So if I donate $10 do I get 2 shots at it?

Yup. You'll get two tickets rather than 1 which will give you a higher chance at winning.

Oooo, is it worth it? It's either like $15 lost, or a rare item for just $15

I'm game, I want to throw my 2 cents in as well.

Little known fact about the Dub here is I'm an avid bowler, and quite familiar with Bowl-a-strike/raffle type contests. So I think a bit of ground work is needed here.

I want almost everything listed on the straw poll, but since there are so many choices it will be tough to pick just one, and on top of that not all of those are in the $100 price range, some more & some less. Now I'm good with that too, but what happens when a Henchman 3 pack get chosen and a lot of people on the board wants it (army build) and we have 50 people paying $5 (assuming each person only buys one ticket, not likely) so now there is $250 in the prize pool for only a $70 - $80 prize? I think that if done correctly the prize pool could pay for the next prize and then possibly do an even larger prize for the same $5 entry, once a few contests have concluded.

Basically the person taking the money for the "tickets" would be responsible to buy the next prize based on the sales of the previous raffle.

Thoughts?

to do a raffle on a pre set prize with a known value you would have to establish a pre determined percentage of cost per ticket and a pre determined number of tickets to avoid collecting extra cash. you could do an open raffle with unlimited number of tickets, then donate the rest to charity. paying 10$ for a one in ten chance is good, paying 10$ for a one in fifty chance not so much. You could just do the "raffle" for money to be spent on a figure, but if you do that there are league issues for essentially running an unregulated lottery. remember WE WILL ALL GET IN TROUBLE IF ANYONE (including the contest itself) MAKES A PROFIT. Plus you need to have the raffle rules and how the winner will be chosen, published for all contestants to agree to, with a disclaimer, like "by way of participation in this contest you agree to accept all terms and conditions", just to cover your ass. It sucks, but in the world we live in anyone can sue you for anything. We could all just put our collections into a tontine....but I smoke, so that probably wouldn't work out for me.

Kylactus, I just got an idea. If everyone is cool with it, we could use the rest of the money to invest in something kick-ass for the toy drive thing like a playset.
