Vintage Stock is a chain in the KC to Tulsa area of the midwest. They take toys, comics, movie, ect... in trade for credit or cash. I found this on the shelf and about crapped myself. The guy who rung me up said someone traded it and about 10 other MU figures (all regular not rare in any way) in to the store a couple hours before I got there. The cashier was the same one who took them in for trade and had no idea about what he had, he thought it was just another Dr.Doom figure. I did not have the heart to tell him what the figure really was because he might have felt stupid. But I have often benefited from these kind of things as I buy a lot of second hand things from this chain.
wow! that is one of the greatest screw ups by a store. super win for you. congrats...

@ Phantomcrow - That has got to go down in history as one of the greatest finds ever! You lucky sob. Whoever traded that in must not have known what they had, which raises the question of how they came across this figure in the first place. Either way, great for you man!

I have to assume whoever traded it in needed cash badly. I have seen it before at this chain, people bring in stuff and take whatever cash they can get for the stuff no matter how little it might be. Used to see the same at Gamestop when I used to work there. When people want CASH , they will take what ever they can get. Since this was a con exclusive I am guessing he was desperate for cash and could not wait for an auction or something. Chalk it up as one of those great toy mysteries that ended in kudoos for me :-)

It is a snap on piece, it goes over the top of the hand but there is nothing on the underhand side. I never got Adam Warlock because I had the single card Thanos, but it looks like the same piece except Doom's is gold painted, not the comic orange that Warlock had.

@ Phantomcrow...

First off, congrats! I don't collect Marvel so I didn't know what all the hub-ub was about this particular pick-up until I consulted Google. No matter, despite my lack of interest in the line, I can still appreciate a serendipitous find such as this. I surmise the lack of anything signifying it as a SDCC exclusive figure boded quite well for you in this instance. I wonder if it were marked as say, GI Joe con exclusives are with that metallic sticker and the proverbial cat were out of the bag this was a special item, if the store's selling price in turn would have reflected that?

If he had been a douche and said "man this figure is worth 10-20x what your selling it for" the shop owner would of either been super pissed, or taken the figure and marked it up. It's the same with anything... Ebay, fleamarket, garage sale, buy sell and trade, even on here, you can find deals, not everybody knows what they have or knows what it's worth unless you actually bought it yourself or brought it to their attention. And even then some collectors could care less if they get full market value as long as they get their investment back or partially. ps epic find, the internet is yours today!

Hey PhantomCrow, I've got like $10 to spare if you want to sell ol' Vic. Anyway, nice find, I've had a bit of luck at those stores too.

Man that doom subscription is a highway robbery deal.

This packaging is a bit excessive. Heroclix antman.

Had to get this guy. Marvel legends juggs.

Well after a long battle with FedEx to get my package that was delivered to the wrong address....IT FINALLY CAME!

Couldn't sleep after fighting with FedEx for a week so I figured I'd find some room in the display for him

...I shoulda taken some bot-mode pics, this sucker is HUGE, but I was too anxious to get him into my display.

Awesome display. I love the idea of putting Fort Max and Metroplex together as Minibot City.

Is that the Takara/Tomy reissue Fort Max or one of the Japanese/Korean releases? I've got the TT one on preorder with BBTS, but it's not due to come in until mid-April.

That is awesome Fort Max. I almost pre ordered him as well, but decided against it cause it's Takara. I need to stick with my guns and get only Hasbro. If I ever cross the line into Takara, I may have to get a second job:P Although I will be getting the Hasbro Metroplex when it comes out.

Thanks man! I got the idea from an article I was reading some time back. It said though a total coincidence of engineering Metroplex was able to fit perfectly between Max's arms in city mode. It took a little while to figure out, but I think I got it.

Fort Max is vintage, I'm assuming U.S. version since I got it from a seller in Illinois who claimed to have picked it up at a yard sale. And Brave Max is the Korean version, I just got lucky that his Autobot symbol wasn't applied up side down.

The Takara version is quite a steel at $350-ish considering what the vintage U.S. version goes for...not that I'm trying to be a bad influence or anything.

Haha I know, I'll stick with Metroplex though, he's more G1 if I remember correctly...although I know that figure is based off of the FOC game.
