What is the future though?? What about the already announced figures?? Are we actualluy going to see a Scarlet Witch at retail. And whats up with the wave that just hit the Phillipines? Are those figures going to hit the US?? The preorders that are in right now have The Beta Ray Bill wave.(Beta Ray Bill,Kraven,Spidey, New Hulk,Beast) So where do Blastaar, Jubilee, Paper Bag Spidey and Prof. X fit in??(has the makings of a collectors nightmare and a Scalpers wet dream) Some more info would really be appreciated by anyone in the "know". (confirmed source)

Has Dan Curto ever been wrong? I ask bc most things I have read from him have come true, pretty much across the board.

My question for the insiders is simply put

on a scale from 1-10 on what they have heard, how much product will we get in 2013 compared to 2011(10 being equal to 2011)

and on a scale from 1-10, on what they have heard, how much more changes or "sacrifices"(Stands being an example) will we receive.

I figure a scale system is easier than outright saying what they have and havent heard or been told.

Just diving into this thread now. I haven't read a single post. i'm offerin gup a summary for you all with regards to what we SHOULD be able to expect at retail through the end of this year.

I will also include a few announced items at the end that I have no idea what will be happening to them.

None of this is easy and or cut & dry to answer or decipher.

Through the remainder of this year, possibly carried over to the beginning of next year, we should fully expect to see ALL OF THIS RELEASED:

Marvel Universe Basic Figures
Wave 18 - (007-Hulk, 008-Ultimate Spider-Man, 008-Ultimate Spider-Man Variant, 009-Kraven, 010-Beta Ray Bill, 011-Astonishing Beast )
Wave 19 - (0012-She-Hulk, 013-FF Spider-Man, 013-FF Spider-Man Paper Bag Variant, 014-Punisher, 015-Kang, 016-Scarlet Witch)
Wave 20 - (017-BLUE Angel, 017-RED Angel Variant, 018-Nighthawk, 019-Nova, 020-Hercules, 021-Puck )
Wave 21 - (022-Professor X, 023-Jubilee, 024-Blastaar, 024-Blastaar
Energized Variant)

Marvel Universe Greatest Battles Comic 2-Packs
'12 Wave 1 - (Iron Man/Mandarin, Colossus/Juggernaut, Hulk/First Appearance Wolverine)
'12 Wave 2 - (Moon Knight/Ant-Man, Cap/70's Falcon, Dr. Strange/Silver Surfer)

Marve Universe Comic Team Packs
Wave 4 (Shipping now) - Heroic Age Avengers (Thor, Iron Man & Red Hulk), Fantastic Four (Blue/Translucent Invisible Woman)
Wave 5 - Inhumans (Black Bolt, Medusa & Karnak), X-Men (Longshot, Jim Lee Rogue, Wolverine & X-Baby Cyclops)

Obviously, the SDCC Sets (MoE & Helicarrier) as well as the TRU X-Factor set and possibly one or two other exclusive sets/items.

I have no idea the status of these items:
Goliath/Whizzer Gigantic battles set
Fin Fang Foom
Eric Masterson Thor w/frog
Death's Head
Black Knight
On-Line Sub Unmasked Doom

Also, according to a toy Ark poster, former Hasbro Employee David Vonner has mentioned to him that there will be some new MU reveals at SDCC, but my Hasbro sources have not shared any of that with me.

Other than this, all I know is that there is a shift in Hasbro away from MU and we will be lucky to see anything close to what we're used to seeing from the line. Maybe hiatus, like the brief ML pause? I honestly don't know.

Just trying to lay my cards on the table. I hope this helps.

Now to dive into the thread....

The rest of these items

( My local Walmart has 21 Guardians of the Galaxy packs (and not 1 other 3 pack) will finally kill the line. It will really be a shame too because the product had so much potential.
Better grab those GotG sets now! they'll be worth a MINT when the Movie comes out in a few years.

X-Men First Class had no figures because the move was made faster than they could get a figure line produced.

GR2 well, GR1 figure line was a money loser, so no reason to revisit that well.

