Hey guys, just wondering which figures everyone prefers overall when comparing MU figures to figures from the movie series/other series. I'm excluding anything from before MU and the XMO line.

For example;

Marvel Universe Classic Iron Man vs. Iron Man 2 - Comic Series - Classic Iron Man

Captain America: The First Avenger Heavy Artillery Captain America vs. Marvel Universe SDCC 2010 Invaders Pack Captain America

A few others are: Winter Soldier, Iceman (MU TRU Exclusive and XMO comic series), Spider-Man (SDCC 2010 movie version, various MU versions, and Super Poseable Spidey from Spider-Man Classics) Green Goblin (MU version and Spider-Man Classics version), Bucky Cap (MU version and newer Cap movie wave 2 comic series).

I'd just like to hear people's thoughts on which ones they prefer in their collection when they're assembling their Avengers.

Here are my picks:

Captain America - Secret Wars version
I was planning on making the new comic version as my main Cap, but I decided to retain the SW version. I find the new one too short, and I don't like the headsculpt that much.

Green Goblin - definitely the ML Showdown version. If you're only counting Hasbro figs, then the one from the 2-pack boxset.

Iceman - I like the XMO version better.. transluscent plastic.. ooohh. Too small though, but yeah, I like it better than the 3pack.

Winter Soldier - the new one from the Cap line. Definitely.

Spiderman - again, the ML Showdown. For Hasbro, I think the best one is the SDCC movie version although its a little short. The upcoming one with the Cap Britain two-pack looks promising though, given the thigh swivels (better articulation).

Bucky Cap - the new one from the Cap line.. as long as you find one with good paint.

Iron Man - Stark have a lot of iconic armors so it really depends on what kind of Iron Man era you want to represent. My favorites are: Bleeding Edge, Extremis, and the rest of the comic armors from the IM2 line. I don't like the earlier MU IM figs.

Wolverine - the ones from the XMO line. The previous MU ones are too big. Good thing that Hasbro is reusing the Astonishing mold from the XMO line for the newer MU figs. The Wolverine from my Xforce box set is already sporting it! Yay!

Thor - ML Showdown version for classic look. For Modern version, I prefer the colors of the 2-pack figure with IM.

This is pretty easy for the most part...

-IM2 Comic Series "Classic (Ditko)" Iron Man

-Cap:TFA "Heavy Artillery" Captain America

-Cap:TFA Winter Soldier
No comparison.

-MU Iceman
XMO is too small and can't look up

-MU Spider-Man
Tough one. Idk really. I just like the size and build of the w1 MU version. The multiple colors are also cool.

-SMC: Green Goblin
Tough one here as well. I like his size and sculpt, but I wish he was better painted with a better glider. I hope I don't start another argument with that one.

-Cap: TFA Bucky Cap
Absolutely no comparison. The movie line is doin' Barnes up proper! The MU version is okay, but the movie version could be perfect. Let me look at him. Yep, with TFA HA Cap's shield, GIJoe VvV Tac harness, GIJoe Resolute Trooper backpack, and various Joe guns, he is the best 3 3/4 Marvel figure IMO.

Good thread, i've seen some comparisons on other threads but its nice to have it all in one place.

Captain America - single pack ultimates MU captain America, perfect match to the comic book figure imo.

Green Goblin - It's a toss up to me, I dont have the showdown figure but from the looks of it, hes probably the best. I only have the 2 pack and other than the bright green color, its a solid figure.

Iceman - The XMO figure looks better but his articulation is terrible and its hard for him to stand. I dont like the 3 pack MU iceman at all. Terrible figure IMO.

Winter Soldier - I'd have to pick the long haired variant winter soldier from the MU line. A little more detailed imo. The Cap line is close second and I really like the rifle that comes with him.

Spiderman - The ML showdown figure looks very detailed but most of the MU spiderman figures are cool with me. The accessory backpack on the house of M spiderman is pretty cool and I really like the paint on him.

Bucky Cap - The paint on the new captain america movie line heroic age bucky is awesome. Have to go with him.

Iron Man - The modular iron man is probably the best especially because of his articulation.

