Man, I loved Patlabor way back when. I haven't seen any of the more recent iterations, though. Most shows I want toys of the machinery and don't give a rip about the squishy organics, not so with Patlabor.

The toy was on the roof of the car, I was in my driveway, the night swallows up the dark paint perfectly. Used my wallet to steady the camera because photography without a tripod is my idea of challenge mode.

Since there was a question of displays... this is my “man cave”... separated into masterpiece transformers, misc 7” scale figures, and legends transformers... with my paintings as wall deco. All my loves squished into 80 sq feet.

Acrylics. Yup. A hobby of mine that’s SLIGHTLY cheaper than toy collecting. 😉

Extremely jealous in the space you have between toys on your detolfs. I'm at 12 now and some look a mess in comparison. Need to start letting go of some things

I want a few..but first i need some shelving so i can display a LOT of figs..then i'll get to the 'elegant' displays...heh
..and thanks for sharing the pics of your collection.

The space between characters is known as the “wife pleasing space” ... prevents papers being served.

Oh, you can stuff these, I’ve seen them stuffed to the gills with the glass shelves replaced by wood shelves and stuffed with GI joes... but I agree, they look best with light filtering through them. I plan to get LED display lights at some time to bring out the figures, but so far I’ve been too busy buying toys to buy lights. Lol

Ah. I read it as a dare. Lol

Yeah, I agree, detolfs need light to filter. I think packing ANY shelf looks bad. I see the displays where all the toys are packed like sardines, stacked on each other, and floor to wall... and I personally cringe. I think my detolfs need better spacing, but I need to get some risers.

Bro, it was hard to not give this one a squee taking it out of the box. It was one to where the second hand prices have gotten so stupid and the listings are drying up so I didn't think I'd own one. It's a great time right now collecting wise.

-----------

Ref shelves; TBH I don't think shelves more full look bad at all of organized or themed but for me it depends on the products, colors, etc... for example I think Transformers actually look best en masse while larger Super Robots are better with some space dependant on size. If anyone wants I'll certainly take a full on room pic later grabted I can clean it up but saw this thread earlier and took a few shelf pics showing different arrangements for the sake of examples because I like them all just as much in terms of display.

Everyone's different though and as long as you're buying what you like and displaying how you want yours is perfect.

Niiiice collection! Totally agree on the shelves. I cringe at crowded shelves, but that’s my personal ocd issues, but I don’t harass those with “messy” shelves. I absolutely love a certain reviewer’s reviews. Love the man (purely platonic, dear wife, if you are reading!) but I can’t watch his unboxing videos, coz his shelves are in the background and looking at the clutter for more than a minute has me breaking out in a nervous tick. I’m the kind of person who spends 5 to 10 minutes making sure the food on my plate doesn’t touch, and eat my food in sequence (first meat, then potatoes, then veggies, then drink, for example)... Lol

But it’s his collection, and he’s doing an incredibly generous offering of his time to open that part of his life with total strangers, so I won’t ever give him crap about it.

I think you're intertwining the definitions of crowded and messy... I think that just because a shelf has more than 2 or 3 figures on it doesn't keep it from being displayed in an organized fashion. But yea, to each their own and if whoever is referred to in this quote is happy then good on them.
