I own one of those, just haven't gotten around to doing much with it yet. It's collecting dust in my basement along with my 3D plastic mold injector, a massive $20,000 wide format printer that prints up to 5 feet wide, any length, up to 1 inch thick, a pad printer. I could literally start a toy factory (which at one point was my dream) but I realized how much work it actually takes even after getting the equipment. Plus people are cheap and unwilling to pay me for the amount of time and money it would cost for me to get this stuff sorted. Let's say I made a cool playset, people would want to pay no more than $30 for it and it took me $50 in plastic to cast one prototype, $100 to cast a silicone rubber mold. Months to design it, 10 hours to machine it, etc. Also, you've got to realize that these machines go through wear and tear. It's simply not a good idea to have the machine arm carve your entire prototype and mass produce the product through the machine which while easy would quickly burn out your very expensive machine. Casting a head is one thing but when you get complex, there's really no money in it at all. Like I said, people are cheapskates. They want to pay Hasbro and Mattel prices, and because they wouldn't know who I am, they'd expect to pay even less for my "no name" toys. I do, however, produce some pretty badass customs.

I've come back to this thread to look at ludovicotek's diorama about nine times this morning. I might be spamming your collection thread with questions soon, man.

It's really easy to get too ADD about this kind of stuff and dream big and before you know it, you've bitten off more than you could chew. Most of my custom work for MU is hand sculpted. I have a big passion for art. I do plan on posting some pics of my collection at some point, though. Stay tuned for that. LOL. ![]() |

Thanks guys for your comments.
![]() Concerning the newest wave of MU, with Dr. Strange/Skaar/etc., anybody know when BBTS is planning on shipping theirs? I'm going nuts hearing about everyone finding them and I haven't seen them in stores yet around me and there's still no word from BBTS. They usually ship out before retail sightings. EDIT: Nevermind! I just got an email from them informing me that they are in stock! YES!!! Time to ship my POL Last edited by ludovicotek; 08-09-2011 at 01:03 PM.. |

This is the first time I haven't found a wave at retail. It never takes this long after sightings for waves to show up down here. Oh well. At least they're on their way now.

Man, Constrictor is AWESOME! Love the tentacles. Just a really great figure all around. I also just got comic Whiplash yesterday, so when I get home, I'm gonna have them do a whip-off! Now that I actually write this, I realize the concept is better in my head.

of course. ive been reading marvel since disassembled. i try to budget when it comes to comics cause i spend at least 80 a month on them on top of MU and the generations transformers. But in terms of x men comics theres too many books and its never really interested me. I did enjoy house of m and all the tie ins though.

Agreed. The messiah complex along with the x force series is a must read. The book that ends it all is x men second coming.

I dont collect them for their monetary worth in the future. If they look good to me, or if its a character ive read from the comics. I fell in love with the line cause of how well they transfer from a 2d to a 3d medium, especially for a figure its size.
