Hey guys. As I've stated a fair few times on here I'm from the UK... but soon I'll be visiting the US for the first time ever as I'll be going to Phoenix Comic Con! YEAAAAAH. Now... I'm going to be having a direct 10 hour flight from Heathrow Airport all the way to Phoenix, and as I'm quite tall I'm very likely to not be comfortable on the flight and will need something to take my mind off of it.
Now obviously the trip is expensive and there will be limited entertainment etc and there's only a limit to the stuff I can buy etc, so cutting to the chase, I'm in the market for some absolutely mindblowing graphic novels, gripping stories, great artwork etc and I wanted to get some opinions from people who's opinions on this stuff I respect. (As we all think alike) So yeah, I'm a Marvel Guy so I'm looking for Marvel novels, not that many obviously and the cheaper the better incase I lose them or whatever, but I want something to get my brain into for the entire flight! I appreciate your help etc. I've recently seen Avengers twice so I'm kinda into their story, I've been following bits and pieces since Civil War and it seems to be a great period to delve into! Thanks ![]() Edit: Also is anyone going to Phoenix Comic Con? I'm going with my friend whose been invited to their film festival and I will be on the Panel with him as I helped him make it, would be good to have a chat with someone whose into collecting and Marvel etc as most people are like... "I don't understand why you collect toys".

Iron Man: Haunted (the best Iron Man run ever- and I own 30 years of IM comics!)
Daredevil" Born Again (one of the best runs in comics' history!) Annihilation (there's four trades to make the whole thing, I believe. Best crossover ever!) Spider Man: The Grim Hunt (A super dark Spidey story- as Peter nearly goes over the line!) Secret Warriors: Omnibus- collecting every damn issue, special and crossover appearance of the best damn team/spy/Nick Fury comic ever! EVER! Ten hous of enjoiment by itself! You'll demand figures from this! Ailen Legion: Omnibus 2 (collects the incredible second series- you dont need to read the first to get it, really). The Thanos Imperative Starman Omnibus 1 (that'll get you going on an incredible self-contained series.) Star Wars: Dark Times trades 1-4 (makes up the first story arc- set three weeks after the end of Ep III) Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic trades 1-6 (makes up the first story arc- set 3000 years before the SW movies, it has all original characters and is the best SW anything. Period.). If yo ever make it to Florida, I'll buy you a beer! I've never been out to where you're going, but that show looks awesome! Take pics for us! |

Im really enjoying the "Age of X" collected edition right now,in a (possibly) alternate universe where mutants are hunted down and killed or imprisoned its the X-men(but not the version you know) versus EVERYONE!!! But a dark secret also threatens everything the X-men are fighting for...DUNDUNDUUUUUUN!(Though if you do get it buy the slightly more expensive yellow covered one,it has a bit more extra content, you get to see the "Age of X" Avengers and Spidey, and theres some cool character design sketch pages too too!!!) Coolest moment for me is Magneto ripping up half of Manhattan's Skyscrapers and using them to build the Fortress, mutantkinds last bastion, and the location for the last stand!!

I had a flight to and from Japan, they only had spiderman 3, shrek 3 once, and The Mask. So I recommend seeing if you can watch the mask 14 times in a row.
If that doesn't work, try transmetropolitan, it's a political comic, but it's one of the best of it's time. It's damned long and about 13 paper backs, I read it straight and finished it in a day. A full 24 hours mind you. |

Seriously though, pick up a few Preacher TPBs, or all 9 if you can because it's an amazing story, and it's written by Garth Ennis.

batman stand alone graphic novels are good. I kinda like the joeb/sale trilogy(haunted night/dark victory/long halloween). But the problem with graphic novels vs. books is that you can pour through one in like 30-45 mins if you have a good attention.
but if your a sci fi geek, bring some star wars novels. theyre easier to pack anyways. |
