After my experience at Wal-Mart tonight, I probably won't even be bothering to check the ones in my area anymore. When I entered the aisle tonight, all there was was 3 rows of Iron Man 3 Assemblers, another two or three rows of ASM2 pegwarmers, some of those horrible titan sized Marvel Heroes, and literally 30 to 40 feet of empty peg space. Not a single Ninja Turtle (except for that shell phone thingie and two or three flingers) not a Transformer to speak of with the exception of a few Commander Class beast hunters, one row of the Star Wars two-pack pegwarmers (no Black Series figures what-so-ever) and a WHOLE MESS of the Man Of Steel garbage from last year. And this was at one of the newest Walmarts that opened where I live.
Normally I'd chock this up to a weird anomaly, or some kind of physical inventory being done, but it's been like this at EVERY Walmart that I've visited since about 2 weeks before Christmas. I'll often go by at nights to see the stuff on the pallets, but even then...nothing. It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to bother with them anymore. I ordered the ML and Stealth Cap on BBTS, I'll probably just end up biting the bullet and Ebay Black Widow when she starts to become available, unless I somehow get lucky. also, at one walmart there's been a new 52 superman figure sitting on the shelves for a while.. i'm pretty certain walmart has never sold those figures. i'm wondering if maybe someone brought it in and forgot it or something.. if i took it, i wonder if that'd be considered stealing.. i mean, it's not walmarts, they didn't buy it, and whoever brought it in and left it there clearly didn't care enough about it to pick it back up since it's been there for a couple months.. it's just odd. surprisingly, starscream is the star of that wave by far, even with the lack of a good paint job. scoop is very striking to look at, i love how the colors pop.. but he's a nightmare trying to keep everything pegged together in his alt mode.. nothing wants to stay connected, and if you press the pegs into the ports, the edges of the ports get stress marks. also, his targetmasters are so unimaginative it's criminal. their gun modes are basically two robots laying on their stomachs.. we've seen better and for $14.99 at target, we deserve better. the minicon team is a disaster.. the individual robot modes are crappy, especially the tank, his robot mode is exceptionally terrible. the combined mode looks awful. he has a gigantic gap in his torso, he's got obvious legs and arms hanging off his back. and the forearms sort of angle backwards which just looks extremely awkward. the only decent part of this set are the alt modes, they're all fairly good looking. but it's all downhill from there. lastly, skywarp.. i like the mold, and he's a must have figure if you own starscream and thundercracker.. the trio looks quite well together. i'm really hoping rhinox starts showing up in stores more frequently.. and i hope the next wave of deluxes with rattrap isn't too far off. |

Try taking it to a scanner in the store, and see if it rings up a price. If it doesn't, then it might be something that has been removed from the store's point of sale system, which in that case, usually the product was probably lost in a warehouse at some point, and has been written off already, and should have been destroyed. A manager can usually check on this for you, and if that be the case and it has been written off, ask a manager if they'll let you have it. If they're cool, sometimes they'll let you take it home. (I've actually been fortunate enough to have this happen to me, it was for a gold coined Star Wars figure at Toys R' Us several years ago...) The last thing I would do though, is to attempt to take it from the store without making an attempt to pay for it. I'd hate to see you get in trouble. |

As for the TMs themselves, have you seen the originals they're based on? To me, the Generations versions are a vast improvement - even with the transformation being almost identical. Quote:

Alas, I have not. A sea of Springers amid an ocean of Autobot voyagers, but nary a Maximal among them.
(Sorry, I was feeling poetic).

Picked up a 2nd Casey Jones. I noticed that on one of them, his right lower leg pad was not painted. I guess I can call this one my variant figure

Just got back home when I found these in my mailbox from Ebay...
Was able to find the John Blaze ML bike loose for my movie edition Ghost Rider. He finally got his ride! ![]() Future Foundation Fantastic Four MU set.... ![]() And finally, I may have caved to the scalper lot on Ebay, but I was able to actually pull Toxin in for just under forty dollars, which was roughly what I paid for Carnage. I'm just relieved that I don't have to hunt for this one in stores. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same for Black Widow when she releases... ![]() |

I'm pretty happy with the purchases I've made over the last week. Got Electro early last week, and eventually caved and got TASM2 Spider-man. I had been searching for Armada Starscream for a while and (ironically) on Sunday while searching for him at TRU and stumbled across Walking dead series 5 which I hadn't even heard had been released, so I picked up all I needed from it. And even though its not a figure, my wife picked up the Jungle book on blu-ray today from TRU and I ended up finding 1 Armada Starscream there, so I couldn't be happier

The DC Total Heroes figures are growing on me and I think this Sinestro figure is awesome. Found a silver 6in Robocop as well. Found them at Walmart. They had pegs set for the Avenger Infinite figures but they have not arrived yet.

Haven't brought it home yet, so it's technically not mine (yet) but I found this and placed it under TRU's lay-a-way program tonight!
![]() ![]() ![]() I would have snagged more pictures, but one of the employees there tonight had an issue with it, so I apologize if the photos aren't of better quality. It retails for $89.99 for those of you wondering (hence my placing it on lay-a-way...lol...) ![]() On a first impression sidenote...the paint apps on decent for the most part, but on Angel, they are terrible. He suffers from a really bad lazy eye, which was prevalent on all of the sets that were there tonight, so if you have the opportunity to check them out before you buy, do so. Otherwise you'll have an Warren Worthington who looks like he just ran into a power line... ![]() While I wasn't able to get a pic of Jean, she's pretty well painted, although they added a white line between her lips to give them the appearance of being pursed, so that might be something else you'll want to check out if you can. All and all...I'm pretty excited bout this one, and I have been waiting for one since I lost my old Toy Biz set. I can't wait to get it paid off! Happy hunting! |

Thank goodness TRU came to their senses and put it back down to $90. $90 is barely above what the Cap 2 and ASM2 Legends run per figure when you figure in the BAF ($120 / 7 = $17.14, $90 / 5 = $18). I look forward to finding this near me!
Cool find! |

I'm kind of surprised the store clerk had an issue with you taking photos of the toy. Most of them seem pretty indifferent to just about everything going on in the stores near me.

I've had quite a few employees, typically at Target and TrU, make a point to come over to me to see what I was doing, while I was taking pics for the "Look What I Passed Up" thread. Before they get the chance to become overly inquisitive, I just say "it's for Twitter", lol, and they usually just walk away with confused looks on their faces. I figure that's a simpler explanation than having to explain the truth to them. Who else but a collector would understand why an individual would take pics of a figure that they did NOT intend to purchase, just to let know other collectors know that they passed on it for whatever reason, lol ?!?
