hurray for reading!
From what I understand, Jesse Falcon, of Marvel Toys, works with Hasbro on the Marvel Legends and Universe lines. Some of the former Marvel Toys sculptors are working on the lines too.

ML started as a Toy Biz toyline but Hasbro took over in 2007. IIRC, Marvel/Disney/Toy Biz can get more profits from licensing out their properties for figures than developing products for them on their own.

I'm sorry but theres a lot of inconsistancies in that
Toybiz became Marvel Toys when Hasbro gained the Toy rights back in 2007, and they continued to make toys for TNA Wrestling and that Legends of Comicbooks line

Marvel wasnt purchased by Disney in 2009. The initial conversations were made, but the deal didnt happen untill january 2010. Close but no cigar.

Hasbro also makes toys for Disney. Their products are featured in the Toy Story films, and even does special products for Walt Disney World.

Lastly, Marvel may be a part of Disney, but its its own company. Theres still a high chance that Hasbro will continue to be Marvel's company of choice beyond 2017.

Here, here. Add to that the fact that Hasbro has a proven track record handling the Marvel product. My money is on Disney/Marvel keeping the license at Hasbro. It makes much more sense from a business standpoint. Disney/Marvel does not have to invest in tooling all new product and they get paid by Hasbro to use their property. Also, since Hasbro and Marvel already have a really good working relationship it seems that it would be more trouble to take the license somewhere else and start all over again. There is still quite a bit of time before the contract is up, so who knows what will happen between now and then, but I bet Hasbro keeps the license.

I do follow your logic and I admit it is possible....but its also very conditional and speculative....

In theory why would Disney even need to move it to Mattel or Hasbro? Like you said Disney has "Marvel Toys" which could easily produce Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe by itself...

But also...what has Marvel Toys been doing? It had a short run of some lesser known comic book figures but from what I can tell....nothing else?

So wouldn't it be in Disney's best interest to leave toy production to a company who is solidified, has a business plan which is seemingly effective both fiscally and to it's customers?

I don't know....you do bring up a very good point though. I just pray no one touches Marvel Universe :-/

Yeah, except you didn't read what happened with Marvel Toys...they closed the division soon after Hasbro acquired the license to produce the toys

Right now, there are NO staff at Marvel/Disney devoted to producing toys in any form (in fact, I think Hasbro snapped up some of the old Toy Biz staff after Legendary Comic crashed and burned at retail)

Edit: I was slow, got beat by a ton of people :lol

Exactly, and Might I add one more thing

Marvel's own EIC has actually worked on Hasbros Product. Not to mention several of their other Artists. I cant imagine any moment in the last decade that Marvels artists drew for Toybiz before Hasbro took it. Only thing I can think of is the X-Men figure series's with their boxart and I'm fairly certain those were ripped from the comics themselves.

Not to mention Hasbro and Marvel are making HUGE money on that Super Hero Squad. Kids love it, the Cartoon is entertaining, and its just an all around fun thing that I see no end to it. If any factor proves the success of Marvel/Hasbro, its SHS

I don't really collect 6 inch anymore but a few figuress i would buy would be
Redos:
Storm (the one from the poll would be Excellent)
Scarlet Witch (terrible figure for awesome and important character)
Phoenix (Light, Dark,, and White Phoenix would be welcomed)
Pylocke (never liked the original, Electra Base with new Head would be good)
Rouge ( never got and Official ML Rouge just the Box Set and X-men Classics one)
Ms Marvel (Used Same Base as Phoenix and I hated that Sculpt need a new one)
Kitty Pryde (ML one was good, But I want a classic Shadow Cat)
Emma Frost( I don't think i need to explain that one)

New figures
Dazzler (has really made a comeback recently and hasn't gotten a figure since a Pre-Legends Exclusive figure as far as I know)
Polaris (Same as Above)
Jubilee

Really good list. It really shows the importance of female characters. They're usually the favorites.

I HATED the ToyBiz ML Scarlet Witch. Horrible figure.

Was there a single carded? I only knew of the box set version.

One of my favorite characters and her ML figure sucked.

My number one female choice, now that we're finally getting Jessica Drew.

Let's see....predictions.

Winter Soldier on a single card
Deadpool on a single card
Captain America (Bucky)
Extremis Iron Man
Bleeding Edge Iron Man (Assuming we don't get these two in the "Iron Man Legends" line)
X-23 (X-Force uniform)
Wolverine (X-Force)
Archangel (X-Force...see a pattern? I'm just going to put "The Rest of X Force" in here)
Rogue
Spider-Man (Dunno which...don't care, we just know we'll be getting him).
Modern Thor
Steve "Super Soldier" Rogers
Luke Cage
Daken/Dark Wolverine
Gladiator
Havok
Polaris
Nova (Modern)
Thanos

Obviously we probably won't get these all in the first year, but I'm betting most if not all are "in the parking lot" as Hasbro often says.

