Any volunteers to melt down the same figure for mu and ml and measure the volume?
You also have to take into account the amount of tools needed to be cut. The higher the amount of small parts that need to be tooled, the higher it costs to cut the tools/make the mold(s).

For example, I can't see why the Spiderman movie and 4" line from last year should cost the same as Marvel Universe. Marvel Universe figures have substantially more parts to tool.

Part of me thinks that characters like Gladiator, should be in multi-packs instead of on single cards, to avoid shelf-warming. However it Hasbro leaves guys like him in multi-packs, they will get the common complaint about being too scared to release the fan-favorite obscure characters and instead releasing more A-listers on single cards.

Then again Hasbro releases A-listers in both so...

No 3.75" of any kind was shown.

No Star Wars. No MU. No Iron Man 3. Not even a goddamned GIJoe.

NEW MARVEL UNIVERSE, I WANT TO SEE PICTURES NOW.

And we know they have new stuff coming in 3.75" lines so it's odd nothing was shown at all. I would like to meet the person that makes these calls and hear their logic. Do they just figure the 3.75" are more for kids so they don't need to show as much? We still have a lot coming but it would be nice to know they are working on new things.

RIP Marvel Universe 3.75. This line is done put a fork in it. The writing was on the wall way back, when Vonner was let go. Hasbro (HASBLO) made the decision then. They had many things in the works under Vonner and when the fugures that were really far into developement were made that was going to be it. I think now that we will not even see many of the shown figures produced. They probably cleared their warehouse with the wave 21 figures that showed up all in Asia and Mexico. We may see the next scheduled waves but I have serious doubts. How HASBLO has managed to muck up a good thing is beyond me. This line had so much potential.

Heh, Toy Fair better blow everyone away or else Hasbro will never hear the end of it from scathing fanboys. Out of all Hasbro's 4" lines, Marvel Universe had the highest potential and highest demand going in imo. Sure, G.I. Joe is their best 4" figure, but for Marvel, ideas that didn't work well for other lines, like battle packs, multi-packs COMIC PACKS; those WORK for Marvel Universe. Plus it's not like there's a shortage of anyone to choose from, even different versions of Spiderman/Captain America/Wolverine/Iron Man.

Cost concerns need to factor in articulation and scale- making something MU sized, which is likely completely hand assembled and finished has to be more difficult in complexity and quality control.
We see all sorts of ebay stuff that walked away from the factory, for example, but really no ML figs go that way.
It's also possible that different scales are made in different factories (or different buildings in the same industrial park)- Hasbro cramks out a lot of 3.75" figures after all.

All issues aside, we're getting the very best 3.75" figures ever made and I for one am a happy guy....though moving it all resulted in TWO 30 gallon plastic bins full of figures!

HASBRO rep at SDCC. "We left our cases home," will have plenty too show at NYCC. What a crock.HASBLO is one big CLUSTERF@%#. when it comes to customer relations, or maybe it is really true that NO ONE over theree knows their head from their ass. I mean they have screwed this line up in SO many ways(not the least being their distribution. its a wonder they did manage to get out quite a few great figures.(oh wait that was when David Vonner was there) Talk about killing a GOLDEN GOOSE.

You are basing this on what proof? I know it may end up being true but we have nothing to go on other than wave 21 showing up in weird places and that can mean anything. Don't you think Vonner would have heard from people left behind if the line was going to be dead? I think we would have heard something from the employees in some way.

At SDCC they said they weren't going to be at NYCC and likely wouldn't show much so I guess we all heard different things from different people.

Exactly. Most of the stuff seems to sell in ways other lines don't (other than some movie line stuff). One has to think it makes money. I think the big issue was stuff like Thor bombing. Maybe the suits that run the place put all the Marvel 3.75" stuff in the same bucket for sales/profits.

I never thought about that. It could be that the larger figures are too hard to sneak out or maybe they get less rejected figures at the 6" size.

Technically, this is still correct. The Marvel Hasbro team is not at NYCC. For those who aren't aware, each property/license that Hasbro owns/maintains has its own team within the company (from designers/engineers to sales/marketing). So having the MLP guys at the Con has absolutely no bearing on the future of MU.

Hell, Hasbro could have every other division present at the Con and it still wouldn't matter (but would seem suspicious, in that case).

i was in beijing 2 years ago, they seem to have made incredible progress in the recycling industry.and as we already know, they crap on every other country for cheap production rates,so i still find it odd that cost would be an issue.maybe the 4" line is less popular than we think.im just gonna keep grabbing everything i can that is reasonably priced and not even focus on the death of MU,if that is what is happening behind the scenes.if it ends it ends, life goes on.and i dont collect any other lines so it will be nice to spend my cash on something relevant for once.

I do not believe this one bit. New MU is starting to show up at TRU, Wallmart, & Target. There has been a 6 month drought or so but the product is out there. Remember all the hype about the 25th annaversary line ending? All it did was turn into the modern era line. We still got a lot more new figs in the years to follow. And based on what I have seen at the Joe Convention ther are plenty of new figures they can make for G.I Joe even after the new movie product. Have faith people.

LMAO,"chicken little types" love it Jay besides there are enough resources out there for many of us to improvise and start making our own customs.and many folk here have just been customising their own figures irregardless of what Hasbro are announcing for upcoming releases.

I think what is getting to a lot of people is in some areas the figures are there, in others, the drought continues and they are seeing stores just stopping carrying MU altogether. Walmart dropping the line from a lot of stores had to hurt confidence. Here in Delaware, every Walmart in the state dropped the line for The Corps and Toy Story 3. The Targets within 100 miles of me? None of the three have restocked MU figures. TRU did which is how I ended up with a good paint Punisher and She-Hulk and 2 of the new comic packs, but that is terribly low. I had to resort to online case buying JUST to make sure I got the figures I wanted, because I never saw the Beast wave here.

I think it's little things that can be fixed though to restore confidence.

Geez, guess I'm the only one that appreciates the Hasbro break from NYCC this year.

No, I don't think anyone said they were holding something back for NYCC. A few forummers jumped to that conclusion due to the lack of new material being shown.

It's to the point that I won't listen to anything said anymore. Too much rumor and hearsay, not enough facts or reliable sources. Just give it a rest.

What they DID say was they they had more they intended to bring to SDCC but someone packed the wrong prototypes so they couldn't show them.

Yup, which was extrapolated into "They'll bring the right stuff to NYCC" based on assumption.

At the time very few of us even considered they wouldn't show anything at all at NYCC.

While I do appreciate the break. Here's hoping they show some big stuff at toy fair 2013 to get retailers back on board with a quickness.

Actually, it happens pretty regularly and not even just to hasbro, all of em sometimes have this issue. Sometimes they get the okay to show something early, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the prototype got an overhaul, so the one they have to show is pointless, and the list can go on and on with valid reasons because of how development works.

That's just part of the business. This has happened at previous cons before too. The prototypes they couldn't show us before have become figures already from those shows.

Hasbro doesnt really seem to give 2 farts about the MU line, They send thier reps out to SDCC and NYCC( I really wonder about this, I think they hire them at a local bar before the shows) to spew total BS. Why cant they just staight up say what is really going on with the line(Wait maybe they cant because NO ONE there knows what the hell is going on.) All I know for a FACT is they have a licence to produce a product that there is a great demand for and are totally f@#king it up.
