I went hunting yesterday, and still no sign of that elusive Black Cat ML figure
![]() ![]() For those of you still on the fence about these Hobbit figures, I highly recommend them. They are absolutely incredible and the sculpting and quality is easily on par with Toy Biz's LotR figures. |

Where did you find the Azog figure. I still haven't seen any of the new figures yet

Last December, when I snagged all of the first wave (well, all except for Legolas), both TrU and K-Mart both had plenty in stock, but this year, I've only seen them at Toys R Us. I'm assuming that K-Mart dropped the line due to poor sales, which is a shame, since they really are great figures, especially coming from a relatively unknown company. Oh yeah, I also saw the first wave at a Books-A-Million in another city, last year, but I haven't been to a B-A-M lately to see if they are carrying the new wave. At some point this week, when I go hunting again, I'm going to pick up the figure of Radagast the Brown. |

I'll have to keep an eye out at TRU. I really just want Azog, and maybe the 3.75 gandalf. I got that 5 pack last year that came with all my other favourites, I want both scale Azogs though, he just seems like a really cool figure

Even without his macabre trophy, the retail version of Azog is still really great. He's huge, well-detailed, adequately articulated (for a heavy and bulky figure of his size), and probably one of the coolest figures I've purchased in a while. On his loincloth, the sculptors actually depicted the faces of the dwarves whose skin Azog sewed together to make the loincloth !!! I regret waiting so long to get him, but after seeing The Desolation of Smaug, my enthusiasm was somewhat dampened, so I initially postponed the purchase. Now, I can't wait to add Radagast to my collection. |

Picked up some clearance stuff at Target. The Rogue set as trade bait and the the Turtle playset because the price was good.

Yup, even the army builders weren't hard to come by. The Night Viper is the only I didn't see more than once. I'm not big into Joes so passed on them several times over a month or so.
Online and in store are very different. I do agree that the inferior wave 1 wouldn't much compared to later waves since those figures aren't as nice AND they been out over a year. A figure might sell out quickly online at even double the retail price but could peg warm at retail or the LCS for the same price. Online you have access to millions of potential customers instead of thousands. I did find a 6 inch Boba there for $25 instead of the usual $35 - that's 1 more figure I still haven't seen @ retail yet either! And if they're selling out both on-line & what I & other professional toy dealers/sellers are finding (or in this case, not finding @ retail), seems like supply isn't meeting demand. That sounds like a unique situation up there, was @ a toy fair today talking to a # of sellers & they told me how tough it was for them to find those new cobra army builders too so it wasn't just me.

And if they're selling out both on-line & what I & other professional toy dealers/sellers are finding (or in this case, not finding @ retail), seems like supply isn't meeting demand. Certainly they aren't easy for everyone to find but we both know a good portion of the demand is created by scalpers... err resellers grabbing all they find. So many figures would be easy for collectors to find if hundreds of them didn't end up on eBay and such. With these figures we have yet another case of late waves not shipping much because stores have lost faith due to bad sales. I don't blame them clearing out a product from a movie that has been taking up space for over a year. We eventually see tons of these rare figures showing up at discount stores and the like. Its also simple math that thousands of stores across the country will carry figures from a certain line and many of those won't have any collectors that live near by. In rural areas especially you won't find many and a lot have probably just resorted to buying whole waves online. Children and their parents are still the #1 buyer of retail figures for most stores. I know in SoCal (and other large metros) you would get people lining up at TRU before it opened but outside of the Christmas season that isn't a reality for most.

Haha, $25 is the retail price for Bob up here. Saw three at the LCS the other day and they wanted $40 for him.

Yep the other 2 dealers had $35 listed but this one guy didn't list a price so I figured I'd ask - when he said $25 I took it! I did get 1 Night Viper for $20 too - sure beats the $70 when I saw one @ the last toy fair! |

For 4 days now I'm chasing the GI JOE PIT across the state but no chance... we too have scalpers in France I guess
![]() Anyway, I went to a new TR in Paris suburbs, and found this discounter AT-AT, and a bucket with a ton of Hot Wheels for 1 buck. I searched for some nice stuff I've seen here, and found this battle-damaged Enterprise. Now I have to army-build some Snowtroopers. Wich model is the best?

In SoCal they line up regardless or know people who hold items for them. Hell most of the collectors are workers. I talk to man reps they have told me many people have been fired for holding items. Target TRu have strict rules now on that. Yes most get away but least thy are trying to stop that. If it was collectors in line I would understand but it's scalpers. They buy them and jack up the price. I've meet many scalpers they are not nice people. Very rude and pushy. When ever I go to frank and sons I always see people dropping of bags of toys from target and toys r us. |

Yeah, scalpers can be like a plague of locusts sometimes. Problem is that to the store employees I'm sure your average collector and the annoying scalper are seen as the same. They have a bad experience with a rude adult buying toys and they think of all that way.

I know, I know, I should put pictures, but don't have time. . .just want to express happiness at discovering that Target had already put out the new Marvel Legends and, though the Target I was at had been picked over, I went to the other one (actually closer to my house) and got 1 of each of everything. . .Carnage, Black Cat, Hydra Soldier, AIM Trooper, Zemo, and Red Skull. And $15 each, not the $20 that it was supposed to be.

Great, but I look more forward to completing the Predaking.
But, I guess this way is better, so I can actually get to know and enjoy each piece before he becomes Predaking for the rest of his life.
