These are really cool, but at that price point, I need a few more accessories other than swappable hands. Stuff like their grappling hooks, turtle comms, and maybe a goofy accessory other than pizza would really help the appeal.

Seeing these though, I REALLY want Figure Arts to take a stab at the original movie Turtles, although I have a feeling NECA will be giving us a downscaled version of their upcoming 1/4 scale figures within the next year or so as a con exclusive.

I really like Figuarts stuff, but something about the turtles just looks... off... too tall and thin, maybe? I think I'll just stick with NECA for my go-to heroes jn a half shell.

I can think of plenty of cons;
-way too expensive
-articulation takes away from the sculpt(especially in the shoulders)
-the interchangeable belt system is poorly painted, and Leos blades hang really low
-weak accessories for the price
-boring packaging
I hate to knock these figures, but I think the price just ruins them for me. All 4 would cost you $250 at cheapest. Plus, we've got so many choices for the turtles already. Playmates has done the 4 turtles to death. The only other figure is Shredder, and he has no release date set. Personally I'll wait and see what NECA releases. They released 12 TMNT figures in 2016, so odds are good that more are coming. However, I will buy any side character that SH releases; Casey Jones, Krang, Splinter, April, etc.
My advice to SH is to release Shredder ASAP! Having already released 2 different Shredders, NECA may beat them to it.

The articulation points don't bother me. I'd rather them be there and be super articulated than be more clean looking and not as articulated.

as for the price.. That's just the way it is with these types of figures. At this point that shouldn't really be a big surprise from figuarts. If playmates were charging that amount for one of their turtles, then yes, it's an issue.

The packaging? I couldn't really care less about packaging. If it's good, cool. If it's not good, oh well, I won't be displaying the packaging, I'll be displaying the figures.

I don't see a huge problem with the belts. The swords are supposed to be like this I believe..

The only real complaint I have is that I wish the green was darker. Otherwise I don't have too many complaints.

Sure, I think they should have a couple more accessories, but to be honest, that's not a huge deal to me. I think it would've made the price more acceptable to people, but oh well.

One of my favorite things about these are the hands. I'm so glad they don't have articulated fingers. Those playmates articulated fingers are a neat idea, but I'm not that big of a fan of them.

Anyways, hopefully the rest of them come out soon. I can't wait for them.

I hope shredder goes up for preorder soon. I also hope we get a proper bebop, rocksteady, and krang (with his android body). I think the playmates bebop and rocksteady can be decent placeholders, but I hope these sell well and we'll see more.

i like them, I much rather the added articulation for more accurate poses, instead of Playmates efforts...the great thing about all these TMNT action figures of 2016, is that we finally have many choices.
NECA, 3Zero, Revoltech, Shifigarts, DreamEX . Mondo etc

The price doesn't surprise me...but if we're talking "pros and cons" the price is definitely a con. The belt is the worst part of the figure for me. Why in the world did they make an interchangeable belt? The color is far off and it just makes no sense. The sword handles should be way above the shell..

They are cool figures, but 4 turtles will set you back nearly $300.

I can understand that. But I guess I'm conditioned these days to accept something I want is going to be priced high lol.

I believe they did the belts that way so that they're more accurate. I wonder if they'll take a stab at the movie turtles.

[/URL]

As with any old cartoon, things tend to change here and there.

Also, in the later seasons their belts where lighter in color.

I agree that the belts should be a bit darker as well as the green. But at this point I'm happy we're getting classic toon turtles at all.

Their look is closer to cartoon merch like t-shirts than the actual cartoon for me.

I said this before, so I agree 100%
They really don't remind me of the show as much as the t-shirts and merch.

I think TimothyR said it best. They need to have articulation! I still never get why ppl would rather have "clean lines" then mobility. Personally I never even notice a difference other then one figure can't move, one can. I'll take the one that can move around any day.

