Yeah, there's always going to be that weird contingent of fans let alone YouTubers carrying that banner wishing it was 40 years ago and buying playsets at Toys R Us was still a thing. Even for nostalgia filled toy buyers that's something people need to learn to move on and let go.

IMO the Razor Crest should have been a retail release... there is no way you can convince me otherwise. That thing would have sold at retail for $300 without any of the extra incentives. The Classified Hisstank could have been a retail success too, but Joe fans are notoriously cheap IMO and probably would have waited until it hit clearance prices to buy it... so maybe not.

I have never heard that about Joe fans. As a Joe fan. Who is in different Joe fan communities.

Hisstank... about a decade ago... during the 3.75" 25th/Resolute/POC/ROC/Retaliation era when Joe fans didn't buy product at retail or didn't order the product at the regular price... then that product would show up at discount stores like ROSS or TJ Maxx and only then would Joe fans buy them all. At the same time Joe fans would complain about retail not carrying Joe product. Joe fans waiting for things to go on clearance or show up at discount stores was definitely a thing and was talked about a lot back then over at the Hisstank forums.

That mentality compared to Transformer fans who would just buy everything and put their money where their mouths were.

As if Marvel fans wouldn't have waited for Galactus and Sentinel to go on clearance either.

Even assuming enough fans would've bought it at retail to make it a success, that's aside from whether retailers could be convinced to carry $300 Hasbro products in the first place (which is a pretty big "no").

^ The Galaxy Edge VC Millennium Falcon re-release sold out at every Target that I saw and that thing was $400 and the box was huge and heavy. I was tracking the one at my local Target almost on a daily basis hoping it would go on clearance, but then this old man toy collector guy just came by one day and bought it ruining my plans to buy it the first moment it was marked down. The VC Slave 1 is also getting a re-release as Boba Fett's Starship from the Book of Boba Fett.

So true about eBay, it’s one of my favourite places to toy hunt, I’ve got a love/hate thing going on with Mattel’s Masterverse figures, I want some articulated MOTU figures, Masterverse is currently my only viable option, but I just think they could be so much better, and some of those face sculpts are just not good at all, so I refuse to pay retail for any of them, so far I’ve got 15, using a combination of ‘sales’ from proper retailers and eBay, I even got one for less than £10 on eBay, all new and sealed. I’m currently on the fence about pulling the trigger on getting the SDCC Neca TMNT Pre Mutation set, there are scalpers on eBay asking for silly prices, but there are quite a few sets at a reasonable price, genuinely some that would have matched what I would have paid at retail plus shipping form the USA, so yes, eBay genuinely is an excellent place to toy hunt.

Sorry, specifically *whether retailers could be convinced to carry new-mold $300+ Hasbro products in the present day.

Boy, they made that Madelyne Pryor prototype real fast, didn't they? Totally wasn't going to be in a Build-a-Figure wave, right?

Hasbro booth at NYCC has an RFID reader on the haslab display so if you get too close it takes your money.

Joking of course*

Of course there are people selling figures at outrageous prices. But people like Harbinger (who is the type of collector Hasbro thinks we all are) want us to think we're forced to pay those guys.

Most eBay sellers are just people trying get a few bucks back because they're in a bad spot or don't want their figures anymore. When you sell a Walgreens ML figure for $40, you're not making your money back. When you sell a Hot Toys figure for $200 you're on your a**.

I watched a video by Spector Creative today that made a solid case that Hasbro has no idea how to run a crowdfunder and the Pryor stretch goal is blatant desperation from whoever thought this was a good idea. That twink Dan who shows up on those ML streams is a straight up liar.

Well I can't speak for the youtubers and I wasn't alive 40 years ago but I don't think anyone is asking for that here... all the toys r us' went out of business lol

You can still go to target, walmart or just order quite a few playsets off amazon

I bought the mission fleet razor crest, drilled a few holes and it fits the vintage collection figures just fine and it was found at walmart for $40... it's not in scale but the cockpit hatch is usually closed when I have it displayed anyway. Plus I don't think the vintage collection razor crest was perfectly to scale from some of the reviews I saw online it looked like the back seats were too close to the door

I also was able to walk into a target and buy a McFarlane clayface big boy for $40... works just fine as a stand in for a rancor... again not as big or accurate, but for a cheapskate like me it works. I did kickstart a small company like bossfight but they had top notch stuff for reasonable prices

If they had to retool her chest to insert the brooch, they could've made the rest of her top accurate. They could've picked one of Maddie's outfits without underboob cleavage if they didn't want to include it in the first place, but they should get her most iconic costume right if they're charging $350 (plus a free car).

Commas and periods would make this much more easy to read, just a heads up

I took all my money and didn't give one cent to Hasbro. I took $1,785.84 after tax and bought some Hot Toys the past week.

Hasbro, I am frustrated with the increases, they stupid box packaging, their Hasblow memberships to get items, their insane shipping prices, Hasblabs are anti consumer, Dwight needs to politely tell the bosses the fans are not having it any longer. Find a new business strategy.

I get that you are forced to release items that will not sell, Reva, but I am not forced to buy it. Release things people want and the way they want it, boobs and all.

Any yes, for those who do not know, they do read comments in forums for ideas and feedback.

Your not going to find anything close to the size and scope of Eternia anymore at Target or Walmart. That's why people want TRU, because then you'd have a retailer who would take a chance on these big items selling for hundreds of dollars to either be a success or at the very least anchor shelf space.

Toys R Us also went out of business because of Bain Capital shenanigans saddling the company with debt they could never repay. They were making money otherwise, but they were so far in the hole it didn't matter.

Same happened to Kay Bees, too, so now the narrative is that toy stores aren't profitable so we're stuck with half a dozen aisles at stores like Walmart where to Walmart executives they're the least important aisles in the entire store.

Still going down. We're at 5,194 now. Unless Hasbro starts offering free blowjobs with this thing, it's not getting funded.

Hopefully Hasbro learns their lesson: stop overcharging and under-delivering.