I actually liked the IM2 approach to figures, although I think it led to s Glut of merchandise, but i like the idea of:
Movie Assortment
Comic Assortment
and to a lesser degree, but i see the need for it, Concept Assorment

I Got the Comic assortments, because of my MU collection, similar to how I went out to get the Spider-man lines villians.

I actually hope that they adopt a Comic series for every movie series as a way to supplement and extend the MU line.

Well if we get all thats been shown I will be very happy. As for MU going on haitus, well we have basically just gone 8 months without any new waves. As to those GOG packs, they seem to be Everywhere. And still at full retail. They will probably still be there when and if a GOG movie comes out. Maybe I should buy them all so they have space for the new 3 packs. LOL. Really is a shame though Vonner couldnt have stuck around for a couple more years, would have gotten lots more really cool figures.

Didn't they actually slap a "First Class" label on a couple of X-Men comic packs?

I really like the MU line. They kinda remind me of the older toys from when I was younger. I don't mind re-paints but I'd like to see less Iron Mans and Caps and more obscure characters

Here's a THEORY (pure speculation)...

There is RUMOR of DC Direct (NOT MATTEL) releasing a 3.75" DC line aimed at collectors.

How could this apply to Marvel? Well DC Direct's competition for the collector market is Marvel Select (makers of the 7" figures).

Maybe Marvel Select will do a 3.75" Marvel line aimed at the collector market?

Just a thought.

DST can't, because Hasbro holds the master license for that scale. Assuming DST even wanted to get into the 3.75-4" market with Marvel figures, they would have to wait another 5 years for the license to be up for grabs again (assuming it doesn't auto-renew with Hasbro) and then another year or two after DST gets it to release figures.

Damn. Would have been interesting to see what they could do in that scale.

First the impending death of one of my ferrets and now this. It's tuning up to be a bad day. while I'll wait for an official announcement from Hasbro this won't surprise me. The clone wars line either needs to be scaled back considerably or go altogether. SW movie heroes? Kill it. I saw the first wave of straight repaints of the Transformers Prime line today ( A Bumble Bee, WheelJack, I think, and one other) and there are still dark of the moon pegwarmers out there. The new Joe movie line seems to be moving OK, but since the movie itself has been moved back to next year who knows how long that will last. Except for three or four figs the Avengers are already starting to peg warm and there are still CA figs and IM2 ones there also. ML seems to be moving briskly, esp on the secondary market. Of all of them MU is my passion, but there are still too many peg warmers at my local Wal Mart, mostly team sets and comic 2 packs (btw if any one needs the Silver Sam?wolvie 2 pack let me know. There's like twenty of them at the local WM.) On other fronts, Hasbro owns the company which makes Dungeons and Dragons, which is just a money pit right now, although there's a 5th d coming out this year (expect official announcement at Gen Con). I guess what this minor rant means is 1. Hasbro is fucked and 2. I'm gonna go cry now.

This is what I was hoping for when I heard the news. I'd be ok with this although hunting down the figures I want would be a lot harder. I wouldn't be willing to do cases like wave 3 of the avengers when all I really want are 2 figures.

Thanks again for sharing your info. I appreciate it and if you have more, you know where it's welcome.

oh god Doomtron, this arguement is over hours ago. We know you don't trust his damn sources but there's nothing we can do until SDCC. Whats said is said. If he's wrong, then he's wrong, so what? If he's Right then He's right and we know somthing going into SDCC, So What?

yeah this argument is pretty moot till SDCC looms around and the panel happens. shame David Vonner won't be heading it up anymore but hopefully the line has a few more years left in it. i'd hate for it to be replaced with a vastly inferior line with T hips and no waist swivels. i feel like the line is just hitting it's stride in terms of articulation and sculpts but this reaaaally long lull potentially due to the ML return, Avengers, and Spidey movie lines has kinda killed the momentum. hopefully when it returns, it'll show that there still is interest in the line. i imagine if anything, now is the perfect time to pump out as much diverse Marvel product as physically possible without too much character reuse.

Hey D00M,
That comment was a result of you stumbling into the thread and piling on. You even admitted that you hadn't bothered to read anything prior, so what do you expect me to do? Curl up into a ball and continue to get kicked?

Plus, what name did I call you?!?!?
