I hope that I don't kill the warm fuzzies of nostalgia, but I thought I'd share my latest pick, as well as a message of love and concern to all of my friends here on the Ark. On Tuesday afternoon, I ended up getting one of these. I woke up in the early morning hours, with a absolutely crushing pain in my chest, and thankfully, made the decision to go to the ER, something that I almost never do, as I tend to be a bit stubborn. Thankfully, it was one that saved my life, as little did I know, I was having a massive heart attack that was taking place in my left artery, an attack that doctors commonly refer to as "the widowmaker" due to it's incredibly silent and lethal tendency to kill it's victim, often without a warning, as it is nearly impossible to spot on an EKG. It absolutely caught me by surprise, as I have never had an issue with cholesterol, am fairly fit, am not overweight, and only just recently turned 36 years old not more than two weeks ago. After what I was told was a precautionary trip to the hospital cath lab, imagine my surprise when the cardiologist told me that I had a complete and total blockage in the artery, and not because I eat garbage like many of us do, but mostly through bad genetics, a diabetic condition that I did not even realize that I had, and a "it can't happen to me," type attitude.
![]() I'm here today only because despite my stubbornness, I wasn't too stubborn to get out of bed and get it checked out. I urge all of you, it doesn't matter how old or young you are, do not ever question or gamble with your health. If you suffer from chest pain, don't be too ashamed to admit that you might be sick, too stubborn to admit that something could be taking place, and if you have a family or people you care about, too selfish to get it looked at. I'm truly lucky and blessed that I am here today, freshly discharged at home, spreading this message to you all. I have gotten the opportunity to converse and debate with some of you, and gotten to know many of you on a more personal level, and I would not wish what happened to me on anyone else, as it was truly one of the most painful and terrifying experiences of my life. I wish all of you the best of health and life, because it's the experiences here, at the retailers, toy shows and comic-cons with others like you that make this hobby just so much damn fun. Sorry for using this podium as a soapbox to preach heart health, but it was a message that was deeply important to me, and I wanted to share with all of you. That's not to say that despite my dire condition, I didn't get a couple of nice pick-ups from friends and family sending me well wishes. On the contrary, they knew that flowers was the last thing I wanted...(Not pictured are the two X-wing fighters that I also received, one from the Hot Wheels line, and one from the Titanium line) ![]() That said, the Grim Reaper can suck it. Can't wait until I'm back on my feet again to do some proper hunting. Take care guys...and if you got this far...thanks. Now back to the awesome hauls. Godspeed. |

Damn man glad to hear you're okay. I lost my uncle not too long ago to a heart attack. That was a rough one because he was awesome. What really bums me out was the day it happened I got a bunch of 90s Ghost Rider comics in the mail I ordered off of eBay and I was so excited to show him the next time I saw him. Never got the chance though. On a somewhat happier note I found out a few months ago that he left me all his comics. Two really big boxes full of Marvel, a few DC, and Conan comics. Plus a ton of Conan paperback novels in this really nice wooden box he built that unfortunately I'll probably never get around to reading. There's just too damn many of them. He was a huge Conan the Barbarian fan.

The yellow was his underwater suit and gold was just because why not. White was his winter suit and the silver one was anti electric shock or something like that

Wow those bring back some memories. I had so many different Batmen I think each day I used a different toy as the "real" Batman.

I remember playing with my friends with our Keaton batmen, watching Bat Man TAS, when my friend Steven showed up with the animated Bat Man figure... I think it was the first time I recall feeling jealousy. then I got one and made Steven scrape the bat symbol off his figures chest on the side walk (because obviously there can be only one real Bat Man). That same week I accidently shot Steven with a pellet gun and threatened to kill him if he told his dad... I was a dick as a child.

Never thought I would find this. Thanks to in store pickup option. Wtf is up with tru and their "limit 5 per customer" on this? It's usually limit 1 or 2 at the max. Scalpers must be having a field day with these. Hopefully there's enough being made to keep them on the shelf after everything dies down.

Actually found ML in retail lol. For s $#ts and giggles hit up the 3 Walgreens in my area and came away with 2 of the 3 Hulkbuster wave figures I was missing. Found Valkrie and Iron Man. Question bout IM though, is anyone else's really loose joint wise? And his left hand came right outta the hole, had to mod it to keep it in. Anyway now only one left to get so my "Vision"quest continues lol.

To everyone who has been kind enough to send me messages, and to reply here to my recent post...I thank you. I really appreciate the wealth of support that I have received here, and trust me, there is a lot of it going on at home at well. I was fearful that perhaps I was coming off as a bit "white knight crusader" but I'm flattered to hear that some of my words were able to reach a few of you, and for that, I'm truly grateful.
Sadly nothing new to post today in terms of a haul as I'm still mostly bedridden, but I did get to see my 9 month old stand for the first time without anything to grab onto today, so that was a pretty sweet. |