Other thing is price. It is probably that much partly because of the die cast in their legs. Which through a picture you can't really see where the extra cost goes. But in hand that die cast helps you balance the figure and keep its center of balance through practically any pose. Plus the added heft feel feels nice. HOWEVER, about the cons. Its not the accessories, because you can always add stuff to the figure in that way, but the deco SHOULD be alot darker green. It makes me hope that Tamashii Nations doesn't have a 4 pack in store for later with darker green advertised as "more cartoon accurate" or something. Would piss alot of ppl off though so im not sure shfiguarts would do that or not. They do color deco changes in their ShMonsterarts linr5

They did good figures no doubt, but I'm guessing the plastic and joints are no where near as good, judging by my (dont get me wrong, AWESOME) Alien Predator Rocky and Gremlins figures. They have that rubbery knee that Hasbro legends/Black Series has, and the quality is no where near ShFiguarts. On top of that I asked Randy if he can use die cast in his action figures, and he said no. PLUS ..

Personally, I don't play with my figures, I only display them, so a broken and insectoid sculpt does me no good. Clean lines all the way.

yea that makes sense..You'll hear no argument from me there. It's funny I don't display mine, I play with them and keep them in their packaging along with the other 100,000 figures I have. No joke

(it's partly why I can't display them. No room left lol. But I'm working on going through all my stuff as we speak *just started* so I can cleanup some space and buy + build a few display cabinets with glass doors behind sliding solid doors and locks. It's gonna be epic bc atm, the only place I have to display is my review studio/kitchen table)

*edit; but unless I sell 4/5ths of what I currently have, that display cabinet (or even 2 or 3, since I have over 100 large uhual boxes filled with Transformers & action figures) won't display much of my collection. Still looking forward to having something like when before I moved in with my gf*

While NECA does use a softer plastic I've never had any figures where I'd call the joints rubbery as where Hasbro definitely has had some very gummy joints in different figures lately (specifically knee and elbow joints on some Marvel Legends). I have to imagine NECA's decision to use this softer, more fragile plastic is ultimately a costs issue. I'd guess that if NECA used hardier plastic like Hasbro/Mattel usually does and still kept their level of sculpting then their figures would cost more and they'd lose some customers over it. Additionally it seems most of the NECA crowd, myself included, are display-only guys who find a pose and may occasionally switch it up to new poses but generally leave the figures on shelf. As a side thought I wonder if McFarlane is to blame for this behavior as his figures back in the day gave us little to no choice for display options. From what I've seen SH wants to cater to a broader range of collector types and are often willing to sacrifice some aesthetic attributes in favor of functionality.

I could see why you'd be concerned with the NECA plastic vs SH, but NECA went a much different route with the TMNT line. These are much more durable than any NECA figure I have owned(and I own a ton) Look at Shredder's blades for example. They went with a softer material as opposed to hard plastic to avoid any breakage with the blades.

As far as SH goes, let's not forget the old failed lines and ones to come. Take the Alien and Predator lines. They were terrible! My Big Chap only looks good with Walking Dead figures(5" scale)and he wasn't nearly worth the $60 I paid. For the record, he has no diecast parts. Look at what's to come..TDK trilogy figures, featuring quite possibly the worst Heath Ledger Joker ever sculpted. Let's face it, SH is hit or miss. The price is the only thing that's consistent.

Back to the turtles, the toe articulation is not needed IMO. Had they simply ditched some articulation(toes included)they wouldn't have needed to use diecast. The old NECA Mirage turtles would keep standing in an earthquake lol
SH needs to really think about how they're going to sculpt Shredder's armor. If not done right, some people are gonna be really upset if old Shred-head takes a shelf dive.

I LOVE these things. They just look gorgeous.

I think they could've done without the diecast though, but that's not a big deal.

I REALLY hope we get shredder and krang with his android body.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some movie turtles plus shredder.

Lastly, with how great these turned out, I'd die for some real ghostbusters figuarts figures and movie ghostbusters. There aren't any great ghostbusters figures in this scale. I'm not a fan of how the mezco ghostbusters look, so, I'd kill for figuarts versions.

The arms look longer than the legs in some shots, and I'm just not a fan of the goofy faces.

Other than that, they actually are great figures. Just not hitting my specific buttons.

These tickle that button some kinds of fierce. Just wish they weren't so expensive...

Shredder should be next since we saw his prototype.
I hope there's a Splinter, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, April and maybe Casey Jones and Baxter Stockman. Also I really want them to do another version of the turtles like the 90s movie, 03 cartoon, one of the comics, or even the new cartoon. As much as I love the 80s cartoon, I really don't want these to be the only version that's get the SH treatment and if they can make 10 different Goku figures then another version of the turtles shouldn't be out of the question.
