I'll be the first to admit that I watched this show and really enjoyed it. A girl who transforms into this rocker chick with her band by her side? That was awesome! I remember my sister, yes my sister, had a bunch of the figures and a stage for them to perform on. Don't remember this quintessential show of the 80's? Check out what Retrojunk has on it.

As a fan of music, Jem really appealed to me growing up. I didn't have any of the dolls but the show was fun. I think Hasbro should take a crack at this line again, it might prove to be popular.

I didnt even know they actually made toys for this, though I guess it should be a no brainer they did. Honestly though I dont think I've ever seen Gem toys.

Jem was a line of Dolls that were slightly larger then Barbie. Jem herself had red star earings that lit up.

Here is a good site to check out the line of toys.
Jem Dolls Hasbro 1985 1986 1987

One of my favorite toy lines is the Justice league Unlimited from Mattel. I love the Bruce Timm Animated style and I thought it would be fun to bring some other characters from different cartoons/toy lines etc into it. The toys themselves are pretty simple to customize. So my first attempt at a custom was Jem herself. At some point I want to redo the head, but here is a picture of my attempt

I could see that as a possible influence, especially Dazzlers early look with he white suit.

Nothing to be ashamed of Synn, the show rocked.

Jem was the best! I loved her light up earings, in fact I think I had a pair for myself. And, she also came with a cassette tape that you could make the dolls dance to and sing along with....soo fun.

I actually loved their music and I hate that I lost those cassettes. The actual Jem doll I didn't care for, not sure why but I did like the others in the line like her sister Kimber, and Aja and Shanna. (Yes, I recall the names so I'm showing my age).

Pity those don't make a comeback or at least the show.
