Already had previous Venom and Carnage releases, Typhoid Mary has zero to do with Venom, as far as I know. I would have preferred She-Venom, Agony, Shriek … ANYONE other than some badly dressed hooker toy. So I passed on the wave as a whole. Glad This Venom is being released separately.
Typhoid Mary at the time had a lot going for her and was in demand with her eventually debut on Netflix, so I think Hasbro needed somewhere to put her in, and being Ravencroft crazy helped her fit in with Venom rather than to dump yet another street level character into a Spider-Man wave. Sure, you can find other choices to throw in there. She-Venom (especially in hindsight from the movie) would have been better, but I think Hasbro held that back with some other characters for a possible Venom 2. But I don't think Agony had a chance to get a figure in the same wave that already had Scream. And Shriek (who funnily enough I think dresses even more provocatively than your "hooker" Mary) wasn't really being asked for by fans before Hasbro did Doppelganger and started building that Maximum Carnage shelf, and I also think Hasbro is keeping characters like her on the back burner so they don't run out of new women for Spider-Man waves. So I think Mary was fine, the figure was good, and even if you don't like her she makes for good trade and/or custom fodder. |

I had Venom and Carnage already, too, but this release did come with some extra stuff the originals didn't. And over all it was to be expected, there was no way Venom and Carnage weren't going to be in the first ever Venom wave, and both (especially Carnage) were going for a bit on the secondary market. It was obvious demand Hasbro wasn't going to ignore.

To each their own. I'm glad you like Typhoid. For me, she was a major negative for me for an overall disappointing wave. Same with Bunny and Liu Kang in the new Demo wave. I'm sure their fans are thrilled, but for ME, it's worthless. So I'm glad that Marvel/Hasbro are releasing BAF separately now, so I can get the figures I'd never complete in the "old days" because I don't want to buy the garbage figures (my opinion) just for a leg or glider or whatever.
Me, I skipped the original Venom BAF because I didn't care for the design (that was the Mac Gargan Venom, yes?), so I'm glad for the e-release as well with the original Eddie Brock Venom design elements. |

As you said, to each their own. I'm glad you can get your hands on the Venom BAF without having to wade through a wave of figures that you personally don't like.

The main giveaway was the spider emblem being all jagged and disorderly with the legs going over his shoulders. There was a specific panel from Thunderbolts by Deodato that I'm almost sure the figure was based on, though in the comic he was much larger. Gargan Venom didn't always have the distinct separate eyes within the white areas.

Not quite sure why the campaigning. I'm merely stating my reasons for being excited for the Venom BAF solo release. I get a character that I want that was part of a wave I PERSONALLY thought was mediocre at best. That's all. No campaigning necessary. Also, as far as Shriek goes, I don't care much for her or Carnage, but in her original appearance (the only time I ever saw her in comics - I quit shortly after) she was dressed in a full spandex outfit. I googled random pics and I agree, she's devolved even worse, outfit-wise... but still not in obvious street-walker outfit Typhoid was, especially for a kids toy. But anyway... moving on. This got far more attention than I expected or wanted.

![]() He did the same shit to me - I had the audacity to disagree with him and got harassed via PM afterwards. Just in case he doesn’t quit for good this time, give the mods a reason to finally ban him. We don’t need toxic behavior like this around here. |

Did any iteration of Eddie's Venom have toes??
Not being a Venom fan, that's what I used to distinguish him from Mac... |

You're welcome. Stuff like this shouldn’t happen to begin with and thankfully this is one of the few instances where I’ve come across something along the lines around here.
Some of the newer comic designs, yeah. Don’t know when he first had them though. ![]() Personally the eyes within the white spots on his head are a dead giveaway for me, Brock as Venom doesn't have those. Neither does the BAF Monster Venom that takes many design cues from the Mac Gargan design though which is a bit weird. |

@Ramen
That's Bagley's art, right? Given his tenure with Spidey, I guess I can accept this as the new normal for Venom. I do remember, now that you've mentioned it, the visible eyes in some illustrations, but it wasn't consistently drawn - especially in T-Bolts. I used to also distinguish the two by the jagged borders that outline the white-eye design of the cowl. However, in that Bagley pic (if that's indeed his art) there is a degree of jaggedness (word?) that would lead me to believe it's Mac... So confused... |

The spider is the more reliable distinction, Eddie's spider has always been contained and more or less the same shape while Mac's is jagged and sprawling (except for when he slims down and pretends to be Spidey for the Dark Avengers). Even then I'm generalizing since in books where the Thunderbolts would guest star during Dark Reign (like their guest spot in Moon Knight's book) Mac appeared near identical to Eddie as Venom. The eyes within the white aren't always reliable either since during Deodato's run on Thunderbolts he often drew Mac without them and whoever was on coloring just made them appear brighter or glowing at the fronts but there were no separate eyes in the white.

Correct, the panel's from 2018's "Venom: First Host #1".

I probably wouldn't be able to differentiate Eddie and Mac just by that. Especially since as you guys noted, the Mac Gargan Venom doesn’t always have the human-like eyes within the white spots. Quote:

However the rest looks so good - the black and blue colors with the classic Venom spider emblem that it's not a huge loss IMO. |
