What an odd property to suddenly hear about again. I don't remember that female character or at least one that was so lovely.

Woah, where did this come from??? Totally unexpected for me... in a very pleasant way ! If that is the prototype, that looks really good!

I cannot believe I am actually seeing this article!!
Dino-Riders was literally one of my all time favorite shows growing up, I am beyond stoked to see it get new life, and I'm really stoked for the possibility of a posable line with Creative Beast Studios!! Last edited by RodimusZX; 02-09-2020 at 07:43 AM.. |

Oh wow, it's the grand daughter. Or was she the daughter? I forget it's been so long. I would love to see what Krulos would look like.

Because if there's one way a toyline that was dedicated to putting armor and missiles on dinosaurs should be revived, it's as a series of... statues?

Granted, there is still a market for 1/6 articulated figures or Dolls, but that tends to be a little niche. The reason you get a lot of Hot Toys purchase is once again to do with the accuracy of clothing and head sculpts rather than the articulation. The articulation in the Hot Toys figures tend to be very limited anyway, and if you keep them posed in a good action pose, you are looking at possible damage to the figure body too. In the case of exposed joints, then it becomes a nightmare to design them in a way that its still functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. From the perspective of a company that produces these collectibles, you avoid all these problem by making statues, and you pick a cool pose/design to get your team to work. |

I think the reason is that most of the customer base will likely be adults, given the age of the cartoon. Adult collectors do tend to prefer statues to figures, since it does give a sense that they are buying something artistic and an accurate representation of a character (hence the scale).

The edition sizes can usually be very small for these statues, so that ends up boosting up the price really high in the aftermarket too. This possibility makes it seem OK to jump in and buy it. Action figures on the other hand are usually mass produced, making it highly unlikely to retain value. |

I really hope these guys will keep the prices down though. I was looking forward to this 1/10 Monster Hunter statues by Kinettiquette, but the price for one of their 1/10 warriors was 280 USD!!! That is wayyyy too much for a 1/10, but they have no issue doing that because they know it will sell. Last edited by ddarko; 02-09-2020 at 06:12 PM.. |

Whats baffling to me is how Inhumanoids and Silverhawks cant even get a Funko Pop while this property is getting high end statues and what not. |

Oh, you'd be surprised. IFor an example, I can't afford Prime1, and neither do I have the space. BUT, if you go on statue forums, there are owners and you can see their displays. There are also folks like XM Studio that keep pumping out statues and the pre-orders get sold out in no time.

I actually think that Dino-Riders makes a lot of sense, for, if nothing else, there are millions of dinosaur lovers out there, and it would be a very provocative cool display piece for even dino fans who didn't know the original to have in their houses. I just hope they don't price themselves under before the line gets off the ground. |

Well, Inhumanoids is Hasbro, so that's why you'll never get a Funko toy, and Silverhawks is Warner Bros, and they've been weird about how or when they'll license their 80's properties, Thundercats toys have only recently started coming out again with the goofy new show, after a long dry spell.

Umm...sorry if I gave the wrong idea, but that is actually not the case. Out of the 49 figures I own, 30 are articulated figures. I only own 19 statues.
http://www.toyark.com/ddarko-collection-179507/ I was just explaining that even though you and I are down for articulated figures, its more of a niche hobby among the older fan bases (even within the niche hobby of collecting figures). I personally like articulated figures because its great for photography. Last edited by ddarko; 02-09-2020 at 06:52 PM.. |

Dino Riders should've gone to Mattel, and they could've worked out a deal to re-use the Jurassic Park dino molds for them haha

One could argue though that Mattel has been putting out Dino-Rider toys for years through their Imaginext Dinosaur and Imgaginext Jurrasic Park lines. They have been pumping out toys for a while now that are so inspired by the original IP that they are near carbon copies of the originals, right down to the brain boxes. They've just been doing it quietly to a much younger audience. As a huge Dino Riders fan who had most of the line as a child, I'm thrilled to see the franchise get any love. I never thought it would be in statue form, which is unfortunate because I simply don't do statues and maquettes. One final thought, it's actually a little jarring at first seeing the very innocent 80s cartoon (who was often quite motherly) Serena in such a super sleek and sexy look that could easily pass for a test shot for a feature film to the untrained eye. I remember hearing all the way back in 2015 that Mattel was looking to produce a big budget Dino Riders film. Eventually talks died down for some reason and not much else was reported on it. Upon remembering that and seeing the realistic and well translated look of this statue, the thought came to mind that of wondering if the inspiration for this hyper realistic look of the statues comes from some (presumably) shelved designs that we may have seen should that film had received the green light? I'm eager to see how other human characters such as Questar and Gunnur translate to this look, as well as the Rulons...especially the mainline characters like Krulos, Antor, Rasp Krok and Hammerhead. Fans may be older, but even still statue collecting is even more niche than 1/6 scale figures. Dinosaucers is something I'd kind of expect Super7 to hit if anyone.
With the scale and dinosaurs involved, I don't see too many things being made outside of 1/18 scale. I remember having toys as a kid but I don't remember literally anything else about it. I couldn't name a character and I don't even remember if there was a tv show lol. |

That's a different dinosaur-based IP but yeah, Dinosaucers would totally be the kind of thing S7 would do.