Of course, I would be remiss without adding:

ML-sized versions of Movie-Thor and Movie-Cap (and probably Red Skull and Loki to boot).

At SDCC, Hasbro said some 6" figures aside from the mass market 6" Iron Man waves would make it to shelves in 2011, I'm guessing this might be movie Cap and Thor figures. If they do Cap, it is an easy way/excuse to bring out a Marvel Legends style New Captain America, and others. The last "modern Cap" we got was in 2006, part of the Face Off 2 packs.

This sounds very likely, though I wouldn't be sure on much beyond the main movie characters (likely as exclusives ala the Iron Man figs at Wal-Mart now). But we can hope.

A ML Legacy Rogue with all the X-men powers would be really cool. I hope they produce that one.

On another note, I think they should brand the new Legends series as Marvel Universe: Legends, or something like that. Just to make the whole line fit as a whole. They could do that with the movie lines too.

Well some of the facts people added i didnt know, so sure it might make sense for them to keep hasbro, but this comment

Quote:

You can take the public date and throw it around but I worked for disney at the end of 2009 and trust me, they had a giant mickey dressed as spiderman in the office and actually started receiving shipments of marvel products in the warehouse way before jan 2010.

That you got "Marvel products" in 2009 doesn't really mean anything, though. Nothing conclusive, anyway. Marvel has made deals with several companies to produce all kinds of products with their characters on it, including Hasbro. If you got stuff like Marvel Universe or Super Hero Squad, those are Hasbro products that use licensed Marvel characters, not actual Marvel products.

It could have simply been part of researching the company and its business partners.

If I may ask, which division of Disney did you work for last year?

Redo-
SCARLET WITCH!
White Queen

New-
Finish off the Young Avengers, with Vision, Hawkeye, and Stature
Runaways
Blink
Jean Grey (Jim Lee)

One thing I don't get... between Toybiz, Hasbro, and Mattel, NO ONE seems capable of making a decent girl.
DC Direct, and Marvel Select seem perfectly capable of making decent looking girls, on simular scales.

Whoa....yea we definitely need a Jim Lee Jean! As for girls, I still think Hasbro sculpted a decent figure for Bombstrike from Valor VS Venom.

and they can do some pretty good star wars chicks, too. And the girls in TF Animated were brilliant. But I'm talking about marvel legends, and DCU Classics. Superheroes.
The Joe team and SW team are separate from the Marvel team, so the comparisons really don't count. Or at least, they defiantely have the six inch lines coming up dramatically short.
As is, in the history of ML, and DCUC, there have only been a couple girls that even approached half way decent. ESPECIALLY since Toybiz did some spectacular women pre-ML.

I also don't have the slightest idea who or what bombstrike is.

When disney bought marvel in 2009 they acquired toybiz also, and renamed the division "Marvel Toys"
Sometime in 2017 Hasbro's deal will be up and most likely Disney will manufacture marvel toys under "Marvel Toys"

Considering hasbro is actually something of a rival of disney in terms of their cartoons and the fact that disney has a long standing relationship with mattel
I have serious doubts they will keep the venture any longer than they have to. So .. I look forward to real marvel legends toys in 2017! made by the renamed toybiz division called Marvel Toys!

hurray for reading!
Toybiz became Marvel toys before disney bought them(by almost 5 years, it started to happen right before they gave up the marvel toy rights). Right now the only toy line they really have is Curious George. Maybe a few other scattered children's ones besides the short lived indie heroes thing.

Disney and Hasbro aren't really rivals either. They both handle stuff from the other on occasion, like the disney monopoly games, and some other board games. They worked together previously on many lines and Disney movie lines in the past as well. Mr. Potato head for example is Hasbro owned too. Add in the Star Wars fact too. (Star tours at disney), and you can bet Disney will never do anything to strain that relationship.

Mattel won't get the Marvel license in 2017, Marvel toys maybe but doubtful. Disney will play nice so they can keep doing the disney board games, and Disney label transformers in japan. They won't hamper this at all by making posturing like movements.

WB and Mattel are more of a threat to disney than Hasbro is. Disney is more likely to attempt to buy Hasbro to bring them into the fold character library and all, than piss them off. WB itself is a direct competitor to disney and disney media.

Now, that being said.

I mostly just want Darkhawk, X-23 (all costumes but the fang suit), and anti-venom.
