With the recent success of the new video game and the digital series, Warner Bros given the green light for a full production of a movie on the big screen!!! Source

I for one, am THRILLED! Being a fan of both the recent game release and digital series!

Thoughts?

Belong in the Movie/TV forum. Moved.

As for the new movie, I hope it's closer to the web series than the other movies or the cartoon (*shudder*).

Dude, do you watch martial arts movies? Yea that fight was cool but man your missing out on a lot of awesome fight scenes in Asian movies and I wouldnt even compare that Mortal Kombat fight scene to anywhere near the top echelon of other fight scenes i've seen.

It is about damn time! I love mortal kombat. Mortal Kombat is so part of my childhood that I even like the first two live action movies. LOVE the animated series and enjoyed the live action series.

I second this. And I don't want to get into a big debate about how Jon Bones Jones can beat Bruce Lee, or how TKD and BJJ is better than kung fu or whatever. When it boils down to choreography, Asian movies win. On screen, the best fights scenes I've ever seen featured stars like Donnie Yen (who helped produce the best fight scene in Highlander Endgame with Adrian Paul, who himself is a fellow Hung Gar practitioner), Yuen Baio, Tony Jaa, Billy Chow, Jet Li, young Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Lee Hoi Sa, <insert Asian name here>. The choreographers are also just way better. Yuen Woo Ping, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen. Shit, just look at the Matrix. If Yuen Woo Ping can make Keanu and Fishburne look like kung fu experts in the Matrix, can you imagine what he could do with Mortal Kombat?

Not to say that people who aren't Asian don't produce good fight scenes in martial arts movies. They're usually relatively unknown actors to North American audiences, guys from Europe like Gerard Gordeau. When I want to see something real, like MMA, I usually watch UFC. I used to like PRIDE better because the fights were so mismatched and unpredictable but oh well. When I want to see a martial arts movie, though, man I can't even compare something like Bloodsport or Mortal Kombat to Ip Man or Magnificient Butcher. I really don't care much for MMA movies, either. Watching people PRETEND to do MMA is insanely boring unless it's old Japan UWFi, Pancrase and RINGS. They somehow made it entertaining.

Sounds like fun. I didn't mind the first 2 movies but it could use improvement.

I remember getting into a shitload of trouble with my mom for seeing it as a kid, which is weird because I got away with a lot worse than that, trust me. I used to have the 3 3/4 sized Johnny Cage and Goro figures, picked them up from KB Toys on clearance. I played with them for what seemed like forever than one day I mysteriously lost them. That seemed to happen with a lot of my stuff.

Again, Donnie Yen vs Sammo Hung. Hard to lose with that combo. I meant more like Fighting, Never Back Down, etc. which were comparable to that arm wrestling moving with Stallone for cheese factor, but then I kind of expected THAT one to suck. LOL.

Mortal Kombat Annihilation was easily one of the worst films I've ever seen but I almost died laughing.

Even as a child, I knew the film was absolutely horrible and it all came to a bubbling poopoo climax when Liu Kang turned into a Claymation dragon and ate Shao Khan's Claymation dragon and mother and daughter Sindel and Kitana hold hands on their way to a Payless shoe sale. Oh and I happen to like James Remar. He was Hawkman in JLU and he was in campy but likeable '70s flick the Warriors. Both are great... but that scene with the weird spin kicks mirror match thing made me want to die laughing.

I never knew that bout Hawkman. Pretty cool. But anyway I just enjoyed it when I was little. No accounting for taste I suppose lol

This fight is awesome!!! i had no idea it even occured! thankyou for bringing it into my life!

My favourite part is when samo hung throws yen through a table then follows up with a jimmy snuka splash type move, then yen brings out the head scissors!! wrestling moves in martial arts movies are always very entertaining.

The first MK movie was really good, the second one not so much but i do still watch it every few years when i have a MK fad. Keith Cook is in it! He was cool back in the day!

I think thats the movie where Ray Park started out in stunts too, he doubled for Rayden. before Star wars.
