I'm guessing that the entire 3.75" Marvel Series isn't going to be worth d*ck 4-5 years after Hasbro stops producing them. Look at the 90's X-Men figures. Anyone in the market for a Professor X or Beast MOC of those? They were awesome at the time, and everyone loved them while that was going on, but now we have something different, and some would argue better. The same thing is going to happen with these current lines. So if you really want to get the value out of your rare figures, either play with them like you want to, or sell them while the getting's good.
It's a bit of a harsh reality, but I believe it to be absolute truth. Just imagine what the figures will be like in 10 years. No one is going to want these older, then 'crappier' versions when they can have the newest. Last edited by Exodus; 12-21-2011 at 10:25 AM.. |

in box g1 transformers still go for crazy stupid money. and marvel legends MOC go for decent money also. But for MU, theres gonna easily be 15 figs at are going to stay over 50 dollars in value no matter what due to rarity right now and collector demand.

Picked up TF Prime Bumblebee and DOTM Jolt (it was the only other thing that I even kinda wanted left on the pegs) thanks to their BOGO Free sale. Also from there I picked up PCC Undertow w/Waterlog. Shame that line ended just as it was getting good.
Also got Cyberverse Dark Sentinel Prime from Meijer for $6. Nice redeco, but I only got it because it was cheap and I like that mold. Can't beat articulation + integrated weapons storage. Quote:
Agree on that part!!! But than again you never know...the very first G1 Trans, don't they go for high price if they're still in the box unopened? Although how much do Marvel Legends go for now a days since the MU line came out...those may have dropped in price I'm betting...
Also there weren't as many collectors back then and kids usually open any toys they get, so in-package G1 toys are even rarer than their loose counterparts. But now there's a large collector's market and aftermarket sales are much more widespread. Because of the abundance of most mass-marketed modern toys, their value over time will diminish as anyone who wants them will eventually get them. Thus, the remaining stock becomes cheaper as demand decreases.

I got this short-tempered dick (walrus man, not the wise one) at K-Mart for $4.59 today. No sale, but it was not in their system so the girl asks me how much it is, I answer $9 and change, and I guess she didn't feel like doing the work so she just scanned te dog treats I had a second time and toss Ponda in my bag. Then she banged me (jk about that part).

So its been a pretty lucrative few weeks for me (thank the toy gods!) so I apologize but this post is gonna be a little "pic-heavy".
![]() So first up is my "Joe" haul, of which I am very happy to have found all these awesome guys. And I'm especially proud of the "Joe"-rassic Park guy and Storm Shadow who IMO is the best representation of a ninja in the 3 3/4" scale EVER (unless they make another just like him with "thigh swivels") lol ![]() And next up is the Microman batman and custom Mr. Freeze I picked up from Ebay, Mr. Freeze is truly an awesome custom and in hand looks like he came right off the store shelf. ![]() ![]() ![]() Bowser from the recent 5(?) inch Mario line that I picked up at Ross, paint job is pretty sketchy but idk they made a Bowser in this scale, so why the hell not? ![]() A full set of these awesome little poseable DOA women (3 3/4" scale) that I also snagged from ebay for $34(!) ![]() ![]() ![]() Marvel Select Hawkeye from Disney.com's online store, Badass figure, amazing base, cheap price (with special code) not much more to say than BOOYAH. ;D ![]() Brute Cheiftan from Hastings, quite possibly my new favorite Halo figure to date. He is absolutely MASSIVE once you get him out of the package. Tons of joints and great range of movement, none of his joints are loose either so that surprised me as well. Pick this bad boy up if you get the chance, you will not regret it. ![]() ![]() And last but not least, these awesome ML Thor figures from LORDMARVEL that I have so much fun play...um..I mean POSING with. ;D ![]()

The movie hype hadn't taken over yet BUT, the collecting community had more buying power. Values were much better then in my opinion. Plus now you have the phenomenon of adult collectors, so there will be a much higher ratio of MOC/MOSC figures to buy. In the "80s we just tore open our figures and bashed them around. Unless you were poor like me then you savored them, carefully opened the package and saved everything, all papaers, decal sheets, etc. Never played rough with them, posed them a bit then back in the box. See in the '70s and '80s the majority of toy owners were, well us when we were kids. Now there is such a huge industry of action figures/toys geared towards adults that there is a lot more pristine figure collecting going on. Which actually lowers value because there is a lot more inventory for the serious collector to choose from. I kind of did it backwards, as a kid I treated my figures with the utmost care. Now that I'm all grown up the packaging barely makes it out of the parking lot in one piece! |

When I sold off my G1 collection in 2002-3ish I made like $6000.
