3. They will move forward with the MOTUC saying that they were satisfied with the response and even though they didnt hit "the goal" will move forward However, this will cause a future backlash because "hey, if lots of people are going to buy the sub but not enough to hit the goal AND Mattel is still going to go through with it regardless, then I don't need to sweat it and can just cherry pick what I want"
You presume the goal wasn't reached.

I suspect MotUC will be at least at 100 percent if not a bit over.

However, ToyGuru already explained that if the subs don't hit their minimums, the items already-revealed would still be offered as quarterly (non-sub) offerings, so no further explanation would be necessary.

Fans can care as much as humanly possible, doesn't matter if there aren't enough of them to keep a line afloat.

According to Bad Moon in the MOTUC thread here, CE got the green-light at 115% of its stated goal.

EDIT: And CIE seems to have failed at 62%. Couldn't even find any listing for where the Ecto-1 sub ended up. I would assume it didn't get much higher than the last reported amount of 32%. It's not even sold out on Matty's website like the other two. It just says "No longer available".

I'd love to get confirmation on those numbers from Mattel.

Same here. I don't know if this will count, but here's the links to the CE and CIE sub pages showing the goals:

Club Eternia
Club Infinte Earths

And as far as I'm aware, there has not been a formal statement from Mattel saying anything about the current status of any of the subs (as of this post).

Official news:

Club Infinite Earths & Ecto-1 cancelled. DC Classics figs may still be released but at a higher price point. Club Eternia subs will re-open soon for a limited time.

I just want Ice. Release her and I'm good.

Too bad about Ecto-1, though. Really wanted that thing, even at that price.

Haha I was just going to post that I just want Doomsday. Please give me Doomsday and Ludovicotek Ice and we'll call it a day Mattel!

Hopefully both of those will still come out somehow.

They are going with the logic that since people aren't paying for the DC sub they will have some extra cash to spend and hopefully they are MOTU fans.

Yes!!!!!

The line is dead!!!!

No sympathy from me!!!!

If this company really cared they would have made this happened. Look at Hasbro and the Marvel Legends, they are going to continue on even though they won't be officially branded Marvel Legends as well as the 3.75 line.
All they really cared about was that dollar and how much they could squeeze out of a fan without putting any effort on getting their product out there. Here's hoping one day that Bandai Japan gets the license and makes some D-arts or Figuarts of the DC Universe.

I will not buy anything Marvel Legends. Hasbro and DC Collectables and all you who talked lies about Mattel and still bought and will buy can go to a rather hot firey place.

I hope Mattel keeps the License Screw everyone who wants these because you cannot make the slightest effort. Am I angry? Yes I put my faith in mattel all that asked was a little faith and many of you couldn't do that and I don't see why that was so hard.

Apparently people here don't care about collecting figures they just want crap

I'm with ya CM -- after all I've said over the last few days about not being able to afford it (and I can't). . .I subbed to CIE this morning anyways. At least to help the rest of you out, to help try to meet the quota.

Well they are doing Figuarts, but they are being based off Injustice for now.

Sadly, it doesn't matter, no one will ever bring out the range of characters Mattel did. Mattel set the sub up for failure because it is clear they wanted it to be done. However, in the end, Mattel still gave us more characters, more versions of characters, than any other company has and will ever do so.

It doesn't matter who gets the license, they will focus on the core League, Batman, and the highly known villains. We will never see characters like Shade and Vandal done. We also will never see the likes of the Metal Men, Doom Patrol, Killer Moth, and Golden Age versions again.

If we wanted to give them extra money for extra disappointment, we would have. Or to put it simply...

well I am not disappointed in Mattel you want to know who I am disappointed in the people who falsely gave Mattel hope. Now I want to see Marvel Legends fail more then anything I refuse to buy them period. Before you ask why because I want to see the rest of you suffer like this as well. Maybe you don't Care about DC and Mattel but many of us do.

I didn't help selling them $20 the people who wanted in the Club will still buy them because we actually were willing to buy them. By the Way Cherry Picker Haha you get NOTHING you also lose thats for being so noncommital

Don't know who among us (the buying community) gave them (Mattel) hope. The club was their idea; they hoped it would work. IIRC, it squeaked by on the last day last year. And this year they raise the prices again.

I can think of a few hundred people to blame (most of them working or formerly working in Wash DC -- note not taking sides or pointing a specific finger) for making a crummy economy where a lot of folks don't have disposable income. But the blame is not on (most of) us.

There's lots of things I'd like to buy. . .I'd like a new car; I've had one for 8 years and it's broken/undriveable right now and my other one I've had for 14 years. I don't have the money for it. Bigger house. Dinner out. Fix my leaky roof. I could go on. Life will go on without toys. And my life will probably be better, now that I won't get "the eye" from my wife for subscribing!

well I am pointing fingers at the Collectors who have the ability to buy and the funds but wont because they do not know what they are getting. You know quite simply Mattel wanted to put these figures out, but the collectors didn't want them so its the collectors who are to blame and nobody else Collectors.

Well for what its worth say goodbye to an oversized Doomsday because without this sub he will never happen at least not from a company worth buying from.

If you want to know why I am so angry. I subscribed as did many others and now because other people wouldn't I am forced to lose something I wanted you stole from me by not stepping up. It would be like if I took something from you and you could do nothing about it, this is theft by doing nothing.