Wolverine - My personal favorite is the Jim Lee unmasked xforce Wolverine.

Thor - Close between the MU comic pack and the single carded MU modern thor. I had to get both because they are both really nicely done and represent Thor well either way.

Definitely a big NO! to the first three MU Iron Mans- they looked like a prepubescent kid in armor- no chest definition, heck- no chest muscles at all!
The MU Silver Centurian was a bad joke of a fig- looking nothing like the comics version in any way while the IM2 Comics Series Silver Centurian is almost perfect.
Any of the movie line (particularly comic series) beats the early MU hands down.
They finally nailed it with the Bleeding Edge IM.

The new Heavy Artillery Captain America is damn near perfect- dead on with the comics look and far superior and better muscled than the MU Cap while still being the same height- making Cap in scale with Thor (and close to the Bleeding Edge IM which is slightly small).

Gotta go with -Cap:TFA Winter Soldier and Bucky Cap over the MU versions (though it's a close one with Winter Soldier).

I'm in the minority here but I love the comic pack Spider Man figs- they're physiclly smaller than the other MU figs (making for a nice scale look- Peter should be smaller than Cap!). The figs pose well and look great next to the bigger figs- you have Black Costume Spider (comic pack) fighting Rhino (from the otherwise sucky Spidey line) nad you've got an swesome match up!

I feel you on most of that. All the early MU Classic Iron Men were crap. So was Cap. It's weird how the movie Cap figures are the same height as most MU, but they're so stocky it makes them look shorter. That's a good thing. I like Spidey relatively thin as well (shout out to all us sinewy guys) but they CP Spidey's are kind of long (tall). No big deal really though.

Oh. You said xforce in your description. That fig does have a pretty good, yet weird expressioned head sculpt. Those early MU Wolverine bodies are just soooo far out of scale...

I prefer the Cyclops that recently came out the jim lee style, but the 1 that WO released with the optical beam is an awesome touch. MS green goblin and doc oc I prefer, but there is no MU doc oc, which is odd, there's so many spiderman villians they have yet to make especially in the MU figures.

A few of my choices. I went more with which versions of a character I use or prefer as opposed to just MU vs. other lines.

IM2 Comic Ironman over MU Comic IM

MU Loki (from GB set) over movie versions

XMO brown suit Wolvie over any of the MU Wolvie's I own

MU Jim Lee Cyclops (the new one) just retired my XMO Comic cyclops

Cap Movie Bucky Cap over any other comic looking Cap (I also really like the movie Cap fig) -- I retired my MU Ultimate Cap for this figure. I only want a single Cap representative on my shelf, and it's this guy... easy decision.

WW Hulk is my lone Hulk representative... I do not see that changing anytime soon. I retired my regular MU Hulk for WW version.

MU Modern Thor over any movie Thor.

IM2 Comic War Machine is my only War Machine and that's probably not changing soon either.

The revision MU Punisher is my Pun of choice (over the original release and the Target version with headband).

MU Target two pack GG. The paint colors are a little nicer for me... especially the glider. Just a little more metallic or something.

I don't have either of these, but..

MU House of M Spidy is my preferred Spidy.
I prefer the 35th Anniversary Storm over the Comic two pack.

Oooh my turn my turn!

Modular Armor Iron Man (for being so quick to release despite being newly introduced)

Astonishing Wolverine XMO ( the modern costume just looks better)

Bucky CAP. duh (although its so hard to find one with good paint and a decent A on his forehead)

Heavy Artillery Cap ( the MU cap just looks so bland and plain) plus HAs cap got the best shield. ever.

Modern Thor (2-pack). im a sucker for brighter colors.

Deadpool (2pack) i really dont get the y-thing from xmo. its just in the way most of the time.

johnny storm variant (black/blue) for my fantastic four representative. Although MU has yet to release a complete set of the 4 in matching costume.

ML showdown spidey is the best hands down. the MU spideys have weird eyes and cant beat the articulation of ML showdown spidey.

Cyclops (torn between jim lee and first class) the sculpt on the jim lee cyclops is amazing but the costume on first class seems better.
