I've seen three cases in the wild , two variant and one "regular". Is it possible the Variant case is the most abundant?

Variant doesn't mean rare, it just means different, so it's possible. Although if you read what I posted a page back you'll see why I do not think that will be the case once distribution is all said and done. In other words, get your variants now, if you want them.

Even super soldiers have their weaknesses..

Okay, I got my variant Steve. He is definitely not black, but he is darker than the regular version. They aren't all that different though. If I had to guess I would say they have the same base color, but regular Steve has a lighter highlight applied to most of him.

The browns (belt, harness, leg armor, pouches) are different. Regular steve has darker brown while variant steve has a lighter brown.

Shields aside, I'm not sure which one I like more. I am leaning toward the regular, the blue is a bit nicer. But the light browns pop more on the variant. Obviously, get the one based on what shield you like. The other differences are not that big. I might sell off the variant with the regular shield or I may keep both. Undecided as of now.

I managed to find the variant wave at TRU today (picked up all but Iron Man) and then picked up the normal Ghost Rider at a Target. I haven't opened any of them yet but watching a review for Cap I hadn't realized that his shield had the same pegging crap on it like the movie line cap's had.

I really wish that the shield had straps on it...maybe I can pick up a loose ToyBiz one up for cheap somewhere.
