piece. This is the only place that I have seen them on clearance at. All the others still have them at full price.

Now that's a deal. It's better than my Target that actually went up in price last month to $9.19 each!

I got one like that last week! Sad to see it clearanced so soon, but with all the Blaster Armors choking the pegs, they have to move 'em somehow.
