Too big for standard Brood, but not for the queen- and best of all, you can get a bunch of Heroclix Brood and make little Brood hatchlings to go with her! That would look awsome! Broodlings crawling all over the X-Men while she holds down Peter...

I'd really repaint the Toybiz fig though- maybe swap out it's teeth too.

At least throw down a nice black wash on her- I bet that would do wonders for that fig- cheap to do too!

Here is some serious talk for you guys. I'm an artist, always have been ever since I was a little kid and I've been developing my abilities through out my life. Why don't I make customs? WTF? I always tell myself that I'm going to work on something, but never seemed to actually do it. I repainted a Carnage figure a while back (it turned out great) and all I used was a cheap paint brush and nail polish. Sometimes I really piss myself off.

Yeah, I figured they were a tad largish. They'd make a good Queen for sure. I do plan on fully customizing them, I see a lot of potential in them.

Do you have any of the Marvel Select Brood that came with the Skrull? If so are they smaller than the ToyBiz? I know they lack any articulation.

I was unaware of the Brood Heroclix, cool idea. I eventually would like to incorporatye some Shi'ar, Starjammers, Brood, Lillandra, etc. into my X-men collection. I almost want to make a running display that covers different arcs/timelines from left to right on the shelf, with the original five fighting Mimic and Magneto through Krakatoa, to the Brood, etc.

Good question... not to mention you sold a ton of figures off, which could of been custom works of art. Some custom's Jin's come to mind are 100x better then what the comany themselves make so yeh why not make some customs. It's basically art just 3d art, you canvas has curves and dimensions, contures and bends, angles and depths you can't get from a static canvas, however it's just as tediuous and frustating but just as rewardings 2. you should make some attempts, you could go the true artsy side and go with mighty muggs and kidrobots munny/dunny line, or stick with MU,ML and joes.

Yeah, I've been dwelling on selling off my figures but it had to be done. It has been a rough ride trying to find work but I'm still getting by. As far as the idea of artwork and incorporating my skills into the action figure realm, well, I have the time but lack the guidance and would need to know more about the right paints, puddy, etc. That is how shit is. Anyway, I'll consider giving it a shot.

Yeah! You suck!

Really, making stuff like my Moon Knight tweak is quick and easy- I'm making a Black Bolt and Shroud the same way- no sculpting involved, just basic paint apps.

That's a great idea!
I plan on making the Exiles- with some tweaking, I think I can get Helix's head to work for Blink- maybe use X-23 legs....and I'll need to make Blink of course- I figure Colussus body, Renegades Duke head, custom wolvie claws and some paint...

As to Heroclix, they have the best Ant Man and Wasp you can find (use the Ultimate wasp because she's even smaller than the SW pack version!).
Also, some of the figs (like Shaman) have clear energy bits that can be glued together for MU effects.

Ever go to CJ's Comics? He's got big plastic bins full of loose figures, dirt cheap- hundreds of Heroclix for a buck a pop too.
If nothing else, they rock for reference when making customs!

All great ideas! I need to find a good comic shop, I have been out of that loop for some time (he says as he talks about Krakatoa, Brood, lol.).

I make my own blast effects, sometimes I go the extra mile:

If you can open up the site on your phone, you can just use the coupons straight from your phone.

DogFashionDisco, honestly I don't do a ton of customizing because it's time consuming and expensive as in buying figures inorder to get parts to make a better figure. I can understand buying or getting a lot of toys from someone and using the less desireable figures to make something cool, but it pains me to spend extra $$ to buy 1 figure to keep stock and 1 to customize. I see some collectors who customize everything. I try to be more subtle with simple headswaps, weapon swaps and vehicles, but I try not to go 2 overboard. I have thought of doing a few customs but finding the time is hard, I do art myself drawing and painting, I just ask friends if they want anything and I get submissions here and there not quitting my day job but something to help substidise.

Yes, if you order form K-mart.com you will definitely be making a "I order 12 Frost giants and got 12 light up hammer Thors" thread, lol

Very damn cool!
When you get back into town, I'll introduce you to CJ- his place is in Wilton Manors, just north of Oakland Park Blvd.
He's always getting new stuff and hooking me up- super cool.

I gotta see if he's got that Brood fig- since we're talking about it, I'm getting ideas for customizing the damn thing!
Get a pack of plastic toothpics for the teeth- swap the tail stingers too.
Maybe have the Broodlings on her back the way spiders sometimes carry their young.

Yup mine's the same. Going to see if they have anything good tonight, than go back during Sunday to see if they have any BOGO's for MU's. Can always get extra trade fodder for new stuff.
