Also, wearing "rose-colored glasses" means having an overly-optimistic view of something or someone. It's a reference to a particular style of eyewear from the 60's that's usually associated with hippies.

So Kilic is obviously not wearing any, since he is upset about a children's building-block set based on a 30-year-old science-fiction film. If he were wearing any, he might have said that the set is a wonderful representation of the architecture and design of the building and downplayed any negative aspects.
You mean about the multiple posts? Yeah, sorry. I did merge 2 of them though, hence the "mistake post".
And I used the glasses thing more to mean overly peaceful view, since hippies were radical on the peace thing. Maybe I used it in the wrong way, I don't know.

Not sure if that's still true but I do recall seeing that article years ago.
Oh that is more stupid than this post, I mean website, could contain! I always knew most Swedish people were "politically correct" (and sometimes dumb radicals), but I never though they would do that! So did they ban the movies, or even all war related movies?

Well that's good to read, I know I saw the article years ago & that might have been when the 1st set of Star Wars films came along - talking late 70's, early 80's.

id imagine that it would have been around the 70,s & 80's.but things have quietened down since then however the swedish government does have a problem with its muslim community.in recent years Malmo had seen the muslim community riot because of the swedish governments refusal to build another mosque in an area that already houses 2 mosques.plus the muslim community are very xenophobic towards the locals,i have seen this first hand.

The only reason I mentioned it was because you asked him to take them off, implying that he was wearing rose-colored glasses. But his viewpoint is not optimistic (other than assuming that Lego was removing the toy at his behest, maybe).

That's interesting, thanks for the feedback. Is boxing still banned there? I think I heard they planned to or already had allowed some form of it to be staged there again.

No boxing is practised as openly as any martial arts in sweden, well at least on a club level in the south of sweden.not sure if it was dropped from the olympic list though,if so they most likely felt it was better to focus on sports that they are good at.

I got ya - reason I asked is a boxer who lives in Las Vegas (Badou Jack) has a Swedish mother & wondered if he could even fight there.

down in the south of Sweden in the region of Skåne,boxing is more popular maybe because of the danish link.that region once belonged to the danes before the swedes took it back, but copenhagen is literally a 5 minute train ride from Malmo, and boxing is big in denmark.the northerners prefer all that strongman stuff

I didn't mean it as an insult to Swedish people, they're fine. After all, I like Ikea. Just they have done some dumb things with their bans and laws, like that. But most countries do dumb things anyway.

I'm assuming it was due to the language, which I can understand. The video itself couldn't offend anyone, could it?

Tell me about it. Every day that I'm on the web it reminds me that there are so many dumb people. Sometimes I feel like the only intelligent person left.

By the way, the local Walmart had the Jabba set, 2 or 3 I think. It was on sale, but in classic Walmart (and lego) style it was way less than $10 off.

People who are offended because the design of a building that is "sacred" when it is even accidentally referenced need an inexorably immediate priority shift. There's a lot of injustice going on in this world, and a lot of suffering. Things worth taking a up a cause for or a stand against, and a toy company is so far removed from anything close to all of them that it's almost comical. Let's face it, architecture is only going so far and unless we get all sci-fi with it, our building aesthetics are going to eventually all harken back to something.

It boggles the mind, the sheer number of fights these people seek out. What good has it ever brought this world?

Very true. It never brought good for anyone, including those who start it. They get all caught up in the "moment" and they stop thinking rationally. It can happen to anyone, and does all the time.

Bullshit I fear this will happen piece by piece until were all in robes and praying on our knees. If you go to Paris or England you will see the attempt at conformity happening already.

LOL, yeah some good fighters in Denmark - Mikkel Kessler is a current champ & Thomas Damgaard wasn't too bad recently either.
