Why don't you report his ass and get him fired, ensuring it won't happen by other employees. Or just threaten that you will report so he coughs them up. And before you have people say shit, like not cool he may have a family blah blah blah, it is unethical what is being done. You don't see me stealing software from my company and selling it.

Have those SW Expanded Universe figures hit retail yet? I've only seen them once when i was at the EMP museum gift shop in Seattle a month-ish ago. I considered buying them but at $19.99 each...then thought i better not.

Should i have?

regarding your comment on lapulapu, yup, TRUs are abundant here. Actually, there are only 2 retail toy stores here, TRU and Toy Kingdom. you got V-mall correct. It's a toy collector's heaven and hell, mostly specialty stores. SM is a little different now though. SM is the basic mall where both TRU and TK is at most of the time.

Sooo all SMs now will have TRUs and TK. I dont recall the last time i was there. Good to know good to know...

Yes, they are freaking hard to find. I have never seen any of them. I broke down and bought Shae Vizla on Amazon for 25 shipped.

Maybe it's because it's been 100 years since I've been to EMP... but why would they have Star Wars figures?

Honestly? have him fired because as a grown man you cannot buy a toy?

That is crazy, He is not stealing and ethics do not come into it, You cannot call ethics when the companiy that makes the toy in question have told people if they want the toy that much to get their wallet out and hit ebay (I believe one of our very own were told to do that during a Q&A at sdcc)

I understand that Scalpers are a pain and that the world would be a better place if we could all buy stuff at retail but sometimes things are not as easy as we would like.

It is unethical when you are denying someone an opportunity to benefit your own gain. Yes it is a toy, but still as an employee taking something without giving anyone a chance to puchase it, should be fired. What if this happened around christmas and the toy was not for you, it was for your child. Lot's of adults want to please their children and if the employee takes all the hottest toys before anyone has a chance to purchase them, just so he can sell them, that is not right.

This is no different from insider trading, so to speak. The employee ALWAYS has an edge over the regular consumer because they know when new shipments arrive and actually handle the toys personally. The consumer just goes to the store and sees what's available. It's beyond despicable that an employee would actually stockpile toys to scalp on the secondary market. Corporate needs to implement rules that limit the amount employees can purchase of any given item. This is ridiculous.

You really should complain to the manager, unless it's the manager who is the scalper. I would. If the store cannot provide you with what you want...there's no reason to go...hence losing a loyal customer.

I have raised my Daughter to understand that you can't always get what you want and that you need to chalk it up and move on, sometimes as adults we forget that children need life lessons and disappointment is a very valuable one.

I don't like Scalpers but at the same time if I buy something from here and it has a $4.99 ross sticker on it should I demand that the seller gives it to me at that price as he has denied me the chance to buy it at $4.99 or should I pay the price he asks because he has the item and I don't?

I actually agree that staff should not get to buy multiple items and if he was using his employee discount then it would probably flag at H/O but I would never call for someone to lose their job.

Someone on another forum I mostly lurk at brought up a point on this. Retail employees have very few perks. I'm not saying it justifies it, heck, I dislike scalpers as much as the next guy, but they can't buy em all. Sometimes you just have to wait for the items a little longer.

I totally agree with what you are teaching your daughter, kids now adays can get too spoiled and they need to be taught lessons. Scalpers is a whole other issue that you can hop on over to the Marvel 6.00 thread to read about lol. But employees getting the jump on everyone else like shortyben said is a whole other level. If the employee was a collector themselves, that would be cool, work sucks and that is one of your benefits to get first pick of what you want for your collection, but if a wave never hits pegs because you take the one per case each time to resell, that is jacked up. They should have an employee limit one per figure, but really what company is going to keep track of that.

I worked retail years ago (video games) and the rules were simply that you could buy one for you and one for a relative, anymore than that and it did flag up and the sale was denied (if you wanted discount then you had to use a card which tracked your purchases).

I agree that he is taking the piss abit but his manager should be all over it anyway tbh

I hate this kind of thing. I'd find the appropriate person to say something to and do just that. I used to work retail and our Loss Prevention peoples were on top of employees stashing stuff to buy after their shift. The rule was it had to be on the shelf straight out the box and you could not as an associate touch it until you clocked out for your break.

Now I can't say that folks didn't get away with some stuff from time to time but essentially this is stealing. think about it, if the item hits the shelf and you have a non associate purchase the item that it more profit for the retailer because typically the associate gets some sort of discount. Our LP would let me get first dib looks at stuff fresh out of the case but if I wasn't on my break I could only put it on the shelf. needless to say times have changed

sorry this happened to you Shorty, but like you said you asked what was in the back and I had that happen @ a Target and they were kind enough to go get the figures that were stashed in the back but that is usually the exception.

Is that the new 2pk Magneto? Why didn't they just modify the Quick Silver head like I did instead of repainting the Adam Warlock head?

I really need to get some of those ultra fine detail Gundam pens for the top of the eyes.

Agreed the manager should be taking charge, the system you guys had seemed fair. I would have thought there already was a store policy for this type of thing already. Oh well, I guess whatever that guy is doing, karma will catch up to him eventually.

Jimmy and Alchemist...it's funny that I agree with both of your points of view (maybe I'm just overly diplomatic). Bottom line (imho at least) is that, yes, you should report him to his manager, his manager should ultimately handle it, and it's fair to speak up and say that if it continues you have every right to stop going there and they'd therefore lose a customer. I applaud your debate, gentlemen...not even any name calling or a picture of Pym flipping the bird, lol.

its the same figure, the top comes off. Just go with BAF if that is the price, otherwise find a loose one should be much less than $45.

yup I like it alot also its kinda in scale with MU, the Apocalypse is kinda nice as well , if MU didnt have Apoc , I wouldve got that because the BAF Apoc is way outta my toy budget.

Yeah Im really trying to resist resorting to ebay/amazon, I go by Shockwave's mantra ,"Patience".

@ Shortysben one of the TRU , I used to checked also have employees who cherry picked the new/hottest toys , I just crosses em off my hunt list , when an employee is a fellow collector its bad news for the customer collector unless you make friends with them.
