I don't want to say Jackpot! or anything , but I hit a super deal this weekend at Vintage Stock with their Easter sale (33% off all marked price on used toys).
Giganta for 10$, Grundy, Grodd, Kalibak, and Marvel Select Emma Frost for 15$ each plus discount. And an assortment of others reallly cheep. Someone did not know what these were. Just another figure to them I guess. Selling these will help fund a good amount that is coming out soon. ![]()

I don't actually have one myself, but I will probably pick him up, purely for the fact that he's a unique looking Batman haha

If DCC does make one apparently it'll cost at least twice as much. Before now they've never done any mainstream movie figures and now that they are they're charging close to import prices for said figures.

i think the upcoming DC movie figures look great.. i'm still going with mafex for at least the regular and armored batman figures. but i'm really interested to see what that lane has in store for the future. i'd love to see them stretch it across several movies, maybe finally give us a burton era batmobile.. i mean, the possibilities are endless. it's about time a north american company has produced something on par with what japan has been doing for a long time now. i initially wanted the mattel figures, but after seeing them in person, and comparing them to the other options out there.. i just can't bring myself to get any of them. they're definitely more children toy than collectible (to my eyes anyways).. and i think the sculpts, paint, articulation, and price are an indication of that. i'm not saying that they're terrible figures, i'm just saying that they're not for me. they're not something that, in 5 years i'm going to look back and think "man, i'm glad i grabbed those". even the dark knight movie masters don't really hold up anymore. the only movie masters figure that i look back and wish i had gotten was the fear toxin batman.. but i never actually saw one in stores. and i have no interest in buying one now. i wish the hot toys version was more accurate to the way he looked in the movie. |

At Toy Fair they showed off their movie figures at a 40+ price point, if I had to guess I'd say they're paying for likenesses...

He means the upcoming 6 inch scale figures that are based on Man of Steel, BvS and Suicide Squad. They are going to be more premium figures with articulation and detail on par with some import figures. Most of them look pretty good but there are a few duds. They should cost somewhere around $40 -$50.

The line is called DC Films,I bet there's a Knightmare coming at some point, just look at the MoS figs,I think they said they were only going back as far as MoS though, but who knows,we may get figs from older films down the road.

I got signed up for a Firefly/Serenity Loot Crate as a gift a while back. I generally don't buy blind bag type stuff and even though I like Firefly a lot I wasn't very excited about this.
First of all, I thought all these things came with a T-Shirt but I guess that was wrong. This Crate is Kaylee themed and most of the things in here are just paper. There's some flyer ads, 2 playing cards, 2 postcards, a sticker, a pin, a tiny little Simon Tam Pop!, a stuffed teddy bear, some cocktail umbrellas and a small PVC figurine. None of these are things I would have bought for myself except for the paper umbrellas. I was actually planning on buying some to use with my Funko Legacy Kaylee figure anyway, and these are actually accurate to what she had in the show. Even though it's not my cup of tea, the PVC figurine is actually pretty nice and the paint and sculpting are both excellent. It surprisingly has a fair likeness to the actress despite it's cartoony vibe. Everything else is junk that I won't use. I'm going to try to ebay the Pop! and probably give away whatever I can to friends. I don't know how much these cost but judging from reviews I've seen and from my experience, these Loot Crate things are pretty lame. Also, I picked up the Knightmare Batman on my way home from work this morning. His articulation is pretty weak, but I think he looks fine and he's just going to end up standing on a shelf with a bunch of other figures so it doesn't bother me too much. Plus, I basically got 3 figures from the first wave for the price of one after I sold the Grapnel Gun parts on ebay so I'm hoping I can do the same thing this time and get some of my money back. Ive' never ordered a Loot Crate, but a LOT of my friends have been disappointed by what they've received in the Loot Crates they've ordered. Quantum Mechanix's involvement piqued my interest, but not nearly enough to actually order. They've released some great Firefly merch, but overall, their offerings are definitely hit-or-miss, so I didn't feel like rolling the dice on this box.

judging by the pics released from toyfair or whichever convention it was, the only ones being released were the armored batman, superman, and i recall seeing some suicide squad movie figures. that's about it.

Can't you buy old crates from previous months on their website? That might be the way to go instead of buying a subscription so you get stuff you actually want. |

I was worried about the quality of stuff because I bought a prop replica of Mal's pistol for my dad a few years ago and the quality was really poor. The stuff in this crate seems like it's decent enough quality though, it's just that there isn't much here that interests me. My fiance was also under the impression that it was supposed to come with a t-shirt, so she's not real happy either.
The pistol was on my shopping list as well, for a while, but a buddy of mine bought one and we were both underwhelmed by it. However, I have QMX's Big Damn Heroes statue of River Tam, and it's pretty cool. The likeness is far from accurate, but like many of their statues and figures, they were going for a stylized look, so the likeness is forgivable, especially since I got it for a great price on Cyber Monday a few years ago. I have, however, heard great things about QMX's 1:6 scale figure of Mal. I had planned to spend some of my tax return on him, or buy him as a birthday gift for myself, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Typically, I can't bring myself to pay for high-end figures, like Hot Toys' stuff, but I love Firefly SOOOO much, and this figure is priced fairly reasonably for a figure of its type, so I'm sure I would eventually be angry at myself if I pass on it. I know that that is how Funko does it for their various Pop boxes, and I seem to remember Loot Crate having the same approach.
