Well shit, if Goblin Queen is indeed Tier 2 I'll have to get the fucking thing if it reaches the Tier 2 numbers.

I guess it might have to do with Disney or how the two companies are run. |

I'm just now catching up on this thread and all things HasLab for that matter. On a certain level I like the Haslab concept, nice way to embrace the crowdfunding thing and a number of their prior toys look really cool to me (in fact, normally I would not pay the current after market price of Jabba's Sail Barge since I usually drop the bigger coin on vintage stuff, but that one is cool enough to actually be really tempting).
As I think about this Ghost Rider, my first thought was, this version seems a little too niche to me versus some of the prior projects. I honestly didn't even remember this version of the character, I think Cosmic Ghost Rider was the last thing I read with Ghost Rider in the title and that came later (and I grew up with the original). But then I thought...isn't that one the great benefits of crowdfunding? Obviously from the discussion here, as well as the over 5,000 backers that have signed up to date, there are plenty of people who want this. And yeah, that's in spite of price that I think is keeping that number down. I mean, $500 for the massive and detailed Sail Barge, versus $350 for basically a car and a guy plus some flame bling (cool looking as it may be)? And the "we'll tempt you with more stuff" add-ons seems kind of lame to me. Either you have a cool product to begin with or you don't. Who actually needed Yak Face in the mix to continue with the Sail Barge example? Plus there's already an awesome looking Goblin Queen PVC statue that can be had new at retail currently much as a new figure would be nice. This feels $250 to me, they should have set the target at 5,000 backers, blown it out of the water quickly hitting their target, thrown in a bonus figure or two as a thank you, and end up moving a truckload of these (and making up some of the profit on volume versus markup) and then moving on with the added benefit of heightened enthusiasm for future projects. |

Yeah this is the problem, the "bonus figure"-concept of stretchgoals worked well for them in the past so it's all they're doing now. They try to boost sales of something by including desired figures with it.
I have two issues with this: First is of course, fans who don't want the project but a stretchgoal figure are screwed. Sure they could buy the project and flip everything they don’t want after, but you have to be able to afford it for one, and two not everyone wants to do this. My second issue is on the opposite end: The high cost this system brings with it. The price for the project includes all stretchgoals from the get-go, no matter if they are unlocked or not. It's not like you're getting free stuff here. Kickstarter does this differently; they plan a part of the fund for stretchgoal bonuses so it isn't really reflected on the individual piece you're buying but they need more supporters. Hasbro sums everything into the base price. And that's my issue, it makes this unnecessarily expensive. I want this. But not for 350 bucks. And it wouldn’t be, if we take away the Robbie figure (which isn't happening anyway, but you still pay for it) and Mephisto and then maybe 2 more, that's 4 figures. 100 bucks worth of stuff you might not even get if the stretchgoals aren’t reached. Without all of this the set would've been around 250. Expensive? Yes. Much more manageable? Absolutely. |

Isn't it kinda weird how McFarlane can have a more obvious demon guy at retail (Sabbac) which is marketed to kids but Hasbro can't have Mephisto? I feel like Joe Normie would assume he's a weird jester before assuming he is a Satan stand in (except when Satan actually exists in the Marvel Universe).
I guess it might have to do with Disney or how the two companies are run. |

It's not the 90's anymore. Coming out of the 80's you still had satanic panic.
Right now it's not that they would get in trouble. Just that no one has tested it. Most likely it would end up being the Nobody cares scene from Jurassic Park. Mcfarlane clearly has gotten over even anti demon toy fear with this upcoming wave of Spawn figures. The toy aisle itself has changed. Hasbro seems perfectly fine selling figures to online only retailers. There really is no excuse about any demonic ban anymore. |

Hasbro seems perfectly fine selling figures to online only retailers. There really is no excuse about any demonic ban anymore. McFarlane also is selling Spawn to the "collectors section" in the back of the store at Walmart and Target where the rules slightly differ, but not the toy aisle. But that toy aisle is still Hasbro's bread and butter and where the focus remains. It's also likely why they don't just turn to the online "Fan Channels" for all of this because places like BBTS can't carry the same volume of product or bring in the same profit margin as Walmart to make it worth it to shift over for a bunch of probably new tooling heavy wave of the new "sexy and/or demonic" figures. |

Sabbac is in the Black Adam movie, which is why he gets a retail figure.
They couldn't even do Goblin Queen's underboob right?

So Tier 1 is now Tier 2 and the new Tier 1 is (relatively speaking) much lower than the previous Tier 1.
Sorry to those who really wanted this to succeed, but when people in charge of a crowdfunding campaign do thinsg like this it shows a level of desperation. |

Haha knew it. Trying to use sex appeal to get the tier goals. She's not even boob accurate dumb Hascrap. You'd be better off buying the Select Goblin Queen statue.

So Hasbro won't release "satanic" figures at retail or hooded Cobra Commander or Slave Leia but is fine releasing figures of Nazis and terrorists and almost naked Tygra demonic creatures like Demogoblin, Hobgoblin, etc.?
It's BS. They're doing this because it's vaguely themed and they want this shit to sell. |

Something feels off about the head sculpt too. Did they model it after Shania Twain? XD

Yeesh, they could've at least copied what they did with their comic-style GotG boxset and put a softgoods cloak on the Goblin Queen that was easily removable and had all that underbooby goodness underneath
