They knocked this out. I’m in for a few of them. I’m a bit disappointed in the lack of a new MCU program that does older movies.

That Bruce Banner is just underwhelming. I can kitbash that together right now, and that’s basically all they did here.
Lots of other cool stuff in there….definitely going to be picky with how I consume Legends this year. |

Missed the livestream, but based on what I see shown on Marvelous News, here are some thoughts of the ones I care about:
Rose and Tarantula will be instant buys, but it sucks they aren't using pinless joints. Sad that I have to buy an animated two pack to get an Aunt May figure, but at least the bendy wire arms are compatible with the classic Doc Ock. As such, I will preorder them for sure.' The Adaptoid is cool because I just encountered him in my X-Men comics, but I'm not intersted in the rest of the wae to build him. Widow looks good, but do I really need another version of Widow??? Grey Hulk and Bruce looks cool, but I'll let the price decide for me. That's about it.

Sheesh. There's stuff to be excited about here, but, per usual, there are silly decisions that are just head scratching. Why does Hasbro struggle mightily with color/inking when translating comic character looks? Hasbro, you guys made a mostly correct Tarantula already with a black cowl. How did you mess this Anton up and give him a blue mask? I’ve been looking forward to Eric Masterson’s Infinity Gauntlet Thor, but how did Hasbro miss on the gold of the boots? I just…whatever.
I’m very happy for the Destroyer and I think I’ll like the fig, but, off the top, I was hoping for more luster and greater size; if not height, larger limbs – biceps and quads. I dig the ‘starter-set’ Iron Man. I’m excited about Banner and I need to check the head of my gray Hulk to see what’s new, but I hope I don’t have to buy that Banner with a Hulk in tow ( I know I will tho’). Queue the calls for another wasted slot for a fourth (count ‘em!) classic Doc Ock, with bendy tentacles. Goody for those that asked for this, but I don’t think it will sell well. Even with those wanting to swap out the tentacles to older versions, most will smartly wait for the 4th iteration of Octavius. The other Spidey stuff is ok, but it’ll likely be just Spider Woman for me. Excited for the Sersi and Black Knight 2pack in their 90’s East Coast Avengers looks. Kudos, Legends Team, you successfully nailed that without weird goofs. Uhh, I’ll nab them, but I would have preferred different versions of Super Skrull and Veranke. FYI make sure to tell Feige that Secret Invasion wasn’t that popular of an arc. I was just thinking (literally in the last 3 days) that a new Bucky Cap was in order. Good job, it looks good, but I hope that a bionic left arm is hiding behind that shield. FA Monica is also one I’ve been hoping for and it looks decent to good. However, while I’m not certain I need it and wasn’t anticipating it at all, I’ll take the Secret War Doom. It’s nice to see that Hasbro has finally gotten around to cannibalizing the old Icons figures to make 6” giants to cobble a Super Adaptoid, but it leverages too much of the Icon’s modern Cap. There aren’t enough composite parts of OG Avengers to make this feel more like a Super Adaptoid vs just being a reissue of that original Marvel Icons armored Cap with a new head and boot cuffs. I do hope that BW mold makes it into a Psylocke figure in the near future.

After looking a bit closer, I'm on the fence for Sersi, Monica, and Doom. Doom's arms look small, Sersi's legs are also skinny, and Monica's face isn't great at all. The more I look at the Destroyer the greater my sense of disappointment becomes. They knew what they were up against with the Marvel Select version. It almost seems like they gave up trying to surpass it, instead opting to throw up their hands and settle on 'good enough'. Almost all of what has been shown has an unfinished quality to it, so let's hope there are production tweaks. There won't be, this is as good as it gets.

This is an animated Doc Ock for an animated inspired line, so no, no wasted slot here. People might not like that it's a two pack with May, but for most fans that's not a problem cause we're buying both anyway. The tentacles will also likely be included with any future Ottos, Lady Ocks, Spidey Ocks, and every other Octopus themed character from now on so it will be fine. |

1st App Iron Man looks to be a fun action figure regardless, so good for them on that end.
Hawkeye is the item I would want; rest look great but not for me to buy. |

Some good reveals here. For me the highlights were:
- Elektra Daredevil (we need more figures from the Chip Zdarsky run, there are so many good looks for DD and everyone in those stories) - Classic Dock Ock - Iron Man Mark 1 - Bruce Banner with Hulk - HawkEye with Sky Cycle |

Don't care for most of these. 90s Avengers are the only ones that are somewhat interesting.

I didn't realize Doom was on the 80th Iron Man body but it works out pretty well.

I think the anniversary Avengers line is shaping up nicely and the focus on different eras is great. I look forward to seeing what else they have in store, including what that HasLab tease at the end is all about.

Many of these animated figures are thinly veiled excuses to deliver full priced rehashes and while this is one of the rare occasions in which Hasbro has created a new mold for an animated/retro fig, I don’t see people running out to nab this Ock in large numbers, or Aunt May, for that matter. Additionally, yes, I know the tentacles will be ported for inevitable reuse (specifically, the classic Doc Ock they’ve already revisited - twice), that’s why I wrote what I did about waiting. Good luck with that expanded list of Ock people you mentioned, Hasbro might be able to stretch your interest in those out for roughly another 10 years before making good. While you wait for many of them to be made, you’ll likely get another couple of classic Ocks with the new bendy wires that they said were too expensive (oh, Legends team, you scamps - I see you!) a short while ago. I so freaking excited about Secret Wars Doom I ain't even gonna bitch about having to buy Monica in order to get him. DDElektra is incredible and Bucky Cap is fantastic. They'll get me for 4 figures. Happily.

I’m fully aware that this Doc Ock is a part of the animated line placing it outside of any specific wave, which is something I never implied. However, it is still a waste of a slot in the larger picture as are most of the animated figures, a takeaway that is supported by the hit, or miss response to many of the animated X-men and Spider Man figures, which rarely sell out...even on Pulse.

Also when exactly did the collector fandom at large decide that if something didn't sell out then it's a "miss"? Like I see the "sellout or shit" mentality a lot around here especially, but it's like why is that the only two metrics left anymore to judge success with people? Like is the figure really so terrible if that figure sells but not to the point where I can't just hit "Add to Cart" at anytime and instead have to either pay triple on eBay unless I decide to fight scalpers or have to stab some guy in Walmart's parking lot just to get it? I don't know but I think there's a middle ground and other metrics to ultimately judge success there, but availability =/= bad. Anyway, I clearly think you're wrong about this two pack selling well, which is why I'm going to put in my order right away tomorrow. That way even if you are right and it doesn't pre-sellout, I'm safe either way. I can totally see a retro card Spider-Man with Doc Ock tentacles put out well within 10 years from now, it is a very easy cash in for Hasbro now, along with the #1 requested Armani suit Doc Ock sooner or later. I was looking forward to the Rose, but I really hate that head sculpt. I'll pick it up for the body, but I'll have to find a replacement head.

That's actually the only Doc Oc I want. I'm just not that big a fan of the character. Since Hasbro will milk the udder (hehe) hell out of these tentacles to recoup tooling cost I doubt we'll have to wait that long. I GUESS the Hammerhead suit body would work. But ideally they'd develop a new buck.
