The likeness isn't spot-on, but holy shit does that look like an actual human being. Like, on the front page I thought it was a real person until I saw the elbow joint. Freaky.

That said, the scene in Suicide Squad that this figure is from makes the least sense in a film full of nonsensical bullshit. Joker offers Harley to guy in club, guy respectfully declines saying Harley is Joker's woman and doesn't want any problems, Joker gets mad and kills guy. What a shitty movie.

lol I also thought that was a photo of a human being, until I saw the jointed elbow. 'Uncanny valley'...

Agreed on the movie in general, but he (Common) was dead the moment he looked lustfully at Harley and said some slick-ass shit to Joker...basically, he'd already fucked up beyond return. The intent, obviously, was to demonstrate how unpredictable the Joker is and that he's quite love-smitten and insecure as it regards Harley. Definitely a bit of a departure from what we saw in the animated feature Batman: Assault on Arkham, where Joker seemed pretty indifferent to Harley and her 'new man,' Deadshot...

Once Hot Toys actually makes figures that can move on their own I think we may be finally crossing over the threshold into the Uncanny Valley, indeed.

After reading this, I went back and re-watched the club clip on YouTube, and as a result the scene in general makes a lot more sense. Still a shitty movie, however.

Saw that too, and it was a much better movie than Suicide Squad ever was.

I feel like by definition if you guys thought this was a human at first, we're already beyond the uncanny valley. That's where it looks weird and inhuman.

Like an example I think of is SH Figuarts Jedi Luke, people think he looks weird but I think he's in the uncanny valley for them, but I see Mark Hamill when I look at him.

I think Harley falls into the Uncanny Valley. You have a VERY human-looking face and torso, and then the elbow joint is there and it's very jarring and weird considering how natural the rest of the figure looks.

Agree 100%, but I feel that way about most serious animated features vs movies based on the same source material.

Good point, but there is still something unsettling about the dead eyes...

As my eyes reached the elbow, I actually did a double take and looked back to the face, then to the elbow again.
