Hi everyone, I found this Plastic Thai Hanuman toy in a toy shop in the outskirts of Bangkok and I immediately got it I have seen these kinds of plastic toys before in this format but I don't remember any information about them. There is no marking on him. The shop owner told me it is very old.

Anyone have any information on these types of toys?

Possible cash-in toy from several late 70s kaiju movies featuring Hanuman? The 6 Ultra Brothers vs. the Monster Army or Hanuman and the Five Riders?

Thank you for your response!! Sorry but what is a cash-in toy? I was also thinking if it could also be from the Ultraman series of figures. I do have one from Apex Toys.

Well that other one you have looks pretty accurate to how he was seen in the 6 Ultra Brothers film and looks to be in the style of Bullmark figures with several points of articulation, looks like shoulders and waist. For all I know, it could be Bullmark. I believe the 6 Ultra Brothers film is considered an official Ultraman movie.

By cash in I mean it is cashing in on the success of those films (possibly). It doesn't really look like how he was portrayed in either of the films I mentioned, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were more films I'm just not aware of. Considering he's a mythological character, it would be hard for me to straight up call him a bootleg or whatnot simply because of his presence in Thai culture. This is all just a guess, though. While I don't believe the films I mentioned are really well-known, I imagine they did pretty well in Thailand at the time.

The second figure is confirmed to be from Apex Toys which is a toy company in Thailand so I am guessing that from like what you said, the other Hanuman toy is probably a cash-in one as well.

That's possible. I imagine it is hard to copyright the specific likeness of a cultural character such as Hanuman, and also in Asian countries in general, copyright law seems to be freely skirted with no repercussions. But it is quite possible it's a licensed product. Information on SE Asian toys or Asian toys in general isn't particularly well documented.
