Gotta admit, this was unexpected. I’m not entirely sure that I need him on my shelf. Especially since I don’t have that suit color Fantastic Four.

No one will care about this figure.
Also, nice re-use to the gun barrel effects, lol. |

I must have missed some issues. Wasn't Franklin Blonde? Does he still have a sister?

Since when did Franklin become so old? The Franklin I always knew was like 5 years old. Who’s this teeny-bopper?

That's the most exciting part of this reveal to me, I had no idea those were compatible with the flasks.
Franklin Richards is the son of Mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, he's been around for decades but has never been too prominently featured beyond being their kid. Usually he was a younger looking blonde but for a while now he's looked like this figure depicts.

Yes, but why? Prior to that, he'd been blond since his first appearance in 1968, and neither of his parents are dark-haired. To build on toyhandle's comment, this really seems like another case of someone at Marvel having a Joe Quesada-like hate-boner for a certain character's marriage.

I stopped caring about Franklin Richards after "Heroes Reborn", and even less after they de-mutant him like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. N'uff said.

Fair point, I forgot about Power Pack and also should've worded my post better. I don't count his appearances as a living MacGuffin as being proper featured, like when he gets involved in the original Onslaught story, because at that point you could replace him with any powerful artifact and the story would be pretty unaffected.

Looks like it was because of his emo phase. From the wiki: Franklin started dyeing his hair black after his powers began to wane (to the satisfaction of Johnny Storm who thought there were too many blondes in their family).[86] While in Thought Space where thoughts can become reality, he made his hair permanently black.[87]

He also had a role in the mutant massacre, and a pretty crazy role in earth X as the new galactus |

Well Franklin is a teenager now, so of course he does stuff that is dumb.
I remember him and his sister most during Hickman's run on FF through Secret Wars, where obviously they were still very young. His aging up when the FF returned after Secret Wars didn't bother me at first, since I don't mind when characters are allowed to actually grow up a little, at least until Dan Slott decided to retcon decades of comics so he didn't have to share the character with the X-books. Since then there hasn't been much reason if any to care about the now depowered and de-mutant modern Franklin. I will likely still buy this multi-pack at some point, but I still hold out hope Legends will one day make good classic versions of Franklin and Val. |

When did he dye his hair black? I haven't been keeping up with FF, & modern comics are trash, but why?

Really going to need to see the corresponding Valeria figure, because as-is I'm not sold on this set. I know this is his more recent appearance, but the figure is not giving me any Franklin Richards vibes standing alone.
