We see them without their helmets on in the microverse in trailer scenes, so obviously the tech now allows them to be without the helmets on regardless of how big or small they are.

Still seems like a waste of tooling especially instead of an unmasked Kang head since I'm sure Jon Majors will be maskless and blue face less for 98% of the movie.

In the comics, the helmet has nothing to do with Hank's (nor Janet's, Scott's, Clint's, Bill's, or Cassie's) ability to alter their size it's the Pym particles that make that possible. The helmet allowed him to breathe in hostile environments, communicate via short-range radio waves, and allowed him to communicate and control ants. I'm not even sure that the movies established the helmet being used that way; I think it was the suit that regulated his height.

It’s driving me crazy, does anyone recognize what art that Ultron headsculpt is based on? I’m sure it’s from somewhere, but I can’t quite find anything where he antennae look like that.

I think it's supposed to be from the opening flashback of the Rage of Ultron graphic novel, though some details are off.

Word I really think they should keep comic and movies separate.

This is true. I just remembered Scott was unmasked in the second movie as a little guy when he was at Cassie's school.

How are there only 3 Movie figures in this Movie wave. Why not do MCU Hank and Janet as figures.

Egghead and Discount Deadshot or whatever his name is will pegwarm like crazy.

I mean, they're in the micro microverse for the entire movie so it's possible the normal rules don't apply.

I'm in for Scott and Kang, I like my Infinity War Wasp and started collecting MCU Legends after normal size Scott got a bit too expensive second hand. I'm betting Cassie will get a deluxe release like Giant-Man did, if not I'll do what I normally do and keep an eye out for loose BAF pieces for sale.

Another easy wave to pass on.

I wonder if Ultron will actually show up in stores this time though.

Why even develop the Vulcan body when they refuse to use it and still trot out Bucky Cap 15 years later?

Not gonna be surprised if/when MCU Hank and Janet and/or Normal-size Cassie and Unmasked Kang end up as two-packs or exclusives somewhere. Or help fill in an "MCU Xth Anniversary" line in any given year. I do kinda suspect "old people in drab clothes" wasn't something Hasbro's suits thought would be a hot seller (there's a reason MCU Ego was an exclusive back in the day).

Though for unmasked Kang they may just be supposing folks can swap He-Who-Remains' head on there if they really want to. Though it wouldn't QUITE be accurate given the scarification.

it won't work. Dan confirmed the head would sit too high on the new Kang

Ultron must now hold his energy loogie aloft because it no longer fits into his new noggin?

I think the MCU tried to imply that the helmets aided in preventing the Pym Particles from having a mental effect on their users. The idea being that the reason Yellowjacket was psycho was because he was repeatedly exposing himself to the particles without protection. I think it was a throwaway line in the first film from Hank.

It's based on Jerome Opena's art from Rage of Ultron, specifically from the intro flashback sequence. The toy packaging even uses his art for the BG artwork. Really great book if you're a fan of Ultron.

Best Kang there’s ever been, he actually looks cool as opposed to the laughably attired OG dork.

Yes, that sounds about right and, IIRC, there was also some effect of the Pym-particles that caused Hank to engage in domestic violence when he was Yellowjacket in the funny books.

EDIT: I just checked and it wasn't Pym particles that altered his personality when he hit Jan, it was a a mixture of chemicals in a lab accident that caused the shift in his personality.

I disagree that this redesign is aesthetically cooler than the actual canon Kang. While the MCU Kang is a nice figure and received more attention than did the other figs in this wave, it is very busy with a head sculpt that pales in character when compared to the comic version. The original has just the right amount of texturizing. Enough to accentuate, while still faithfully representing the iconic look from comics. Again, while I like this new one, it has textures and detail for the ‘sake of’ rather than representing genuine sculpting verve IMO. Some of the extraneous detailing even hinders articulation. I’ll see better when I have it in hand, but the clever tunic design from the canon version that allows for a wide range of motion in the shoulders seems to have been employed to a considerably lesser degree of success here. The MCU Kang won’t have many options for posing the arms due to the studio over-designing the tunic with three ridges. As for the head, I’ve seen Jonathan assume that look many times and they’ve done a good job approximating his stoic, yet pensive ('resolved' might be a better descriptor) countenance. However, I don’t think “Kang” when I look at the expression. It lacks that quality of looking detached, but also threatening. Cold and analytical, yet also murderous and sociopathic. This Kang is cool, but “OG” Kang edges it.

Also, what could be more in keeping with the current zeitgeist than a dude rocking purple thigh-hi boots? Lol The artist formerly known as Prince would likely lean canon Kang as well!
