They do pay you. Then he takes your shit to a con and an actor buys it at the item's highest value ever.

Yeah why would I want to sell him the best items from my collection for half of what they are worth/ going for on the open market. At the prices he pays for things, there isn't a collector out there that would not pay that price. I am constantly amazed at what he finds and the price he pays for it.

The open casting call to me means they are running out of content for the show. I think I'd rather watch Collection Intervention. Watching Jordan pay crap $ for vintage MOC toys I've never seen just angers me.

Yeah, at least that intervention show appears to be a little less fabricated than this hoax. Even tho I can't stand that chick and her telling people what's important to their collection and what isn't. I agree every collection has some clutter and bs. But if someone bothered to collect it, wtf are you to tell them it doesn't belong?

Pity I don't live in the states. I wouldn't mind a BS reality show giving my collection a free apprasal, then tell them to piss off at whatever low ball offer they give

Agreed. I hate this show, and Collector Intervention isn't much better, if only because the woman doesn't know nearly as much as she thinks.
Remember a transformer collector they had on, and she proved to me she doesn't know shit. Telling him nothing beyond G1 is worth anything when the reality is G1 isn't worth nearly what it used to be while there are quite a few G2, Beast Era, UT, and Classics that are worth a small mint more than most G1. And convencing him to sell his G2 Breakdown that anyone with half a heart could tell was his most important piece on a personal level.
All of the collectors they had on that show... not a single one of them were in it for the value of their collection (Which is proven when they show it matters more to them their beloved toy goes to someone who'll love it as much as they had, over how much they make from it). Only to be told by her time and again that that's the only important part of collecting, then forcing them to sell off the expensive pieces, instead of selling off the fringe stuff that really doesn't have sentimental value. Basically, the kind of stuff that hoarders genuinely need help controlling their impulses with.

As for Toy Hunters, I really can't say anything that hasn't been said. The show is a joke.
But, if they switched the formula into sort of a "travelling" antiques roadshow format (An appraiser comes to the collector, instead of the collector taking a prized piece to them) I think would be a hit. That's a show I'd watch.

Toy Hunters and Collectors Intervention really are no more than an insult to the collecting community. Only non collectors really watch, and they completely give the wrong ideas to them about what our hobby really means to us.

The fact that they're using a gmail account and not a company address sketches me out. I'd avoid this one.
