I figure, if it's something I want, and Im supposed to have, I will find it at a price I am willing to pay. If I am only willing to pay $10 maybe it will take me a bit longer to find than the guy who knows his area will never have said item and he is willing to $70. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. Im not arguing against your opinion. I just think this hobby kinda makes us all lose sight of reality a bit. I guess that's the point though.

To me, scalpers are the guys at Frank & Sons. They fit the description perfectly. I don't see anything wrong with grabbing some figures and selling them on eBay to make a profit - I mean, we can actually help support our hobby with that extra cash. If I come across something of value, sure I'll grab more and try to make a few bucks. I don't see anything wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with making a profit, but there's something wrong with depriving every other collector out there of something they really want. Someone that drives to every single store within a 50 mile radius simply to grab all of something with the sole intention of reselling it at a huge markup... that's a scalper in my book. I sell stuff on eBay too, but I help out Arkers when I can as well.

If I can't find something, I either wait or just give up on it. I don't get angry at the world. I need the new ML Deadpool and MU Professor X, I am not calling everyone scalpers and staying pissed off, I'll wait until I find them or find a decent price, if not oh well. I'm not a completionist so it does not bother me, but seriously you asked a question and I gave you an answer. The definiton of a scalper is a person who resells shares or tickets at a large or quick profit, which is what exactly you described.
I can understand that the manufacturers are at fault for poor distribution, but I can honestly say that there are extreme scalpers in the LA area. Out of all the hunting I've done over the past few weeks, I wasn't even able to spend more than $100 on buying stuff at retail because I couldn't find anything. Then you go look at eBay or go to Frank & Sons - you'll find a whole bunch of sellers from Los Angeles that are selling crap for outrageous prices. And that same crap is the stuff I am never able to find anywhere. If people are willing to buy it, then that's on the buyer. I can't blame the seller for the buyer's idiocy. However I can blame the seller for grabbing ever friggin' item off the pegs and leaving nothing for anyone else. There's really nothing I can do about it, though, because people will do whatever they want to do regardless of what I have to say about it. Do I feel a little better when I talk smack about scalpers? Yeah, somewhat. At least I know why I can't find something and I get to vent about it. Thankfully, I have this site to retreat to when a hunting day goes bad. There will normally be someone on here that's willing to lend a helping hand and relieve my stress.

When it comes to scalpers, it's all about $ in the end. Can I be upset about people wanting more $? Nope. Maybe I should just become a scalper lol.

I've sold stuff on here before and ended up losing money when the shipping cost more than anticipated. I try to hook people up with the stuff that seems to be Canada only but I do think a lot of Arkers feel entitled to "cost+shipping" and they think cost is just the retail price not even including tax. I got to make a dollar or two on a figure for my time. Heck, when I get Galactus for people I only make about $3.50 on it as I round up to the nearest $5 mark at that price. I could just put the stuff on ebay and have that money for my own collection.

I have a problem with scalpers when they make it hard for me to find things at retail by buying all certain items. That CREATES a high price on the secondary market. We see it with figures of popular characters that are slow to come out, even if they will be plentiful later, like the new MU comic packs. Someone will always get it early and try to sell it for a high price on ebay. That leads to others jumping to conclusions that said item is rare, which makes them grab all of up when they see it on shelves thus creating an artificial price. Once a ton show up ebay at least the crazy high prices come down a bit but because someone paid $50 or $60 last month why won't they pay $25-$30 now. This rarely happens with repaints of common figures or characters that aren't desired.

Somewhat on topic, what is a fair price for the SDCC X-Force 3-pack and Fantomex unopened?

Lol maybe that's wrong too, I don't know. I just know that all Deadpools I find in the field will belong to me and will be sold to the highest bidder and Im 99% sure that goes for just about everybody on this site. That's just smart business. Ive done a bunch of deals on the Ark (with some great folks) and have never tried to rip anyone off. If I have something that the homie is gonna give me $10 for but this other dude is gonna give me $70.... sorry homie.

Like I said, not directed at anybody. I don't want no problems. I love yall, have a good day and God Bless... one.
Only agree a little...if there's a chance for good money, then yes, I'm likely going to go for the money...but not at the exense of someone I'm cool with. That just seems like a dick move to make when the situation arises.

Soooo, is it a good idea to try and pick up as many of those 6" Spidey figs should I come across them? Don't wanna end up being stuck with a crapload.

I would say the Miles Spidey will be popular among Legends collectors. I mean, its clearly obvious the fig is cool and fits with ML.

The other two will be essential for the completists, of course.

hey that doesn't look 'so bad'. it looks to be the perfect height scale but he does look a little too 'roided up. I however totally see why folks are wanting to snatch him up and think he would make a worthy addition to any legends collection
