Anybody here ever try Adobe Paintcan? It's available on iOS devices. Let's you manually paint over your pics, with a lot of control on what the final image looks like. Here's a few I did with some of my pics.

Thanks. It's a lot of fun to mess with. Different brushes, textures, styles to choose from.

Cool. Quick tip, if you zoom out the paint brush strokes will be very abstract, if you zoom in, the painting gets more refined and detailed.

Curse you! As if Prisma wasn't sucking up enough of my time!

Speaking of which, there's only another day or two left in NECA's contest; post your photo(s) of NECA figures with Prisma edits and use the hashtag #necaprisma. (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram).

Meanwhile, Lunapic has a paint feature, too. It's not a brush, just a one-click thing, so you can't adjust or control it. It's usually a bit much, but sometimes I dig it.

Dang, I feel like I need a tutorial for Paintcan. It's very neat, but the brushes are quite sensitive!

For solid details, I zoom in and use either the "Face" or the "Natural" brushes. Then I slowly zoom out and mix and match a few of the others, then go in with Manual brushes to get some personal touches with it.

Thanks! Are you using an iPad? I watched a tutorial within the app, but it applies to iPad, which apparently has different brushes than a phone.

Yeah, using an iPad for it. Wanted it on my phone, but I have an Android phone, and it's not out yet for anything else.

In the meantime, here are my initial efforts, which are pretty fumbling and awkward compared to yours:

Trouble With the Damned is, They Never Stay Put—Adobe Paintcan by Monte Williams, on Flickr

I used some tools on the PicMonkey site to try to make the Lone Ranger portrait look a bit better.

Meanwhile, Flickr's spooky auto tagging software immediately labelled these "PaintCan", "PaintCan App" and "Adobe". Eerie stuff to this old Luddite.
